All three vessels of the Ukrainian Navy, which violated the Russian state border, have been detained in the Black Sea, weapons were used to force them to stop, the Public Relations Center of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported.

"The Ukrainian Navy’s vessels the Berdyansk, the Nikopol and the Yany Kapu, which violated Russia’s state border this morning, made another attempt of committing illegal activities in Russia’s territorial sea at 19:00 Moscow time on November 25," the FSB said. "They did not respond to legitimate demands by the ships and boats of Russia’s FSB Border Guard Service escorting them to stop immediately and performed dangerous maneuvers."

According to the FSB, "weapons were used to force the Ukrainian warships to stop." As a result, all three vessels of the Ukrainian Navy were detained in Russia’s territorial waters in the Black Sea. "Three wounded military servicemen of the Ukrainian armed forces received medical assistance," the FSB said, adding that there was no threat to their lives.

A criminal case has been initiated over violation of Russia’s state border.

The FSB stressed that Ukraine was aware of the procedure for warships’ passage through Russia’s territorial sea and Kerch-Yenikale Canal. "They have already used that procedure for innocent passage," it said.

The FSB’s border directorate for Crimea earlier reported that three Ukrainian warships had illegally crossed Russia’s state border in the Black Sea and entered Russia’s territorial waters performing dangerous maneuvers. Later on, the FSB said that two more Ukrainian warships had sailed off from Berdyansk to join the three vessels. However, they later turned back.

The FSB stressed that "before making such dangerous and irresponsible decisions, the Kiev leadership should have thought about possible consequences of its actions."

Russia’s Federal Security Service said it had irrefutable evidence of Kiev’s using the Ukrainian Navy to stage a provocation in the Black Sea and promised it would be made public soon.

Three Ukrainian Navy vessels, which violated Russia’s state border and were detained in the Black Sea are being delivered to the port of Kerch (a city in eastern Crimea), Anton Lozovoy, an officer of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) State Border Directorate for Crimea, said in a video commentary on Monday.

"All three vessels have been detained and are being delivered to the port of Kerch," he said.

According to Lozovoy, three Ukrainian military servicemen who sustained minor wounds have received medical care.

UNITED NATIONS - Russia has asked for the convocation of an emergency UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the Sea of Azov on November 26, Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky has told reporters.

"In connection with the dangerous developments in the Sea of Azov and subsequent events, Russia requested an urgent convocation of an open Security Council meeting in the morning of November 26 the maintaining international peace and security agenda item," he said. Enough is Enough: Russia Begins Freezing Ukrainian Assets, Stopping Money Transfers, and SANCTIONS!

Published on Oct 24, 2018 (9:19 min.)

Putin has ordered and the government has already designed the sanctions against Ukraine. If we speak exclusively about private persons, the sanctions are going to apply to hundreds of people whose actions, I quote, "harmed the interests or Russia."

Not sure if this has been done or not (as of this moment), yet it looks like Poroshenko is on the martial law kick; that would prove interesting.

A National Guard serviceman extinguishes a torch thrown by a protester during a rally against the seizure by Russian special forces of three of the Ukrainian navy ships, which Russia blocked from passing through the Kerch Strait into the Sea of Azov in the Black Sea, in front of the Russian embassy in Kiev, Ukraine November 25, 2018.

KIEV (Reuters) - Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko said on Monday he would propose that parliament declare martial law in the country after the Russian military attacked and seized three Ukrainian navy ships in the Black Sea.

He said the parliament on Monday could decide whether to approve martial law, which would restrict civil liberties and give state institutions greater power.

With the 3.9 billion IMF loan promises while they, Ukraine, "green-lighted a bill on amending the country’s main law by enshrining into it the final goal of obtaining NATO and EU membership" the pressure is being reasserted.

If there is martial law, the people of Ukraine are going to sadly feel it, as if its not hard enough.

