E-cigarettes: research - experiments - ideas

What’s left is a dark-brown juice that I mix in with the vp/pg and nicotine juice - just for flavour, but it seems to work well.
So you are vaping tobacco mud. Very creative!!
How are your coils doing?

Not sure if there is a lot of nicotine left in that leaf juice, but at least it tastes good, so I’m not overly fussed about that.
When stored dark the nicotine remains. It will degrade some when exposed to light.

I have been putting tobacco residues in whiskey for months and ended up with a brownish sauce that I then slowly let evaporate on a warm stove
The classic method of flavour extraction would be to use the whiskey and filtrate it. I use gravity filtration by storing the alcohol in the fridge and wait until the dust settles.

Haven’t noticed any issues, so far. Have had this one going for a long time …

I don’t really want to inhale the alcohol (irritating), hence the evaporation of the mixture on the stove. It thickens a bit, too, which I like - the end consistency is slightly syrupy …

Thanks for sharing, this is much less pricier than where I've been getting nicotine boosters so far.

I've been using an Oxva Nexlim 0.8 pod, 100%VG+nicotine and I haven't had any desire to go back to cigarettes which I stopped probably almost a year ago. I haven't tried adding distilled water yet, so maybe I'll give that a shot.
Could you please write down exactly how are you doing your mix and how do you fill your vape?

I switched back to the cigarettes because, in the end, all the vapes didn’t agree with me; they messed up with my taste buds and left me with a weird taste in my mouth and sometimes an upset stomach. And I was using nicotine salts for vaping, not vape juices.

I was thinking just yesterday to give vaping another try.

Thank you!

One possible cause is intolerance to pg. In this case it would help to use a vg-water mix in any ratio. I use 1:1.

Another possible cause is artificial flavors.

Yes - just through a fine-meshed sieve.

You jinxed it!!! 😂
Just had to change the filter, as it was clogged beyond recovery and I was gulping down juice …
Proposal:
- use gravity filtration as the next step, either in a glass jar or in an upside down squeeze bottle. For additional safety the squeeze bottle can be put in a glass. One day in the fridge or a few hours in a freezer should be enough.
- if there is a lot of mud at the bottom you can filtrate this again through a cotton wad. I use a baking syringe with a cotton wad inside. If necessary repeat until the liquid is crystal clear.

You'd need 3 things: an empty bottle for the e-liquid which you can get at any vape shop, 100% vegetable glycerin (you can also get it on amazon or iherb and some health food stores have it) and 100% VG nicotine boosters.

In the empty bottle, pour in 3 nicotine booster (which come in 10ml bottles), add in 30ml vegetable glycerin. That's it, simple, shake the bottle so that it mixes together and you're good to go. Or use 2 nicotine boosters and 20ml vegetable glycerin if you get a smaller e-liquid bottle.

For the gravity filtration method, what filter do you use (cotton wad as well)?
None!
Gravity alone does the job of clearing the liquid. Floating particles sink to the bottom. This works best in a cold environment like fridge or freezer. Cotton wads can be used in a second step for further filtration of the residues at the bottom.
And don’t understand where (and why) the freezer comes in.
see above

I will show the process in a separate post with photos.

Gravity filtration
usable for clearing of water/nicotine solutions and alcoholic flavor extracts

The following photos show an alcoholic flavor extract

1. In the first step we put the alcoholic solution in cold storage for clearing, using a glass. The photos show the clear liquid and the residue at the bottom.

Alternatively we could use a squeeze bottle upside down. Then the residue will settle at the opening of the bottle and can be squeezed out easily.

2. The residue can be either discarded or filtrated some further. In the latter case we can use any king of funnel with a cotton wad or filtration paper. I prefer to use a baking syringe with inserted cotton wad or pad.

As for filtering, capillary siphoning with a paper towel might also work (don't know what viscosity you are dealing with). If you hang a cloth or paper towel in a container of water/liquid on the one end, and the other end hangs down outside below the water level inside, it will start to drip once it soaked up, leaving sediments behind.
