I wanted to show a quote from Krishnamurti I received recently from an RSS feed I subscribe to. I have started practising the Eiriu Eolas Breathing program and meditation DVD/CD. The quote was received around a month after I started practising the meditation and breathing program. Please read below.

"If you set out to meditate it will not be meditation. If you set out to be good, goodness will never flower. If you cultivate humility, it ceases to be. Meditation is like the breeze that comes in when you leave the window open; but if you deliberately keep it open, deliberately invite it to come, it will never appear."

I know we should look at the benefits of meditation on an individual basis. Personally I find the relaxation meditation brings me after a day at work reason enough to continue. I wanted to know if anyone else had any thoughts on the quote? :/

I think Krishnamurti is wanting to draw attention to the cancelling power of 'anticipation' - the fact that if you go out looking for something (because you are afraid you don't have it, or can't find it), the emotional thought (fear or whatnot) takes priority and will make sure you actually have what you are afraid of having or not having.

Look at the underlying assumptions for 'chasing' meditation benefits - is the driving force some kind of fear that if you don't, something bad will happen (or something like that)?

I wouldn't read too much into this, or try to project meaning onto it. What he is saying is: You only find things you don't try to find, which is the anti-thesis of intent and will. EE meditation is with a seed, with a purpose, a goal. Making efforts in a direction trains the will, and cultivates intent.

What he has said is basically the spiritual equivalent of "a watched pot never boils", which I have recently proved beyond a shadow of a doubt to be false. I watched that pot the whole time and it still boiled.

It has been four months since I posted my introduction and shared that I would enjoy discussing the works of Jiddu Krishnamurti.
In that time, I continue reading his works and while doing so; in the back of my mind, thinking about how would I present my understanding to a wider audience such as this forum? And to make it productive to those wanting to dive deeper into his works.

Doing this would be a monumental task in just a few posts, so I felt that I can begin presenting some of my understanding and open a chain of discussions for others to expand, or allow others to share what they can, which would help me or others understand better about this topic.

I am not sure why I felt compelled to discuss his incredible philosophy, but as I mentioned in my introduction; reading them did bring me peace.

I know they're are many sources for reading, hearing and seeing his many talks that have been given throughout his life. One source has already been mentioned : jkrishamurti.org, I see that this is a great source of information, and I would recommend to those to visit it, if interested.

To begin;
Wonderful as they are, just quoting bits from his talks does not relay the full intent of what Krishnamurti was trying to teach.
Most of his writing are presented by opening with an awareness. This is like the time of day, the weather, the smell of the area, sounds and surroundings, what he sees of nature, and of other people; noting, and not in judgement but observation, of others and their mannerisms.
Just by this prolog, which lots of his works are presented, I feel that is to teach us what is an aware mind. My understanding is, the true nature of meditation. Here is one example found in the work; Can the Mind Be Quite

It was really a most beautiful morning. There was a slight mist over the trees and on the river. The sun wasn’t up yet but would be in a few minutes. There were many fishermen in their little boats, in which they slept under a covering, dark shapes against the light of the water. It was still quiet; the noise of the city and the roar of the train across the bridge had not begun. Now the sun was coming up. You could see it just behind the trees, a great ball of golden red. In a minute or two it would be over the trees. It was now making a golden path on the water. As it was a very still morning without a breath, the mist lay on the river a little longer. The warmth of the sun would soon dispel it. Then you saw the river, wide, deep, a marvellous thing, full of ecstatic beauty, as still and wide as a lake. Now the fishermen were going home to their nearby village with the night’s catch. The gold on the river had gone; now it became molten silver, dancing, shimmering with the full light of the sun. You could not look at the sun itself, it was too strong, but you could look at the river with its brilliant light. And the beauty of that light would last all day, though the sun set behind the minaret in the noisy, dirty city.

Other ways of his introductions are clarifications of his teachings. and example of this is found in First Talk in the Oak Grove:

Please have the patience to listen without being carried away by words, or objecting to one or two phrases or ideas. One must have immense patience to find out what is true. Most of us are impatient to get on, to find a result, to achieve a success, a goal, a certain state of happiness, or to experience something to which the mind can cling. But what is needed, I think, is a patience and a perseverance to seek without an end. Most of us are seeking; that is why we are here, but in our search we want to find something, a result, a goal, a state of being in which we can be happy, peaceful; so our search is already determined, is it not? When we seek, we are seeking something which we want, so our search is already established, predetermined, and therefore it is no longer a search. I think it is very important to understand this. When the mind seeks a particular state, a solution to a problem, when it seeks God, truth, or desires a certain experience, whether mystical or any other kind, it has already conceived what it wants; and because it has already conceived, formulated, what it is seeking, its search is infinitely futile.

