I wasn't sure where to place this.

Someone sent me this link to Christain the Lion. There is a video of the meeting on youtube and another video here. This did bring a tear to my eyes. It aslo made me wonder about zookeepers getting mauled by the big cats and why it happens.

Thank you Vulcan for this beautiful story. That is indeed a moving video. Christian seems so happy to meet again his old friends after a year long separation.

This is incredible! Things might have turned out differently if they waited longer than a year to reunite.

On the topic of the animal kingdom, this video shot by tourists in the Kruger National Park made the headlines here last year. Enjoy!

Yes, I recall seeing this video. And it is so touching and made me cry too, Vulcan. Happy tears and a longing for being able to interact in this manner with all animals. As yourself, I've thought about zookeepers getting mauled by big cats and the whys of it. I factored in the possibility of the unhealthiness of the situation for the animal, being that it is not free but confined unnaturally. I imagine it must take its toll on the mental health of the animal. Possibly at some point the animal equates the situation with the keeper?

a lion...

Christian was a lion originally purchased by Australians John Rendall and Anthony "Ace" Bourke from Harrods department store of London in 1969 and ultimately reintroduced to the African wild by conservationist George Adamson. One year after George Adamson released Christian to the wild, his former owners decided to go looking for him to see whether Christian would remember them. He did, and with him were two lionesses who accepted the men as well.

There is some video clips of him and the meet:
