That's pretty reminiscent of what Tony Stark was using in the Iron Man and Avenger movies where you can move the database and information around with your hands and use that as a means to collect and scroll for information.

So something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KPhqy7ZwHU which is a few scenes from Tony Stark interfacing with his computer isn't too far if it hasn't been created already to some degree.

It's several levels up on what I was familiar with, like what Tom Cruise was using in Minority Report. Interesting developments, for sure -- even if only speculative movie trickery for now.

Can't forget the ever-realistic CSI Miami "surface interface" (a creation of the Microsoft research lab in Redmond, Washington. It is called the Microsoft Photosynth) either.

I'm not saying it's impossible, (their results from DNA etc wouldn't arrive in a minute for example) just that this was a Miami state crime lab from years ago. A fictional show but still...