Therefore, it is important to understand the operation of one’s own mind, not self-analytically or introspectively, but by being aware of its total process; and that is what I would like to discuss during these talks. If we do not see ourselves as we are, if we do not understand the thinker— the entity that seeks, that is perpetually asking, demanding, questioning, trying to find out, the entity that is creating the problem, the ‘I’, the self, the ego— then our thought, our search, will have no meaning. As long as one’s instrument of thinking is not clear, is perverted, conditioned, whatever one thinks is bound to be limited, narrow. So our problem is how to free the mind from all conditioning, not how to condition it better.

As you can see above, I can go on quoting all day like this; which would not be a proper way of conveying what I have experienced in reading them myself.
Understanding Krishnamurti's works is really about understanding oneself. Teaching of enlightenment can not be done, it is you that must experience enlightenment and awareness; not be told about it.

Many times he has tried to make the point that we are unlimited, but limitation is placed by us because most of our we are conditioned by time. The past, its experiences, and the future and how the this affects that perception. In true meditation, which is base on our awareness of everything in existence around us and within us, which is our true self, is not expressed in time.

Hopefully this initial introduction of this thread will be extended by me or others.

I do understand what humanity is now experiencing, should we approach it with fear, or wonder? Maybe that understanding the works of Krishnamutri, is to be started by understanding our way of thinking, conditioning and history.

Knowing his words is really knowing ourselves.

And while Krishnamurti indicated in all likelihood that he suffered what might be deemed “trauma-based mind control” in the form of sexual abuse from his Theosophy Society mentors, he apparently never found the strength the tell reveal the whole story out loud. Fortunately, there are records from the highest court in England of a custody battle between Besant and Krishnamurti’s father that includes discussion of Charles Leadbeater’s rape of Krishnamurti and other children. It isn’t easy to live your entire life inside of a cult that raises you up publicly while speaking poetic words about the divinity of the soul while internally harboring organized child sex abuse. Perhaps we should all be asking if such hedonic domination is the primary point, or tool for civilization management.

I looked into these court records in England, and the custody trial between K's father and the Theosophical scumbags reads as follows:

The allegations of sexual abuse against Leadbeater were deemed less important by the judge who ruled in favour of Narayaniah [K's father] in the High Court of Madras in 1913, in comparison to the custody rights of the biological father. Yet, the ambiguity of euphemisms and allusions used only added to the scandalisation of the case. The scandal emerged from accusations lobbed against Leadbeater by Narayaniah, who first heard from Besant’s servant, Lakshman, about the inappropriate behaviour of Leadbeater towards Krishnamurti.

There were several incidents that were brought up in court, which mostly focused on Leadbeater being caught bathing with a naked Krishnamurti. Narayaniah’s case emphasised that it was considered inappropriate to bathe naked in Hindu culture. More disturbingly, however, Narayaniah testified that he had also stumbled across Krishnamurti and Leadbeater sleeping naked together. Any sexual acts, if committed, were not mentioned in court:

Narayaniah (N): found Mr. Leadbeater and Krishna lying one over the other.
Narayaniah’s lawyer (NL): Was Mr. Leadbeater dressed?
N: He had his shirt on.
NL: And your boy?
N: The boy was completely naked.
NL: I don’t want you to speak out what you saw but write it on a paper and hand it over to His Lordship. What did you do?
L: I flung open the door and went in. Both of them got up. The boy Krishna picked up his undergarment and tied it to his waist. And Mr. Leadbeater was trying to cover his part with his shirt.

With the silence in the archives, one can only guess at what could or could not be said in court or preserved in writing, as well as what could only be disclosed in writing to the judge and be excluded from the archives. This was not the only instance of unrecorded details in the testimonies given, which were seen as too explicit to be spoken out loud and written into the legal records.

I read this and thought it as no wonder K rejected Theosophy. It sounds like he was subjected to hell - raped and then told to go be The World Teacher. This is all wrapped up in the British Empire's horrific activities in India, too. I think it's no wonder what the C's said about Indian children being targeted - the British 'opened up' India, and its children, for this sort of treatment.

