I am not suggesting that this is the greatest social medium, but I just want to say that Laura quoted Gurdjieff recently....

"If you help others, you will be helped, perhaps tomorrow, perhaps in one hundred years, but you will be helped. Nature must pay off the debt...It is a mathematical law and all life is mathematics. - G. I. Gurdjieff ... via Laura Knight-Jadczyk

I posted it on my status, these words touched me deeply, and I am still amazed at the 'likes' I am getting from friends who are not, to my knowledge, even familiar with Gurdjieff. Although they are words that would touch some 'normal' people, and I am glad to be friends with normal people!!, it amazed me the speed at which these words were 'liked'.

I'm thinking, Maybe a sign of the times... Some people are searching for something, hopefully they will find it in the works of Gurdjieff, and the message that Laura shares with all of us. I don't know, but I was amazed to find so many people 'liked' it with in minutes of posting.

I'm not really surprised, it's a great quote! ;D

But it's definitely interesting to notice when people like certain things on FB that we share. And it can be quite helpful to some, like sharing diet/health articles or even some political ones. Some people are looking for answers even though they don't know what they're looking for. So keep on sharing, you never know who is reading! :)

Maybe, but I'm not so sure. I think that quote can easily be a "feel good" statement for some, along the lines of 'bad things only happen to bad people'. In this case it's the opposite, if you do good things, good things will happen to you. People in general like to think of themselves as good people, which is very non-specific. Perhaps they follow the rules, pay their bills, and do what the various authority figures tell them to, therefore they are "good" people. They certainly aren't the bad guy criminals, which makes them good by contrast. Since they have that in the bag, they are good to go.

My two cents.

I agree, or it could be a combination of different ones, who "liked" it for different reasons. Adding to the list, those who like to think that if they do good things, they will be rewarded, and only do good things in order to be rewarded, without really having the will to help others.
