The article posted on SOTT appears to contain an unnecessary anti-Muslim attack.

The procedure is prevalent in some majority Muslim countries and is sometimes called "cleansing" by its practitioners.

A different article about the same story makes no reference to Muslim or Islam, and I think that omission is better when mainstream media is trying to make people anti-Muslim. From what I can remember about female genital mutilation when I learned about it many years ago, it was described primarily as a practice in Africa and I don't remember any mention of Muslim or Islam.

Detroit physician charged with mutilating girls’ genitalia

Robert Snell , The Detroit News Published 11:54 a.m. ET April 13, 2017 | Updated 6:15 p.m. ET April 14, 2017

A Detroit emergency room physician was charged Wednesday with mutilating the genitalia of two 7-year-old girls in what is believed to be the first case of its kind brought under federal law.

Jumana Nagarwala of Northville was charged with female genital mutilation, a five-year felony, and transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, a felony punishable by 10 years to life, according to a complaint unsealed Thursday in U.S. District Court.

“According to the complaint, despite her oath to care for her patients, Dr. Nagarwala is alleged to have performed horrifying acts of brutality on the most vulnerable victims,” Acting Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Blanco said in a statement. “The Department of Justice is committed to stopping female genital mutilation in this country, and will use the full power of the law to ensure that no girls suffer such physical and emotional abuse.”

Nagarwala was arrested Wednesday night and arraigned in federal court Thursday.

She was dressed in a light-colored, matching dress and khimar, or veil, that covered her head, neck and shoulders.

Magistrate Judge Anthony Patti scheduled a detention hearing in the case for 1 p.m. Monday. Her attorney and the government will argue over whether Nagarwala should be held in prison while she awaits trial.

In the meantime, Nagarwala will be held in jail until Monday’s hearing.

Her attorney, Shannon Smith, who has offices in Bloomfield Hills, declined to comment on the case Thursday.

Nagarwala’s employer is not identified in court records. But a 44-year-old emergency room physician with the same name is listed on Henry Ford Health System’s website with hospital privileges in Detroit and West Bloomfield Township.

A Henry Ford spokesman confirmed that Nagarwala works for the hospital system and said she has been put on administrative leave.

“The alleged criminal activity did not occur at any Henry Ford facility,” health system spokesman David Olejarz said Thursday. “We would never support or condone anything related to this practice.”

The FBI investigation alleges Nagarwala removed clitoral skin from two girls who were brought to Detroit earlier this year, activity that violates both federal and state law regarding female genital mutilation.

Widespread violation

Female genital mutilation is an internationally recognized violation of human rights and is popular among certain religious and cultural communities, according to the FBI. The procedure is believed to initiate girls into adulthood and ensure their marriageability, according to Human Rights Watch, a New York nonprofit human rights organization.

The practice is most common in parts of Africa, the Middle East and Asia, along with migrants from those regions, according to the World Health Organization.

Worldwide, an estimated 140 million women and girls have undergone the procedure, according to the World Health Organization. More than 3 million girls in Africa undergo the procedure each year.

“Female genital mutilation constitutes a particularly brutal form of violence against women and girls,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel Lemisch said in a statement. “It is also a serious federal felony in the United States. The practice has no place in modern society and those who perform FGM on minors will be held accountable under federal law.”

FBI picks up trail

The case against Nagarwala dates to at least February. The FBI had launched an investigation after receiving a tip that Nagarwala performed female genital mutilation on 7-year-old girls at a Livonia medical clinic, according to the criminal complaint.

Nagarwala does not work at the clinic and there are no billing records indicating that she has performed medical procedures there, according to the complaint.

In February, FBI agents obtained a court order to review Nagarwala’s phone. The records showed several calls between Nagarwala’s phone and a Minnesota phone number, according to the FBI.

Agents learned the Minnesota phone number was linked to a family that included a 7-year-old girl.

Agents reviewed records for the Minnesota phone and learned from cell tower data that the phone was near motels in Farmington Hills on Feb. 3 before being returned to Minnesota the next day.