A: Bits childrens organs removed while wide awake - kidneys crushed - then next feet - next jaw examined on table - tongues cut off - bones stress tested - pressure placed on heart muscle until burst.

Q: Why are you saying these awful things?!

iamthatis research is worth paying attention to. All that information and more is correct about Krishnamurti and his rise in Theosophy. The first casualty of war is truth and Theosophy was another control narrative of the West's strength. Along time ago I was interested in what Krishnamurti had to say and would listen to the delivery of his epistles as he sat on his hands. I did not learned much. I was already capable of attention which his talks demanded but they led into cul -de-sacs. When discussing other listeners opinions they invariably manifested embarased confusion and an inability to pinpoint the meaning of what they heard. Krishnamurti was a very gentle soul with beautiful eyes and cosmic bewilderment in his manner. Many others treated him as if he was holy and chosen but I sensed the weight of an affront.

Thank you iamthatis for finding this information. I can understand that ideas that Krishnamurti discussed would be a threat to the world created order of the past 1000 years (or a lot more) and is at its STS pinnacle today.

Many times in his journals, he mentioned that he physically suffered a great pain in his head. It was not detailed what could have caused this, but it consumed many years of his life in trying to control it. In later writings, he no longer mentioned it. I can see that this suffering could have been related to the pain he was subjected to in his youth.

I still am amazed at his insights about the idea of war, governments, societies and religions and how those ideas are so correct today. Only if his students really listened and practiced the ideas of his suggestions, we may be in a better place today. Most of those students were looking for a guided list of steps on how to achieve an upper hand in the material world. They did not hear the words of Krishnamurti. I feel that his teachings tried to help us understand that we must work to find our true self and realize the perfection of what is around us as we live. In that understanding we would know true meditation, which is an unconditional love of all things.

I realize that the good soul has to face many hard lessons at this time. Keep studying and realize that what so ever thing done in love holds the truth.

When he was about 11 or 12 years old he was playing at the beach with his brother Nitya and others kids in front of Theosofic society led by C.W.Leadbeater and Annie Besant.These two are also related somehow with H.P.Blavatsky.When CW.Leadbeatre saw him first time he was astonished.
He said that he never saw that aura,he said that his aura have no trace of selfishness,and other similar things.
And then Leadbeater and co.decided to have this poor little boy,because they think he is new World Teacher,The Master, a God.

So they took him and his brother in to Theosofic Society,and start to treat him and behave,and programing him to become new Leader.And Krishnamurti actualy get everything what he want-literally.
After a while they took Jiddu Krishnamurti in London to learn languages and more others programs to be a God.Leadbeater and Beasant really belive he was reincarnation of God.Lord Maitreya.

What others people say about Jiddu Krishnamurti,about his personality,his behavior,his energy,his teachings for the moment you can say he is God.He was amazing human being,something very special very rear,but not a God,Jiddu Krishnamurti himself was aghast of this labels.

And clearly that was the point of his transformation.
Same year Leadbeater asked Krishnamurti to have some speech in India,and Krishnamurti refuses,because he want to be with his brother who still suffered from tuberculosis.Leadbeater said that he must trust them and if he go to speech his brother will be ok.Krishnamurti accepted.
Just when he arrived in India he get telegram that his brother died.Another point of transformation i would say,because death of brother touched him very deeply,he just couldnt belive.
And after a while he do the speech,he stand in front of a lot people,people who worshp him as a God and said:“the Truth is pathless land“.

So ill stop here a little bit and look back on a early comment about sex abuse and pedophilia.
I must admit that iI never heared about anything of sex abuse and pedophilia in Krishnamurtis life.
Wich doesnt mean that it didnt happened.If it is true then I think Krishnamurti was victim of all that.His neck pain or head pain of course can be result of abuse,but the people who suround him said it was in the moment of transformation,and also it can be some kind of „attack“(you know what I mean).But really it doesnt matter ,what is matter is days after his speech in India.Because his entire teachings is nothing offense,nothing violent,there is no any kind of destruction,nothing like that.

So „the truth is pathless land“he said…“there is no religion,government,guru,organisation… who can lead you to the truth,you must find it for yourself“.And also he says that is dangerous to have someone who can lead you ,that is why these „organisation“never succeed.Man must doubt in everything and everyone,especilly him.Many many times he said:„dont belive me,dont trust me,doubt it,find it for yourself“.You must admit that there is no religion,guru or any pearson who use that kind of words.

