Dreams and Synchronicities, Or: Do Seers Dream of Prophetic Sheep?

I've recently been trying to catalog my dreams and note any synchronicities that align with them in the waking world. It's fairly slow going because I tend to lose my mental grip on any dreams I have immediately upon waking, but yesterday was an interesting day (a crossroads day, I think) which was followed by a lovely dream that I managed to recall thanks to the very personal nature of the subject.

Let me start with the events of yesterday's waking hours:

I was outside with my 5 year old daughter, puttering about as she was digging in the dirt. On my way back from the mailbox, I happened to glance down at a patch of clover that grows along the edge of the driveway (right in front of the garbage cans, of all things!) and immediately spotted two four-leaf clovers, side by side. Without searching, without bending down. They were just there, looking up at me.

I looked back into history and realized that April 30 marked the 8-year anniversary of when my husband decided to throw caution to the wind and come meet me in person, after 15 or so years of knowing each other online. (I won't get too into the weeds about that, but suffice it to say him making that decision was extremely brave, considering his history and traumatic upbringing and young adulthood.)

Right after finding the clovers, I noticed a bird flying overhead, making a sound I don't often hear. I tracked it and watched as it disappeared into the high hollow of a tree in our front yard. It popped its head out briefly and I could see that it was a red-bellied woodpecker. I thought to look up woodpecker symbolism and found that new opportunities, creativity, and determination seem to be among the most common symbolic interpretations, which felt right to me as I am currently working on writing my first novella.

So, yesterday was a lovely day. And then night fell, and... I dreamed of my late best friend, who died in April of 2002 when we were just 19. I haven't had dreams about her in a long, long time. But last night, she was resurrected -- quite literally, in my dream. She wasn't just alive like she'd never died, she had been brought back to life. I heard news of this miracle somehow and immediately tried calling her to confirm. At first, the phone didn't connect, but upon the second try, I heard her voice for the first time in 23 years. When I went to meet her, it was in a zoo of all places! I saw her on a footbridge and ran to her, and we shared a long hug. It was magical.

And then I woke.
