Connection between humidity and prevalence of plague?

The article cites from a recent study that finds a connection between wet weather and higher prevalence of the plague (the standard Yersinia pestis plague). Might apply to the more serious forms of plague too?

The results of this Chinese study are kind of counter-intuitive, considering that plague is found mostly in arid regions like Cental Asia and the Rocky Mountains in the U.S. - according to the official version.
