Feel-good internet memes on Facebook

Excuse me if I am stating the obvious here!

Some Facebook pages seem to put out content that seems designed to make the viewer think something like: "Wow that's amazing. . . Scientists will solve all of humanity's problems . . . The natural world is still beautiful and relatively unspoilt by humans . . . Ingenuity will overcome all of our environmental problems."

Each item can get shared or liked by tens or hundreds of thousands of people.

I don't know if these kinds of news aggregator sites originate from conscious or unconscious COINTELPRO, but the net effect (excuse the pun) seems to be that they reach a pretty large audience with the message "Don't worry, everything is wonderful."

I will just give one example:

"I f****** Love Science", which has over 5.5 million likes.

". . . just five litres of sea water a day could power a family home and an electric car"
