Did you catch the Mr fish Jesus pic?

I was meaning to post about this Mr. Fish picture of the day on Sott a few weeks ago. It's this one here.

Fish_Savior500.jpg

This was probably the most moving or meaningful picture he has done for me. It just works on so many levels, and the irony is awesome. The disconnect between the church authorities and the Jesus concept is clearly presented. And it's so in the face of the church leaders like something saying, "You are doing it wrong, let me show you how to really care for someone."

It was hopeful in a savior way too, or kind of like, "This is what to look out for." I know nobody can save you, but perhaps Mr. Fish kind of fills that role with his revealing images. I just thought this one was cool and I like to think that there is some realization that traditional Christianity has some specks of decency in it.

So very true! WOW, great find, 3D Student and thanks for sharing it! I think this one is worthy of being a SOTT image of the day, but I don't know if Mr Fish would appreciate his works being appropriated...

Wow! A really great visual juxtaposition of papal-tiara-as-a-"Jaws"-shark and Christ walking on water. Thanks for posting.

I had a hunch about the boy's rainbow shirt, so I checked, and - yes - he drew it for truthdig's The War on Gays.

The pope steals the show. His eyes!

I have yet to figure out why these kings, Sufis, popes, Japanese royalty, witches, Cumans, medieval princesses, etc wear these tall hats on their heads.

It irritates me when "everybody does something" but "no one knows exactly why". My radar picks up 4D STS trying to hide something.

It was a SOTT image of the day for several days a few weeks ago.

Well, he gets even more famous :P.

I also loved that picture since it was released by mr. fish as the "PopyLeaks" happened, at the beginning I thought, oh a shark what does it mean...? Until I discovered that it is the pope, I had really to juggle.

Oh, I misunderstood and must've been offline then. Thanks for clarifying, anart!

Oh, I didn't even notice the color of his shirt. Another detail to this complex image, thanks for pointing it out.

Regarding the current Mr Fish cartoon.

The penny has just dropped: you can't fly on wings of money (paper or not)..... :-[
Obvious once the penny drops. It took several days of back burner thinking or a few beers down the pub with good "lateral humor/tenuous links/one upmanship" type of banter to set my mind up.

My excuse is that I didn't identify the "feathers" as paper money previously.

Is there a way to respond to quotes/quirks/thoughts/pics etc on the Sott main page?

Thanks to Imeness, I just caught this Fish topic and love it!

I also understand this image as a representation of deep cognition. A sort of 'how' Mr. Fish's and our internal language (non-pathological-ized in this case) or 'direct knowing' works.

It seems the artists and more gifted among us can bypass the 'word machine' and translate internal language into a universal understanding, or images that can represent a universal language. It's like a form of telepathy or something. :)

This seems similar to how I experience my own internal language, or deeper meanings I sometimes 'get' from some narratives. For example on the surface, the Cinderella story can be used to teach concepts like patience, forbearance, etc, but I get a bizarre deeper understanding that I suspect as a cultural brainwash for girls. The lesson being that "good" girls who shut up and do as told, no matter what, will eventually marry a prince and live happily ever after.

But then, I seem to live in Bizarro world and could easily suspect it's just me, except I've also heard this same 'meaning' expressed by others as well.

Apologies for the excessive chatter, but I get excited by meaningful artwork. So, to get back on topic, no I didn't catch the Mr fish Jesus pic when it first appeared, so I thank you for making a topic about it to draw to it some more attention!

The imagery looks straightforward: It's Icarus with dollars instead of feathers, flying too close to the debt ceiling, also known as the Sun, or Reality.

He's Daedalus' son, after all.
