Crow With The Knowledge Of Archimedes

I always admired certain animals for their survival, maternal/paternal or instincts, but they can do much more.
I've seen dogs looking for pedestrian crossing before crossing a road, or waiting at the stop lights.
Crows are also intelligent - they smash walnuts by releasing them to fall to the earth - but never seen something like this video.
Enjoy!

That's fantastic, Shared Joy! Who woulda thunk it?

I just love smart animals.
The other day my wife came across a kangaroo standing at a bus stop.
She didn't stop the car to give it a lift though..
I wonder where it was going?

Yes, animals are much smarter than we usually give them credit for. More loving and caring as well. Souls on their own Journey.

And I love them for it.

Thanks Shared Joy for the really cool video ! I am a keen birder, and their level of intelligence when observed in nature always astounds me, this video just proves it more :)

I used to work by the beach, and often I would see crows carrying clam shells and dropping them from high altitudes onto rocks to break them open. They need those omega 3's for their brains methinks. ;)

Hi,
I remember the case of a crow brought up by humans which remained open to "education". I think this is the case of the crow in the above video, as everything was arranged for him to do the trick, so he might have been trained to do it. Anyway, it showed remarkable openness for developing new skills, so the environment matters a lot in everybody's development, be it human or animal.
We have an influence over all of our partners, so better pay respect and attention to them.

This video seems to be more natural - dog and crow playing ball

And here is Braveheart Parrott and Placid Cat - hope he's still alive...

Crows use ants as medicine , according to this Link @ X .

Full quote : " Crows discovered antibiotics millions of years before humans. When a crow gets sick, it does something that looks insane — it finds an ant colony and deliberately pisses them off.The ants attack. They spray formic acid everywhere in defense. The crow? Doesn't run. It spreads its wings and just... takes it. Lets the ants crawl all over its body. Here's the genius part: Formic acid is a natural antibacterial and antifungal compound. It kills the parasites and microbes that destroy feathers. The crow is basically giving itself a chemical bath.Scientists call this "anting." Over 200 bird species do it. First documented in 1831, but birds have been doing it for millions of years. It gets weirder. When ants aren't available, some birds grab LIT CIGARETTE BUTTS and rub themselves with the smoke instead. They found a substitute for their medicine. We spent centuries "discovering" antibiotics. Crows were running their own pharmacy this whole time. Here's what strikes me: evolution is the original drug discovery engine. Billions of years. Trillions of experiments. No hypothesis — just relentless trial and error until something works. Now we're building AI systems that do the same thing for antibody design — searching vast molecular spaces, predicting protein structures, optimizing binding affinity. What took nature millions of years, AI can explore in days. "