MOSCOW, Nov. 26 - RIA News. The Ukrainian army has been put on full alert, the press service of the country's Defense Ministry reports.
The corresponding order was adopted on the basis of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) on the introduction of martial law.

In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine led to full combat readiness.

"Counterintelligence measures have been strengthened to prevent other provocations of the Russian special services on the territory of Ukraine and destabilize the situation inside the country," the ministry said.
Provocation of the Ukrainian Navy

On the eve of the morning, the ships of the Ukrainian Navy Berdyansk, Nikopol and Yana Kapu, in violation of Articles 19 and 21 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, crossed the state border of Russia. The vessels entered the temporarily closed Russian water area and made dangerous maneuvers for several hours, not responding to the demands of the Russian boats and ships accompanying them.

It was decided to use weapons. All three ships were detained approximately 20 kilometers from the Russian coast and 50 kilometers south-west of the usual passage of ships along the Kerch Strait under the Crimean bridge.

During the incident, three Ukrainian soldiers were slightly injured. They were given medical care, there is no threat to life.

Russia opened a criminal case on violation of the state border and requested an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Sea of Azov. A preliminary meeting is scheduled for 11:00 Monday (19:00 Moscow time).

Interesting that Russia's two main enemies currently - the jihadists in Syria and the Ukrainians - have both seemingly made huge blunders in just the past few days. First the jihadists launch a chemical attack on Aleppo, now this latest provocation from Ukraine.

I thought the same, except that instead of blunders I wondered if they weren't intentionally provoking, and I'm wondering why.

I would like to make a small correction and then share my thoughts. The amendment is that you call Ukrainians enemies of Russia. You may not have meant it, but it reads like that. I am Russian, a citizen and a resident of Russia, in 2006-2008, worked in Ukraine and, accordingly, talked a lot with residents of different places in Ukraine. Based on these facts, I can responsibly say that no one in Russia perceives Ukrainians as enemies. Enemies perceive the power of this country, artificially, technologically imposed on the people by external forces and pursuing a policy that pursues the interests of these external forces. The people of Ukraine for the most part also do not consider neither Russia nor Russians enemies. Personal experience of communication and modern statistics of mobilization, for example, tell me about it.
Now considerations about the simultaneity of provocations from different sides. The first thing that comes to mind is a single "Director" center of these seemingly distant from each other processes. With all relevant global goals and objectives.

Ukrainian opposition demands president’s resignation following Kerch Strait incident

On November 25, three warships of the Ukrainian Navy illegally crossed the Russian state border at sea.

The resignation of Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko is the only way to prevent rising tensions following the Kerch Strait incident, Ukraine’s parliamentary group "Opposition Platform For Life" said in a statement on Monday.

"Today, the priority task is to prevent rising tensions and protect the people. In order to achieve this goal, there is a need to dismiss all military officers involved in the Kerch Strait incident, which had put the lives and health of Ukrainian sailors in danger. We believe that ensuring President Poroshenko’s resignation and a new presidential election is the only way out of the situation," the statement reads.

The group also stressed that martial law declaration would not help resolve the crisis but will further deteriorate the political and economic situation in the country. "Taking advantage of the martial law declaration stunt, President Poroshenko seeks to usurp power and call off the upcoming presidential election that he is bound to lose. Martial law declaration will provide the current failed regime with an opportunity to mop up unwanted people, close down some media outlets and restrict freedom of expression, as well as the rights of Ukrainian citizens. The current regime has already gone bankrupt. They don’t have the right to bring the nation’s life to a halt over their lust for power and inability to resolve the armed conflict in the country’s east peacefully," the statement notes.

The group also called for launching an open and direct dialogue between Ukraine and Russia, which would also involve European Union members.

Spooked by martial law, Europe halts talks on Ukraine’s gas transmission system — expert

Europe has suspended talks on the participation in the management of the gas transmission system of Ukraine immediately after the topic of martial law emerged.

