Crystals a replacement for sensitive electronics?

Popular opinion is that they used crystals as a technology during the reign of Atlantis.

Given that electronics are sensitive to fluctuations from the sun, isn't possible that they started out with electronics, then developed crystals to be a more robust form of technology?

I think the distinction between crystals and electronics can get a little arbitrary at some level, since all electronics do carry essential crystals or liquid crystals to record and relay information. Because of that, I think even regular crystals would be sensitive to the sun as well, just not at a level mainstream science currently understands.

The thought popped into my head that you could observe crystallization under different solar conditions to see via chaos theory how the orientation of molecules changes and how that affects greater structures. But then again, what do I know?

Crystals are commonly used in electronics in oscillators for instance.

if you use a search engine to find images of crystal caverns you will find heaps of examples like this.

Some crystals exhibit a piezoelectric effect, and these are used in igniters for gas ovens and hot water services.
If you squeeze or distort the piezo crystal they generate electricity, this may explain the glow you see just before an earthquake.

Crystals have been grown in space.

As for Atlantis, who knows what they did with them?

For decades there is talk that in the future we will leave electronic circuits for photonics.
If the Atlantis civilization lasted for many thousand years, I think it is natural they made much progress in photonics. Photonic circuits don't have heat problems, nor electrical induction problems, nor electromigration problems, and could run incredibly fast.
