Curious about something!

Hey boys & girls! Good day to all:)

Not knowing where to post this thread Ed decided to post it here! He discovered something very interesting during some changes made, but he is still not sure he can attribute them to the changes.

In November 2015, Ed visited someone in Germany. Besides living to Denmark, Germany was the 2nd country he has ever visited in his life. There was something about that place(Bonn, Germany), even though he stayed for 3 days. He simply stopped smoking. For a sudden he felt some sort of repulsion to the cigarettes(smoking since he was 20 or so, now he am 23). He hasn't smoked since. Can't say it made a difference for him. But strangely he also gained more power in his left hand(even though he is left handed he used to be more powerful in the right hand). When he trains his hands, he lift chairs and make use of gravity and hard grabbing angles so he can make the chair heavier to lift. Apparently he felt more confidence of a sudden in his left hand when lifting. The right hand could barely do it. Somehow he also became more motivated in the daily stuff, avoiding procrastination and jumping on action. He also started having dreams again.

Ed is not relating it to smoking, but since he came from that place something felt slightly different. Maybe a german spirit attached? :scared: :P
If anyone has any ideas, Ed would be really grateful!
Thank you!

Maybe it was getting away and clearing your mind? Or having a breath of fresh air? Have you made any changes to your diet and are you taking iodine?

Hi Ed,
the iodine intake decreased my need for smoking, that's what I observed.

Other than that, pay attention to things like: attention span variations, awareness flickers, moods changing. See what could account for, let as say, keeping the beneficial changes.

Happy contemplation!

It is a long time Ed is consuming fats, wallnuts, sometimes chocolate. But he does not need feel for sugar(he likes a banana when he remembers it in the supermarket, but other than that, he dislikes shopping so he's always on the run buying the usual:bacon, eggs, butter, and some vegetables from time to time. He enjoys salmon as well), like he used to when he was younger. Problem is, he still jumps at a pizza or a burger very rarely(eats once then maybe next month, or maybe in 2,3 months.. He might have taken some iodine from salt, but he only started 1 month ago to take iodine pills. So that doesn't count as this event happened in November.

3d Student, maybe that is possible! Maybe he was getting away! Ed really doesn't know what to make of this.

Maybe it was the travel or experiencing another way of life. Travels can have a lot of impact on the organism, many of them probably not too beneficial, but it can also serve as a "shock" to the system, thus bringing us out of a deep rut our life has happily settled in, which might - in the right person, at the right time - wake him up and piuh him in an other more positive direction. I know that many of my travels have done this, but I generally realise that only long after the fact.

For me since getting started with iodine, my nicotine consumption has rather gone up, I need more nicotine chewing gums when I am unable to smoke at work. Has anyone else noticed a similar thing?

Yeah, i too have had increased cravings for smoking more after starting the Iodine therapy...and that is perfectly fine i think...

Just a note about Bonn; i have visited the city a few times, and all i can say is that it always feel strange. Something was a bit "off" about it. Even the colours used in the walls in the subway station was weird in my opinion (bright orange, green or yellow panels) - reminding me of the movie "A Clockwork Orange". fwiw

Why are you posting in the third person?

Have you read In Search of the Miraculous Menna? If yes, what parts were memorable for you? In Ed,s case this was a memorable part.

"Let us suppose, for example, that a man called Ivanov hears the description of this
method of self-observation. He is told that a man must divide himself, 'he' or 'I' on one
side and 'Ouspensky,' 'Tetrov,' or 'Zakharov' on the other side. And he divides himself
literally as he hears it. 'This is I,' he says, 'and that is "Ouspensky," "Petrov," or
"Zakharov."' He will never say 'Ivanov.' He finds that unpleasant, so he will inevitably
use somebody else's surname or Christian name. Moreover he calls 'I' what he likes in
himself or at any rate what he considers to be strong, while he calls 'Ouspensky,'
'Petrov,' or 'Zakharov' what he does not like or what he considers to be weak. On this
basis he begins to reason in many ways about himself, quite wrongly of course from
the very beginning, since he has already deceived himself in the most important point
and has taken not his real self, that is, he has taken, not Ivanov, but the imaginary
'Ouspensky,' 'Petrov' or 'Zakharov.'
"It is difficult even to imagine how often a man dislikes to use his own
name in speaking of himself in the third person. He tries to avoid it in every possible
way. He calls himself by another name, as in the instance just mentioned; he devises
an artificial name for himself, a name by which nobody ever has or ever will call him,
or he calls himself simply 'he,' and so on. In this connection people who are
accustomed in their mental conversations to call themselves by their Christian name,
or surname or by pet names are no exception. When it comes to self-observation they
prefer to call themselves 'Ouspensky' or to say 'Ouspensky in me,' as though there
could be an 'Ouspensky' in them. There is quite enough of 'Ouspensky' for Ouspensky
himself.
"But when a man understands his helplessness in the face of 'Ouspensky' his
attitude towards himself and towards 'Ouspensky' in him ceases to be either
indifferent or unconcerned.
"Self-observation becomes observation of 'Ouspensky' A man understands that he
is not 'Ouspensky,' that 'Ouspensky' is nothing but the mask he wears, the part that he
unconsciously plays and which unfortunately he cannot stop playing, a part which
rules him and makes him do and say thousands of stupid things, thousands of things
which he would never do or say himself.
"If he is sincere with himself he feels that he is in the power of 'Ouspensky' and at
the same time he feels that he is not 'Ouspensky.'
"He begins to be afraid of 'Ouspensky,' begins to feel that he is his 'enemy.' No
matter what he would like to do, everything is intercepted and altered by 'Ouspensky.'
'Ouspensky' is his 'enemy.' 'Ouspensky's' desires, tastes, sympathies, antipathies,
thoughts, opinions, are either opposed to his own views, feelings, and moods, or they
have nothing in common with them. And, at the same time, 'Ouspensky' is his master.
He is the slave. He has no will of his own. He has no means of expressing his desires
because whatever he would like to do or say would be done for him by 'Ouspensky.'

Since that flight something actually happened - Eduard got really scared of flying. So it must have been a shock or something because he wanted to kiss the ground when he arrived there.

Yes, that is true. There is a strange atmosphere in that town. Pretty lonely town, Ed passed by Beethoven's house, and got a strange feeling about the surroundings. But who knows, maybe it activated something in him, or woke some senses up.

Well, different places very well could have different frequencies so perhaps getting a breath of fresh air in a different place has done you good.
If you have taken the benefits with you and they have remained then it's a positive :)
