Agreed. I think Dave Longstreth is one of the most incredible musicians making popular music right now. To see him play the guitar live is a pretty extraordinary experience!

I assume you have heard his collaboration with Bjork from last year titled Mount Wittenberg? It was created for an intimate accoustic bookstore show, and they recorded it in mostly single takes. It is a simple story of a woman on a cliff contemplating a mother whale and her three babies and the mother whale contemplating back. Simple straightforward and evocative lyrics. And those poly-rhythmic voices! Absolutely breathtaking.

It's pay what you want, and all profits go to the National Geographic Society Oceans Initiative.

------------------

I'm not sure I know what I know is right and true
What I don't know I'm sure I feel right now with you
When the world comes to an end
I will have loved you
For a long time
For a long time

When I saw your slight smile I wanted to know you
Until the day that I die I'm in love with you
When the world comes to an end
I will have loved you
For a long time
For a long time

---- from When the World Comes to an End

And the only other one who I could ever believe
Is the one who I could feel
But never really see
Looking from the island at the deep

---- from No Embrace