Hotel records helped show two families, each with a young girl, stayed at the hotel on Feb. 3. Surveillance video from the unnamed hotel show two adult women and two girls checking into the hotel.

Seven days later, an FBI child forensic interviewer talked to one of the girls, who said she was brought to Detroit with a second girl for a “special girls’ trip,” according to the FBI.

After arriving in Farmington Hills, the girls were taken to a doctor because “their tummies hurt.”

“While at the doctor’s office, a procedure ‘to get the germs out,’ ” was performed on the first girl, according to the criminal complaint. The girl was shown a photo of Nagarwala and said she was the doctor who performed the procedure, according to the FBI.

The girl told the FBI that Nagarwala “pinched” her on the “place (where) she goes pee,’ ” the government alleges.

“(The girl) said that she was told not to talk about the procedure,” FBI Special Agent Kevin Swanson wrote in the complaint.

A subsequent medical examination showed that the girl’s genitals did not appear normal and a section had been altered or removed, according to the court filing.

“Finally, the doctor observed some scar tissue and small healing lacerations,” the agent wrote.

‘She screamed’

The second girl said she underwent a procedure and identified Nagarwala as the doctor she visited in Detroit, according to the complaint.

“She said that she ‘got a shot,’ and that it hurt really badly and she screamed,” the FBI agent wrote. “Her parents told her that the procedure is a secret and that she is not supposed to talk about it.

“(The girl) said that after the procedure, she could barely walk, and that she felt pain all the way down to her ankle,” the agent continued.

A subsequent medical exam showed the girl’s genitalia had a small incision and a small tear.

On Monday, Minnesota Child Protective Services personnel and a federal agent interviewed the second girl’s parents. They confirmed the trip to Detroit, saying they took the girl to see Nagarwala for a “cleansing” of extra skin, according to the court filing.

Agents have identified other children who may have been victimized by the doctor between 2005 and 2007, including children in Michigan, according to the FBI agent.

“The allegations against the defendant in this investigation are made even more deplorable, given the defendant’s position as a trusted medical professional in the community,” Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Steve Francis said in a statement. “My sincere hope is that these charges will give support to those who have allegedly suffered both physically and emotionally.”

Unprecedented case?

Federal officials said the case appears to be the first of its kind nationwide. Though a few cases in other jurisdictions involved plotting about performing female genital mutilation, it does not appear anyone was charged with allegedly carrying out a circumcision.

Last year, the FBI tried to raise awareness about the crime, saying an estimated 513,000 women and girls nationwide — most of whom live in metropolitan areas — were at risk of undergoing a procedure that has been a federal crime since 1996.

During a voluntary interview with investigators, Nagarwala denied performing female genital mutilation on minor children and said she was not involved in any such procedure, according to the complaint.

“The allegations detailed in today’s criminal complaint are disturbing, David Gelios, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Detroit office said in a statement. “The FBI, along with its law enforcement partners, are committed to doing whatever necessary to bring an end to this barbaric practice and to ensure no additional children fall victim to this procedure.”

The FBI is asking anyone with information about the doctor and female genital mutilation to call 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5984).

Mutilation of the genitals of infants, male and female. is so barbaric that anybody who is involved should be arrested, jailed and sterilized. They should be isolated from ever influencing a young person in any way.

Yeah, I know that sounds pretty harsh, but I just can't wrap my head around the fact that anybody, EVER, thinks this is okay. And that includes Jews and Muslims who circumcise their little boys. This must be STOPPED. It's horrific. And a whole lot of other things should be stopped.

Yeah, I don't see that happening, but I can express my outrage over the torture of innocent babies that passes on psychological deformities to another generation.

I agree, it is such a barbaric practice and one that should be stopped. End of.

I remember seeing a documentary on RT documentaries about FGM (a while ago) and I think it was in a village in Africa where it was the 'norm'. However, one girl was not circumcised and so she was seen as an anomaly by all the other people in the village. I remember noting one villager mentioning that those girls that were circumcised seemed depressed / dead whereas the girl who wasn't seemed full of life. Well I'm not surprised given a part of them has been chopped off! :scared: :O

As I said on FB recently, why does everyone get so worked up about female genital mutilation, and yet it's totally acceptable (and even medically recommended) to have little boys circumcised?

