I'm so sorry for Pepe, Alana. :( I met him once, he's such a sweet dog. I have no advice to give, so I'm only offering you my support. Whatever happens, I hope he won't suffer and I'm sure you'll find the best solution for him.

Same here. I met Pepe back in Grand Prairie. He is a sweet doggie. Pepe was fortunate to have lived a loved and cared-for life thus far. I hope you find an answer to Pepe's situation soon.

Hello Alana, I'm sorry to hear what is happening with your pooch.

I searched for a solution in Hulda Clarke's book, "The Cure for All Diseases", and she is quite big on getting parasites out of our pets.
She recommends Parsley water: boil up some fresh parsley for three minutes, and when the water has cooled let the dog drink as much as it needs. This will allow the kidneys to flush slowly. Flush too fast could cause problems as the dead parasites clog the tubes up.
Throw the parsley out.
The next thing she had was Black Walnut Hull tincture: One drop on the animals' food.
Then she has Wormwood: a small pinch on the food.
Followed by Cloves: a small pinch on the food.

This is all detailed on pages 343 to 345 of her book.
You might still find a free copy online.

I would suggest that you start with whatever you have available, don't wait until you have all the ingredients.
I trust this will help Pepe.

(note: The above is only going to help if the dog has a parasite problem, which is more than likely. If the kidneys are failing due to a disease process, and this is also likely, well the best we can hope for is pain relief and comfort)

I´m so sorry for Pepe, and more so for you. It´s always such a tough time when our dearest pet friends lose their usual joyful exuberance. That led me to regretting many times that such a spontaneous synchronous relationship between humans and dogs are meant to be that short tough it´s also true that such a short lifespan makes them even more valuable as companions.

Whatever happens, I´m confident you will make your best for Pepe´s wellbeing, which he will much appreciate, be it just by wagging his tail a bit!

So sorry you are going through this with Pepe, Alana. One thing I didn't see mentioned is how are his teeth and gums? Sometimes a build up of tarter on the teeth can cause a host of problems. FWIW.

Just a note that the presence of tarter on the teeth is considered to be one of the symptoms that kidneys maybe compromised. Kidneys's role is to filtrate blood and clean out all the toxins. If they don't function properly, the body tries to excrete the toxins in other ways, like through the skin and mouth. So it's like the chicken or the egg dilemma.

Apologies if this sounds strange, but i just had a thought, since my granddad’s dog is visiting and he's very old. He bumps into walls sometimes.

May there be some pain relief if you put a blanket on top of the sauna blanket at a very low level and for Pepe just to sit on it for a short time once in a while? - if he is able of course.

I saw Broccoli (Grandad's dog) sitting in the sunshine waiting for them to return from a trip out, and i jumped in the FAR sauna, and it occurred to me. Because i can feel relief just sitting on top of it, maybe it's just the heat though, i don't know.

Thank you all for your suggestions and kind words I learned a lot about kidney disease in dogs these last few days, and one of the things that most vets write about is that it's very hard to detect it early on, more often than not the symptoms show when most of the damage to the kidneys has been done. Like in the case of Pepe. So now it's very important that he is comfortable and calm. He ate more food than the previous days today, and he let me know when he wanted to go outside for short walks for his toilet needs. Before he couldn't help it. He is still fatigued though and sleeps a lot.

Canine kidney failure is common, especially as our 4-legged-friends get older, and these are a couple of good articles about it, their description of the early symptoms especially:

So sorry to hear about Pepe's condition Alana and hope there can be a positive result for both of you .

Looking around the web on this issue, it appears some people have had success using Aloe Vera juice, as well as the ACV. Found it here - http://www.earthclinic.com/pets/chronic_renal_failure.html#aloej. All anecdotal of course, but it is an option. It seems harmless enough, with excessive amounts producing diarrhea. It is recommended to use pure juice from the inner leaf only and without preservatives.

Another thing I wanted to share was my experience with this site and remedy - http://www.healwithease.com/.
They use muscle testing and energy remedies to heal and can treat people or animals anywhere in the world. Had I discovered this years ago, it would have likely been quickly dismissed as "garbage". However, given what has been learned from the C's/forum, I decided to try this on my own dogs. One dog in particular has shown a marked improvement in an old leg injury. The leg is still weak, likely always will be, but he now seems to be pain free or at least much reduced in pain.

Not sure if they could help Pepe with his condition using this method, but who knows. Just wanted to share FWIW.