Europe has suspended talks on the participation in the management of the gas transmission system (GTS) of Ukraine immediately after the topic of martial law emerged, since this matter might lead to an energy crisis in the country, an analyst with the Ukrainian Institute of Energy Studies Yuri Korolchuk said on Monday.

"Once news surfaced about martial law that alone led to the suspension of talks on the participation of European partners in the management of Ukraine’s gas transit system after 2019. It means preparations for a new transit agreement have collapsed," the expert wrote in Facebook.

"While the probability of a transit crisis was estimated at one-third (30%) earlier, now it has rocketed to almost 80% (3/4)," Korolchuk stressed. "You have to remember in this case that talks with the EU regarding gas transmission system had progressed very slowly after Naftogaz hindered the process of the company’s spin-off," the expert said.

Korolchuk also predicts an electricity shortage. "Martial law will definitely result in the termination of coal supplies from Russia. Inventories at thermal power plants right now are equal to an acceptable minimum amount. There is nothing to replace the coal from Russia now and a gap in coal supplies would lead to rolling power outages," the expert said. Eighty percent of nuclear fuel comes from Russia, he added.

Furthermore, Ukraine is 80% dependent on imported gasoline, diesel fuel and propane-butane coming from Russia and Belarus, the expert added.

Russian President Vladimir Putin does not plan to convene a meeting with the members of the Russian Security Council over the incident in the Kerch Strait, Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Monday.

According to Peskov, the president works in Moscow on Monday. The president’s schedule for this day will be made public later.

Russia's top diplomat comments on Kerch provocation

Key international law provisions have been violated, Lavrov stressed.

The border violation by Ukrainian navy ships is a provocation breaking numerous international agreements, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference on Monday.

"It definitely was a provocation. Everything that needed to be said has already been said in statements issued by the Russian FSB Border Service, the Foreign Ministry and our spokeswoman. Key international law provisions have been violated, particularly maritime law and general international law, including the UN Charter, the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea and other legal documents, which demand that all states respect the sovereignty of other countries," Lavrov said.

According to him, the ships violating the border had put traffic security in the area in danger. "It was rather dangerous as they were maneuvering in a narrow strait. It created threats and risks for the normal movement of vessels in the area," the Russian top diplomat stressed.

At the same time, Lavrov pointed out that Moscow was not concerned about statements made by anti-Russian politicians who called for new sanctions over the Kerch Strait incident.

"We stopped being concerned about it a long time ago. Clearly, sanctions are always a bad thing but we have difficulties commenting on a policy calling for sanctions on a country whose sovereignty was violated in an incident such as yesterday’s. We can hardly be expected to influence people obsessed with only one idea - to search for new excuses to exert pressure on Russia," Lavrov said.

According to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), on Sunday morning, three ships from the Ukrainian Navy - the Berdyansk, the Nikopol and the Yany Kapu - illegally crossed Russia’s border and tried to carry out some illegal actions in Russian territorial waters on Sunday night. They ignored legitimate demands to stop issued by vessels belonging to the FSB Border Service and the Black Sea Fleet and continued maneuvering dangerously. In order to stop the Ukrainian ships, weapons had to be used. The three vessels were detained in Russian territorial waters. Three Ukrainian military servicemen suffered light wounds and were provided with medical assistance.

A criminal investigation has been opened into the border incident. The FSB said that evidence proving Kiev’s plans to carry out a provocation in the Black Sea would soon be made public.

Lavrov comments on Kerch Strait provocation

On November 25, three Ukrainian warships illegally crossed Russia’s state border in the Black Sea and entered Russia’s territorial waters performing dangerous maneuvers.

The November 25 provocation in the Kerch Strait was apparently conducted under the direct order of Ukraine’s authorities, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday.

"The fact that it was done under the goodwill and direct order of the leadership is undoubtable," he said, commenting on the violation of the Russian border by Ukrainian ships on November 25.