Now,related to this, after about 20 years of channelization of C`s,Laura said that she is still suspected to C`s,and then C`s said „that is good ,it happens learning much more“.

And in that speech in India Krishnamurti quit all that.He quit Theosofic society,he quit Order of a Star in the East,he left literally everything,even he rejected himself.Once someone ask him „Who are you?“ and he answer „Nobody,simple as that,Im nobody“and then he continued „You must ask yourself Who am I? that is right question“.And we can say that is basics of his teachings.

Krishnamurti do the talks to the rest of his life even he dont like it,he said:“Im not interested in talkin“he likes remain in silence very much.But he feels some kind of impulse to do that because he feel great commpasion to the man kind.And in that speaches,very often,you could see him very passionate,for the diffrence of many others“ teachers“.
He spoke about everything;religion,society,politics,God,man,philosophy,physics,everything,but must of all awareness,consciousness.He wants to man to reach that state,state of consciousness.

He said:“The crisis,is crisis in consciousness,the crisis that can not anymore accept the old norms,the old patterns,the ancien traditions.And considering what the world is now(remember that was before about 60years)with all the misery,violent,destructive brutality and so on…man is still what he was,still brutal,violent,agressive,competitive,acquisitive and he`s built a society with all this lines“.

When Krishnamurti talks with audience and someone put a question or problem he says:“OK lets find it together“.He never said:im gonna tell you what to do or where to go etc.but „Lets find it together“.

Isnt that networking!?!?

So there is a lot of similiar things between Krishnamurti and what we have here.But it takes a lot of research,lot of watching and listening to understand him,but its definitely worthwhile.I am a living proof, it helps me a lot.

Krishnamurti do the talks to the rest of his life even he dont like it,he said:“Im not interested in talkin“he likes remain in silence very much.But he feels some kind of impulse to do that because he feel great commpasion to the man kind.And in that speaches,very often,you could see him very passionate,for the diffrence of many others“ teachers“.
He spoke about everything;religion,society,politics,God,man,philosophy,physics,everything,but must of all awareness,consciousness.He wants to man to reach that state,state of consciousness.

He said:“The crisis,is crisis in consciousness,the crisis that can not anymore accept the old norms,the old patterns,the ancien traditions.And considering what the world is now(remember that was before about 60years)with all the misery,violent,destructive brutality and so on…man is still what he was,still brutal,violent,agressive,competitive,acquisitive and he`s built a society with all this lines“.

When Krishnamurti talks with audience and someone put a question or problem he says:“OK lets find it together“.He never said:im gonna tell you what to do or where to go etc.but „Lets find it together“.

Isnt that networking!?!?

So there is a lot of similiar things between Krishnamurti and what we have here.But it takes a lot of research,lot of watching and listening to understand him,but its definitely worthwhile.I am a living proof, it helps me a lot.

Thank you for the additional insight and information on the life and experiences of Krishnamurti! You have dug into his history very well and I very much appreciate your overview of what you learned.
I have read some other’s interpretations of him from others, and few of those have tried to demonize him and contradict his private life as hypocrisy. I think this is driven to make his insight and inspiration of no valid importance because of their lack of awareness; in my opinion. Your additional insight in his early history is very wonderful.
I feel some of this negativity is just the tactics of our current world and from people that have difficulty of understanding the beauty of what comes from the heart or love. Our those that have no patience to put an effort in truly studying.
Your realization is very close to what I understood.
I feel that during the time of his important teachings, people wanted a spiritual check list that could be checked off in some order to achieve the enlightenment that they thought his ideas were all about. But as you said, it comes from within each of us.
It took me a few books to realize what he was really talking about. As you mentioned “YOU ARE EVERYTHING” there is no separation of God and all things. (The cosmic mind)!
I could fill his frustration in reading some of his talks, on the proper way to meditate, people wanted a check list of answers, but he showed those that were awake, that just walking in this world with no expectations or judgment, was his teaching of that meditation, he was trying real hard to convey this, but few really understood the connection. This understanding brought the light and love of God of which we really are, at least in my heart and understanding.
His insight is so relevant of today and we can see how better the world would be if more people followed just a little more and not be consumed in the novelty of the time.
This is truly networking as you mentioned. I see it also as collaboration; gaining understanding from others that have some more experienced in an area of study or thought, where both can contribute and uncover deeper meanings through each creative insight and experiences. We can then come closer to all that is.
