I will remember him with admiration and gratitude for his many works and teachings, which continue spreading to more communities and offer an alternative to living dependent on oligarchy. He is one of my heros...

Rest in Peace, Bill

Thanks for posting this, Cindyj.

I became familiar with Bill Mollison's contribution to better agricultural practices from some permaculture farmers I met in Sebastopol, CA, but I didn't know this bit:

article said:
After founding Permaculture Institute in 1978, he formalized the training of practitioners, which directly impacted hundreds of thousands of lives, and indirectly many millions more. For his service to humanity, he was honored with numerous awards, including the Right Livelihood Award in 1981. But of all the accolades he received, the one he was most proud of was the Vavilov Medal, in large part due to the tenacity, courage, and contributions of the award’s namesake, who Bill considered a personal hero. Bill was also the first foreigner invited and admitted to the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

How cool.

May he rest in peace knowing he offered wisdom to our world. A hero indeed.

Thank you Cindyj for this topic. :)

Didn't knew about much about his work, I started organic gardening mostly inspired with book "One straw revolution" by Masanobu Fukuoka and few others but not Bill.
I just watched his interview that Turgon has shared and must say that Bill Mollison deserves all the credits for bringing people back to their own Being!

Bless your soul and rest in heavenly peace Bill Mollison.

I don't know very much about Bill Mollison but I did find this interesting interview from 2006 where he discusses what motivated him to get involved with permaculture, communities and spirituality.

The same for me, he was for sure a great soul who launched (with the help of his student David Holmgren) one of the most useful movements in this world.

My favourite quote from Bill :
“Though the problems of the world are increasingly complex,
the solutions remain embarrassingly simple.”
― Bill Mollison

Oh, BTW, his family asked people to plant a tree to honour his memory...