"When the Ukrainian side was planning this provocation, they must have calculated the additional benefits they wanted to derive from this situation expecting the US and Europe to blindly support the instigators, as usual," he added.

The Russian foreign minister added that it is hard for him to name the goals of Kiev’s leadership. "The Group of Twenty [meeting] in Buenos Aires is approaching. The Ukrainians also submitted a draft resolution on the militarization of the Sea of Azov at the UN General Assembly more than a week ago, and they must have thought it important to glean facts for this meaningless document which they spread in the UN," he went on.

Martial law declaration
Martial law declaration may give a free hand to Ukrainian radical nationalists, Lavrov said.

"We need to keep a close eye on the situation [in Donbass]," he said. "Violations of international humanitarian law have already become common there, which include the shelling of settlements and social facilities, and civilian deaths. If martial law is declared, then radical nationalists may feel that they have been given a free hand," the Russian top diplomat added.

"We strongly call on Kiev’s western sponsors to calm down those who are trying to take advantage from military hysteria and score political points in relation to the upcoming elections and other events taking place in Ukraine," Lavrov said.

A criminal investigation has been opened into the border incident. The FSB said that evidence proving Kiev’s plans to carry out a provocation in the Black Sea would soon be made public.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has come up with an initiative to declare a 60-day martial law in the country over the situation in the Kerch Strait. The Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine’s parliament) is expected to consider the initiative at an emergency meeting later on Monday. According to NSDC Secretary Alexander Turchinov, martial law may be lifted any time "if that the situation improves."

SIMFEROPOL - Twenty-four crewmembers of the Ukrainian warships that violated the Russian border have been detained in Crimea, Crimea’s head Sergei Aksyonov said on Monday.

"Those wounded are receiving comprehensive medical assistance at a hospital in Kerch. They are in condition of medium gravity. There is no threat to the lives of other 24 Ukrainian seamen who have been detained," he said in an interview with Russia’s television Channel One.

A source in the local law enforcement agencies told TASS earlier in the day that a Crimean court is expected to choose a measure of restraint for the detained Ukrainian seamen on November 27.

KIEV, November 26. /TASS/. The Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) has adjourned the session during which the parliament was supposed to approve Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko’s decision to declare martial law in the country. Shortly after the session began, members of several opposition parties blocked the speaker’s podium and demanded a detailed discussion of the current situation after Sunday’s incident in the Kerch Strait. According to them, Poroshenko has made this decision without consulting the leaders of parliamentary fractions, which contradicts the decision-making procedure.

The ministry's statement stressed "Ukraine is solely responsible for any negative developments that may take place after Kiev created a conflict situation in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea area".

MOSCOW - Ukraine’s Charge d'Affaires Ruslan Nimchinsky has been handed a note of protest against Kiev’s provocation in the Kerch Strait, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

"On November 26, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Ukraine’s Charge d’Affaires to Moscow Ruslal Nimchinsky, who was handed a note of protest against the November 25 incident, when Ukrainian navy ships had violated rules for the peaceful passage of ships travelling to the Black Sea through Russia’s territorial sea," the statement reads. "Nimchinsky’s attention was drawn to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement issued on November 26 and a note was also handed to him," the ministry added.

According to the statement, Russia stressed that "Ukraine is solely responsible for any negative developments that may take place after Kiev created a conflict situation in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea area.".

Possibly because Porkochenko doesn't have much chance to win the upcoming election and needs an excuse for martial law?

