Hi tonosama,

It's not an unusual occurrence for an earthquake in Uganda. Here is a report done in 2000 where the abstract says,
Although uncommon, earthquakes have proved to be severe worldwide with Uganda being one of the most seismically active areas on the African continent. The country has recorded a number of earthquake case histories involving deaths and million dollars worth of damage.

There was an earthquake of magnitude 7.2 along the Uganda - Zaire border in 1966. On 17th of January this year, there was an earthquake there with a magnitude of 4.8. So I reckon this latest tremor just indicates that the whole area is really becoming unstable! :scared:
