Dave McGowan Books

Hi everyone, just read a couple of Dave's books, namely, "Understanding the F Word" and "Programmed to Kill: The Politics of Serial Murder". IMO this guy is seriously good. The two books are on the recommended reading list. His Laurel Canyon series I think was derived/spawned from his research into the "Programmed to Kill" book. Really good insight into degenerates in power. aaron

Dave McGowan is one of my favorite authors. He does his homework, connects the dots and is talented at communicating in writing a great sense of humor.

Always worth reading.

Programmed to Kill was a difficult book for me to read. It really got into the heads of these psychopaths. It is important to try to understand that people like this are out there.

Hi Anya, whilst I enthused about what a good book "Programmed To Kill" was, I would also describe it as a descent into evil. Really unnerving!

Hi Aaron. You are correct. "Programmed to Kill" described a descent into evil. "Understanding the F word" is nearing the top of my book list.

I agree: Dave McGowan's work is very good and should have a wider audience.

Programmed to Kill: I read the preface last night, and I sensed where it was going and I realized I'm probably not going to be able to read it. Am I burying my head in the sand? Maybe, but maybe I already know that children are used in horrific ways (just read SOTT headlines) and it's my choice to not dwell on the details? Books like these really seriously make me consider going on a personal crusade to battle the forces that take pleasure in harming children. After I think about it for minute though, I realize that this would require me to immerse myself in the very world that I would want to destroy. It would require me to be exposed to the very atrocities that make me want to curl up and die. I don't think I would have the strength to carry it through. I guess the best defense is to give my 3 year old daughter the best love and life that i can.

And Love is Light is Knowledge. ;D Better start reading so you can give your daughter the best knowledge you can about how to defend herself from predators.

Redwraith33, an important feature of this book is that it gives a big picture of the promotion and cover-up of child abuse on the highest levels. This is what takes it beyond a collection of gory details, and that's what has the ultimate staying power within the reader's mind.

I realize that this would require me to immerse myself in the very world that I would want to destroy. [..]I don't think I would have the strength to carry it through.

This reminds me of a quote from the movie "Doubt", when the main protagonist says,

"When you take a step to address wrongdoing, you are taking a step away from God, but in his service."

May it provide some comfort.
