Election result in Romania annulled due to 'Russian interference'

I think the US should sanction everyone involved in this election stealing farce in Romania. Both JD Vance and Trump brought up Romania a few times, but will they do something? Romania may be largely irrelevant to the US, but getting more allies within the EU (currently only Hungary and Slovakia) could benefit them.

All i can say and hope is : go on Romanians, do what has to be done.

Georgescu should be called Ponta the 2nd. 2014 elections 'scandal' that made way for Claus Iohanis, Ms Merkel's protégé.

Interresting and intelligent response from other romanian politics, let's hope they are really honest about what this guy promises

Calin Georgescu Interviewed by Rainer Fuellmich (on Feb 26, 2023)

"High-ranking representative of the UN explains how oligarchs control diplomats"

[Dr. Reiner Fuellmich had been arrested on Oct 13, 2023 in Mexico on a European and German warrant while getting a new passport at the German Consulate and sent to Germany on charges of "fraud" where he is still in prison]

Quite a turn of events in Romania: another anti-EU nationalist won the repeated first round of the presidential election. He openly campaigned with the previous frontrunner Georgescu who was banned from running again:

Romanian PM resigns after anti-EU nationalist takes election lead

Marcel Ciolacu has stepped down after a shock presidential rerun that saw right-wing firebrand George Simion take the lead in the first round

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has announced his resignation and effectively disbanded the country’s pro-EU ruling coalition, after a Eurosceptic right-wing candidate emerged as the frontrunner in the first round of presidential elections.

With over 95% of votes counted in Sunday’s presidential vote rerun, George Simion, leader of the right-wing Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), is projected to secure 40.52% of the vote, according to the news site G4 Media. He is well ahead of his pro-EU challengers, former Senator Crin Antonescu and Bucharest Mayor Nicusor Dan, who both hovered slightly above 20%.

Addressing reporters at his party’s headquarters on Monday, Ciolacu acknowledged that “our coalition has failed to meet its stated objective.”

“I saw the vote cast by Romanians yesterday, and it shows that the coalition, at least in its current form, lacks legitimacy. That is why I have decided that we must leave the coalition, and accordingly, I am submitting my resignation,”
the official stated.

The PSD party will also abstain from backing either candidate in the second round of the presidential election slated for May 18. Antonescu, who had been supported by the ruling big tent coalition, comprised of the Social Democrats, the liberal PNL party and the Hungarian minority party UDMR/RMDSZ, failed to secure a place on the run-off ballot.

The “stated objective” Ciolacu referenced likely refers to the coalition’s 2024 campaign promises of stability and pro-EU continuity.

Following the dissolution of the ruling coalition, cabinet ministers are expected to continue serving in an interim capacity for the next 45 days until a new majority emerges after the second round of presidential elections.

Simion is a vocal critic of the European Union, which he has described as a “greedy and corrupt bubble,” and has taken aim at Brussels-mandated immigration and energy policies in particular. While on the campaign trail, the right-wing politician clarified that he favors a “Europe of sovereign nations, not a federal superstate,” and also spoke in defense of “traditional values” in contrast to “globalist ideologies,” represented by LGBTQ and gender ideology.

While insisting that he is not pro-Russian, Simion has opposed weapons deliveries to Ukraine, calling for a negotiated settlement.

In November 2024, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) blacklisted him over “systematic anti-Ukrainian activities.” Neighboring Moldova also banned the Romanian politician after he labeled it an “artificial country” with no chance of ever joining the EU.

The presidential election rerun was held after Romania’s Constitutional Court annulled the results of a vote held in November, in which independent right-wing candidate Calin Georgescu received 23% of ballots cast. The authorities cited “irregularities” in his campaign, as well as intelligence reports claiming that Russia had meddled in the election – an allegation Moscow has strongly denied.

In March, the Central Electoral Bureau barred Georgescu from running again, citing his alleged “extremist” stance and a failure to comply with electoral procedures.

Simion has publicly supported Georgescu, arriving together with him at a polling station on Sunday.

“We are here with a single mission: to restore constitutional order and democracy,” the AUR candidate told reporters.

It seems that, despite all the turmoil, the deep state has managed to install their puppet. Now let's see how the people respond.
Romania’s pro-European Union presidential candidate Nicușor Dan won the country’s presidential election Sunday, defeating his ultranationalist rival.

