Doctor Who / Torchwood.

Does anyone watch this?
The more aware i (i think) become the more the storylines in these TV series become intresting.

Last night i accidentally switched onto an episode called "full moon attack" about an alien invasion. (doctor who new series - i think)

I was watching it with an aquaintance and happened to be talking about the reasons why there are triggers in films and TV's, and whether it was an agenda for us to wake up.
Just as i said this - They started talking about alien-beings being im-printed into the subconcious of every human being! And then.... that subliminal pictures of aliens were being placed in tv shows and adverts to trigger these memories in the humans subconcious!
I was pretty shocked to see this in such (what i though) a family friendly and innocent show!

This episode was also about abductions and people repressing their trauma! And the messages being used to trigger it so they would remember.

When I was 3, I watched "Doctor Who and The Planet of the Spiders" a story about giant spiders.
What in the world were my parents thinking?, I hear you exclaim. Well, that's another subject.
Anyway , parents from all over the country phoned in to say that their children suffered from terrible nightmares as a result from viewing this episode.
If you google this, you will see others still remember the nightmares.
I actually remember having to sleep on my parents' bed, wide awake, seeing thousands of spiders all around me. This happened for a number of days. I still hate spiders.

I've watched a few episodes of the original Dr. Who when I could catch it long a go and I always thought it was a fascinating show.

It talks about alternate dimensions, and basically 4D. I tried watching the new version and couldn't really get into it because it seemed to lack budget and acting was really bad, but I think the actor has been recasted several times and the show seems to have more budget now, but I haven't gotten around to seeing it yet.

Doctor Who is pretty much the only thing I'll download to watch anymore. Everything else is abrasive and horrid, I find. And I know what you're talking about; DH presents a lot of very interesting ideas; humanity being controlled by an invisible, malignant force which has been around since the invention of fire. Very telling.

Though. . , this latest episode was doing some odd things which seemed rather anti-Doctor. I don't like how he was suddenly condoning violence and murder. I took a great deal of encouragement from the fact that he was the "Man who never would!" but suddenly he's joking about Riversong being able to kill lots of aliens in a sick flirty sexual kind of way? I do not like that tendency one little bit. Also, I noticed that when Riversong shot that last 'Silent', she said, "I'm an archeologist".

Struck me as being an Indiana Jones reference, which I've recently begun to question that alignment of. My yuck-o sensors were pinging.

I think Moffat has some very interesting ideas, but he's not done any Work. Guys like that are dangerous exactly because they're affecting global media without knowing what they're channeling or how to filter out the junk.

It's sad, because I've always thought Doctor Who was a really plugged-in and positive show, (in the same way the X-Files were inspired by the C's, as they mentioned once), but. . .

Well, grains of salt.

I watched it when David Tennant played DrWho. I found this new one too idiotic and alienish to loose my time on it.

Doctor who/tortchwood are about the only TV I'll watch (usually I'll catch it on line repeat rather than watch it on TV)....the only other series was Being Human (that touched on the idea of psychopaths indirectly, through the theme of a vampire/warewolf/ghost trying to live a 'normal' human life....and no, not the American version of the show).

I tend to agree with Woodsman's assessment, the concepts where particularly good....but doctor who has always been staunchly anti-violent, so this new series direction seemed like a departure from the usual. Having said that, I got the feeling this new series is being sold to America, so has been slightly 'Americanised'.

I enjoy watching the new Doctor Who episodes, and I do find them "interesting" at times. I also watched part of the first season of Torchwood, but there was too much mayhem for my tastes.

The "Children of Earth" (torchwood series 3) was excellent. Some of the previous story lines where rather chaotic, but I highly recommend it simply because of how the media and government get portrayed (heck, they even used 'vaccination for children' as a cover story in that one). _http://www.bbcamerica.com/content/262/index.jsp

Yes. "Children of Earth" was pretty amazing and unexpected. It seems England is a country of high contrasts; home of crop circles and world banking villainy.

Ive been watching series 2 of doctor who on catch up tv - and i must say theres so many topics covered, even in the first 6 episodes ive watched.

Beings from another dimension (who look human) abducting homeless people and experimenting on them.
The general population having information 'downloaded' into them, through a device in the brain. Making their behaviour predictable.
Kids at school eating 'special meals' that makes them 'function better'.
Amongst others!

Talk about being in plain site!
Nothing that would gobsmack anyone on this forum, but im pretty suprised what they throw in front of our faces and label as fiction - on prime time british tv.
Strange that someone (whos more un-aware) could watch eastenders (thinking it pretty much sums up life, and is realistic) and then watch Doctor Who afterwards, thinking its ideas/concepts are out of this world.

There are many fascinating concepts being explored, specially in the newer seasons.

For example, there is a technology they call "Perception Filter", which forces the minds of humans to be misdirected/distracted while aliens hide in plain sight. They are forced to pay attention to unimportant things or perceive things/beings the way they aren't, while aliens roam around manipulating them and convincing everyone everything is fine. Definitely sounds familiar to me.

The most recent season is a joy to watch, very creative stories about humans versus aliens/the unknown. Highly recommended.

Watched the original series and enjoyed it. Curiously, in thinking about a certain ruthless French Capitain mentioned in the 'The French Connection Redux' thread, was reminded about the Monty Python 'Spanish Inquisition' sketch and I see that there was also one based on this from Dr. Who.

I did finally watch "Children of Earth" some months ago and it was rather thought provoking.

I just finished watching the last of Doctor Who season 6 a few minutes ago. My but doesn't "the silence" sound familiar from somewhere! Very interesting.

Watched "Torchwood - Children of the Earth" over the weekend. Pretty intresting. (Not bad entertainment value either)

**Spoilers**
Basically Aliens return after 50 years to take children. Previously in 1965 they took 12, now they want 10% of Earths population. It seems like they use them to feed off them - they keep them alive, but they never grow up, as if they just drain the energy off them.

I watched the Miracle Day series recently, after it became available on iTunes. I have apparently gotten over some of my queasiness that kept me from finishing the first two years of the show. I guess I find the series more interesting in terms of observing my own reactions as I watch, and noticing how the show goes about provoking those reactions. There is a "psychopathic PTB" theme running through it, but with too much emphasis on bad Sci Fi, especially at the end (which I only glanced at while I did something else). Real-world psychopathology is more subtle, I think.