BREAKING: POROSHENKO PUSHES MARTIAL LAW IN RESPONSE TO KERCH NAVAL BATTLE - Fort Russ
By Ilya Belous & Joaquin Flores –
KIEV, Ukraine – In a massive development this morning, Monday, November 26, 2018, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) convened a session at the order of Ukrainian President Poroshenko, and it was voted to impose martial law in the country for 60 days. The proposal of the Secretary of the National Security Council Alexander Turchinov on the introduction of martial law was supported by Petro Poroshenko. At the same time Poroshenko assured that the decision will not limit the rights and freedoms of citizens.

poroshenko-turchinov-snbo-600x340.jpg
Thus, the Kiev junta, who illegally seized power in Ukraine as a result of a color revolution and an armed coup , fabricated a reason to cancel the upcoming elections and concentrate even greater powers in Poroshenko’s hands. Martial law gives the Kiev junta completely different powers to extend its stay in power.

Here are more ideas for reasons to increase tension:

More British troops will head to Ukraine to ‘defend democracy’ – Williamson set to announce
Published time: 21 Nov, 2018 13:08Edited time: 22 Nov, 2018 08:54

The UK will increase its military support to Ukraine, training their special forces and sending a Royal Navy ship to the country, the British Defence Secretary is set to announce, reports the Daily Telegraph.
The build up of forces in the eastern European country is to defend “freedom and democracy,” according to Williamson.
“As long as Ukraine faces Russian hostilities, it will find a steadfast partner in the United Kingdom,” the Defence Secretary will say according to the Tory-supporting Telegraph, who have apparently been provided with access to Williamson's speech.
[...]

“By continuing to work together, whether through training programmes or military exercises, we help Ukraine to stand up for our shared values.
"Those values of freedom and democracy cannot be traded. I have witnessed on the frontline the effects of the war in the east and this has completely reinforced my support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity,”Williamson is expected to say.
If someone in western Europe is uneasy when seeing the activities of fascist adherents in the Ukraine, then apparently one is to remember the "shared values".

The HMS Echo, a hydrographic survey ship with a crew of 72, will be sent to the region, while Ukrainian Special Forces are set to be trained by their British counterparts.

Some 100 British personnel are currently in Ukraine, reportedly on a training mission in the western city of Lviv and central city of Dnipro, according to the UK Ministry of Defence.

The UK has reportedly trained some 10,000 Ukrainian troops since 2015, in areas such as logistics and identification of improvised explosive devices.

Williamson has been steadfast in his support for Ukraine. During a visit to the country in September, the Defence Secretary – who notoriously told Russia “to go away and shut up”pledged UK support to the country.

“Ukraine remains at the front line of a smoldering conflict,” said Williamson, adding “but you do not stand alone.”

The number of new troops will be subject to Ukrainian requirements, with the Telegraph reporting that it's likely to total some 30 soldiers from the Army and Royal Marines. The new round of training is set to include the skills of mortar planning and counter-sniping.

Training teams from the Royal Marines and Royal Navy will arrive at the beginning of next year, when they will begin work with Ukrainian Marines and the 73rd Special Operations Forces Regiment.

Their mission will precede British Forces’ inaugural participation in the joint US-Ukrainian naval drills: ‘Exercise Sea Breeze.’
The British gesture of support comes as Kiev is approaching a crucial presidential election in March 2019, with incumbent President Petro Poroshenko’s approval rating remaining in single digits. Rebuilding the national armed forces is a key point in his campaigning rhetoric, so a pledge of support from Williamson ought to score the Ukrainian leader some political points.

Poroshenko’s reelection bid was hit hard by harsh austerity policies which he had to impose to secure continued loans from the International Monetary Fund. Ukraine also suffers from deteriorating security, as police fail to tackle criminal activities of various paramilitary groups declaring themselves patriots of the country. Its international image was hurt as well by rampant corruption, suppression of media and a rise of radical nationalism and outright neo-Nazism, which even countries not neighboring Ukraine are now finding hard to ignore.
Plans have been made for the US and UK navies to work with Ukraine. Will the execution of the plans now be moved forward?

Knowing how the majority of western media have dealt with the news with respect to Russia during this and since 2014. There can be little doubt that the Russian analysis of the goal of the provocation, as including increasing sanctions against Russia, is very likely true.