With 100% of the votes counted, the centrist candidate won nearly 54% of the ballots cast, a clear win over hard-right candidate George Simion, who is a fan of US President Donald Trump.

Simion, who opposes providing military aid to Ukraine and is critical of the EU, looked on track to win the election after he swept the first round on May 4. However, Dan gained ground after trouncing Simion in a televised debate.

Meanwhile in Hungary:

This is why Orbán supports Simion, Romania’s nationalist, anti-Hungarian presidential candidate:

The foreign minister said on Monday[...]

He said the Hungarian government has stood up for the rights of the Hungarian minority consistently since 2015, yet “the left wing-press start worrying for Transcarpathian Hungarians” when coordination talks are cancelled in the midst of the propaganda attack. This, he added, amounted to “double standards”.

"Obviously we want to continue coordination talks with the Ukrainians about Transcarpathian Hungarians … as the Ukrainians have been making promises for ten years while cheating us for ten years and steadily taking away Hungarians’ rights. You can rest assured that a change to Ukraine’s anti-Hungarian policy … won’t depend on this single coordination meeting.” Meanwhile, Szijjártó said when war was being waged in a neighbouring country, then it was natural to carry out preparations for self-defence. “We have maintained this policy for three years: to protect Hungary from the war, to stay out of the war, not to allow them to provoke us into getting involved in a war under way next door,” he said. “And when a war is under way in the neighbourhood, you must be prepared to protect yourself. That requires an army and capabilities, and the Zrinyi 2026 scheme was not launched only recently, but the development of Hungary’s armed forced has been on the agenda for quite a few years, as we must be able to protect ourselves. Unfortunately, the current situation makes this all the more clear,” he said.

IMPORTANT: VOTER FRAUD IN ROMANIA SINCE DECADES!?

I read that Simion lost in Romania because: “There are roughly 2 million urban voters that come out during the second round and they always vote against either the socialists (PSD) or the populist-nationalists”

When I read that I was mesmerized, for me it actually proved voter fraud by the EU for decades in Romania!

It looks like a standard scheme by the EU bureaucracy to ensure the EU centre wins in Romania and the country does not change course.

I checked the elections in Romania since 1992 and they had one pattern:
- The political direction changes with every election between left, right, center
- The voter turnout always decreases after the first round. It’s obvious since there are less candidates to vote for and no new candidates appear.

‼️ Then Romania joins NATO (2004) and the EU (2007), the confrontation with Russia begins (and the country is strategically located for that).

We see a new pattern in Romanian voting:
- The political direction always stays the same, always EU centre wins
- The voter turnout starts to increase in the second round, what ensures that the EU center candidate wins.

➡️ To be blunt, The EU adds new votes to the second round to ensure their candidate wins!

If you remove the voter turnout increase, which did not existed before the accession to the EU, they would lose! The country would have continued its natural course of switching left, right and center candidates. But this magic voter increase in the last moment ensures the EU wins! Every time!

Follow a series of posts analysing elections in Romania since 1992, here's the last one for 2025 :

2025: Voter turnout increased by 2 million votes, the center wins again!

➡️ Without voter increase the EU candidate would have lost here.

0) Voter turnout:

first round
- 53.21%
- 9,571,740 votes
- 141,466 invalid votes

second round:
- 64.72%
- 11,641,866 votes
- 134,171 invalid votes
➡️ +11.51% increase

➡️ 2,070,126 extra votes, 21% extra votes compared to the first round.
This is insane.

1) George Simion - right
first round:
- 3,862,761 votes
- 40.96%
second round:
- 5,339,053 votes
- 46.40%

difference:
+ 1.476.292 votes
+ 5.44%

2) Nicusor Dan - centre:
- 1,979,767 votes
- 20.99%

second round:
- 6,168,642 votes (tripled the votes. Never happened before)
- 53.60%

Difference
+ 4.188.875 votes
+ 32.61%

➡️ He more than tripled his votes. That never happens. If you remove the 2 million voter increase in the second round, he loses and his numbers look like they should look.

I am measuring against elections before 2004, when candidates alternated and the increases looked moderate. This is just insane and not believable.

📊 Summary: No change in political direction! After cancelling the previous election with Georgescu, since it was shaky for the EU, they got better election setup in the first round.

But they still needed 2,070,126 extra votes, 21% extra votes compared to the first round.

➡️ Without voter increase the EU candidate would have lost here.

Looks like the usual PTB's pattern to rig elections worldwide.
