'Eating meat is as bad as paedophilia'

Technically, a vegetarian is one who "eats beings", because plants are living things.

Yea this gets me every time too! How can you say something like that and not reflect on the fact that plants live, breath, reproduce, and even communicate. They are every-much a living being as animals, maybe of a lower consciousness mind you but living and responsive to their respective environments none the less.

Exactly! It's an illogical dividing line between living animals and living plants. I read once that the inventor of the polygraph got bored once during the research phase, so he hooked up a plant to the device. The plant had a definite response when they killed a fly in its presence.

I've read some of those accounts as well. He found that he got the most intense response when he thought of setting the leaves to fire. At the time he didn't have matches or a lighter in his possession but just thinking the thought caused this response in the plant. This was done with several different patrons; all produced the same response on the polygraph device. The deduction being that they are also aware telepathically. This added or altered my view of just how aware plants can actually be.

Further, all of his plants produce sporadically intense readings when one of his associates walked into the lab. Later he found out that the individual that caused this cut lawns for a living and somehow they picked up on that. It could have just been the smell of cut grass on his person but again how many actually think about the capabilities of plant life awareness. This perceptiveness is more than some 3D humans I know. Funny when you think about it.

Again this just makes everything much more interesting and complex. So black and white thinking when it comes to this topic doesn't seem like the best way to go.
