Hi
Just searching through freak weather stories on the net and came across only the headline on yahoo and google search for this, a few lines show as a header in the search and the page doesnt work; Ah now it does but still only a few lines. Any one have any kind of link to more details.

September 2007
FREAK SNOWSTORM

Salzburg in Austria was buried under almost 10in of snow yesterday following some of the hottest temperatures on record. Climatologist Helmut Derka: "This cold snap is very unusual."

Well that is strange, typing in a search only brings the above post up in the no 1 slot in google . Including climatologist Helmut Derka with the words Salzburg and snowstorm bring up nothing at all.
The date in the header for the daily record piece was the 7th of September. But that doesnt stamp the day this happened only when it was reported. There may be tons of stories on the incident in the German language , but I wouldnt know what to look for.

Can any German speaking members find a report on the incident?

cheers

i haven't heard anything about 10" of snow in salzburg.

i checked a couple of austrian sites, and none mention anything unusual.

methinks the international folks made a translation error/omission - i think there was some snowfall in the mountains around salzburg, but none at lower altitudes.
