[Croatian] Language as an obstacle to a better understanding

The Living Force
I noticed when I write posts and get your answers translator often falsified my and your answers and be quite incomprehensible and disjointed, sometimes regret not serve better English language and it would be nice to first figure out what someone suggests or wants to ask.
I know it's a real treasure to have knowledge, but this is really torture properly explain and ask what you're interested.
I was wondering if anyone else on the forum bothering same problem

Re: Language as an obstacle to a better understanding

Sorry to hear that, casper. What is your native language? Perhaps someone can give you a hand. For Spanish, German, French and Russian, we do have dedicated boards where we can share both the original and the translation whenever we are in doubt, and others correct it if necessary.

Otherwise, have you considered taking English lessons, or finding a course online? Reading a lot helps as well. And writing more and more.

for Chu
I studied in school 30 years ago, English, understand it well that they may agree, the problem we have some technical words that are not used in everyday speech, I try to read as much as possible in English to Laura's books and everything else, but that we take away precious time while I was looking for an occasional word because time seems to pass faster since I found Sott nett, and every minute I was very precious to her as a better use.

What are some of the technical words (for which there is no translation of context) that come up often for you?

Re: Language as an obstacle to a better understanding

For example, leap seconds, venture capitalist

Sorry, I forgot to answer that, I live in Croatia

Well, I took the liberty of changing the title of this thread. There are several Croatian speakers on this forum. I'm sure that someone will be glad to help you whenever you encounter difficult words or sentences. You can post them here, for example, and ask for assistance.

Me to :D

I can advise you that you you use forum as many times I had same problem but forum here and it was more clear. Also I use Croatian site val-znanje and on it you have all transcripts translated on Croatian. Any in any case there are people from balkans here who would always help you.

So when in need you can reach me as well

Well, I won't help. :)

I mean, I can't really. There is no easy way to learn English. You just have to use the internet tools a lot.

For example, for "leap seconds" when you go to google translate you get a translation in Croatian and also a definition in English:

a second that is occasionally inserted into the atomic scale of reckoning time in order to bring it into line with solar time.

And you can also get some examples when you click on the arrow. Very useful thing if you know some English. If not, well, then you should take same online course or maybe find an English teacher in your town.

For "venture capitalist" you don't get a very good translation, but you can go to wikipedia where you can find a Croatian page for that expression: _http://hr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rizični_kapital

This method does takes away your precious time but it also gives you something - a precious language skill. But like Laura said, a computer programs can only be a prosthesis for our brain (in this case our language skill). We are the ones who have to do the most of the work.

Dear Persej, I am sorry that as a former administrator me very dear to the forum you want to help someone who is stuck in the English language knowledge, but thank you for your honesty.
I sincerely hope that you will never be in my situation (first financial because they can not afford a course of English), and other health care (again returns to finance because only private therapy unfortunately give concrete results)
For everyone else a big thank you.