Don't make no sense to me!

No kidding Scottie. It just blows me away that anyone in this day and age would still think that genital mutilation of little boys is ok. I even encountered one guy in the small Saskatchewan city I live in who was incensed that I would even question this barbaric practice.

(WJBK) - A second doctor has been arrested in connection with a female genital mutilation investigation in Detroit.

2nd doctor arrested, wife charged in connection with female genital mutilation investigation
http://www.fox2detroit.com/news/local-news/249924325-story

Fakhruddin Attar, 53, and his wife, Farida Attar, 50, of Livonia, were both arrested and have been charged with conspiring to perform female genital mutilations on minor girls out of Dr. Attar's medical clinic in Livonia.

Both husband and wife were arrested Friday morning and are due in court later this afternoon.

Authorities say Dr. Attar owned Burhani Medical Clinic in Livonia, which is where a Detroit emergency room doctor who was arrested last week is accused of performing FGM on minor girls. Authorities say Dr. Attar's wife is employed at Burhani Medical Clinic as an office manager. Authorities believe the husband and wife arranged and assisted in the FGM procedures performed by the Detroit doctor, Dr. Jumana Nagarwala.

Dr. Attar's attorney, Mary Chartie, said that they weren't surprised they were arrested.

"These are individuals who have no criminal history. They are upstanding members of the medical community and now they are being arrested and it's frightening for them," :violin: Chartie said. "He certainly wasn't shocked by the allegations because he knows the same allegation was made against [his colleague]."

Authorities say Dr. Nagarwala never worked at Burhani Medical Clinic, therefore the office has no record of her billing for medical procedures there. Nargawala was arrested in Detroit on April 12. Authorities claim that the Attars allowed Nagarwala to perform the operations when the office was closed.

The FGM investigation at Burhani Medical Clinic has identified two young girls from Minnesota who have been operated on by Dr. Nagarwala. Other minor girls in Michigan may have undergone procedures as well.

Investigators say they have video evidence of Dr. Nagarwala meeting patients at Dr. Attar's Livonia clinic. They also tapped Nagarwala's phone and say they recorded a conversation in which attar's wife is allegedly heard telling patients not to talk to police and deny any procedure was done.

The Attars are both in federal custody and will have a bond hearing next week.

Members of a particular religious and cultural community are known to practice FGM on young girls as part of their beliefs and cultural practice to suppress sexuality. Dr. Nagarwala's defense team has denied the accusations against her and calls it 'religious removal.'

Livonia doctor's defense denies female genital mutilation; calls it religious removal - The defense argued, claiming no female genital mutilation took place, instead, a religious removal of a mucus membrane from the genitals which was wrapped up and given to the parents to bury -- a practice they say is performed by a small sect of Indian-based Islam called Dawoodi Bohra.

The cruel practices of genital mutilation and circumcision are part of the traditions of many cultures in Africa. In South Africa, for instance, during the traditional yearly "initiation school" season (see image), there are dozens of deaths when the young boys are circumcised in the bush under very unhygienic circumstances; the boys are often also deprived of food and water and die or end up in hospital. There is always a public outcry when these deaths occur and the President states that these deaths are "unnecessary", but he does not put a final stop to these practices traumatising not only the "initiates" but the whole country.

Deadly initiation: Govt lacks numbers on circumcision deaths

Faranaaz Parker 09 Jun 2013

The state has been unified in its calls for better monitoring and interventions to improve the outcomes of traditional circumcision. But how can the state intervene in a process on which it does not even have basic data? When the Mail & Guardian canvassed officials for information on the numbers of deaths and mutilations caused by botched circumcisions each year, reporters were sent from pillar to post in search of statistics.

There was national outrage in May when news emerged that 27 boys died during initiation in Mpumalanga province. President Jacob Zuma echoed the national outrage at the unnecessary loss of lives, saying: "It cannot be acceptable that every time young men reach this crucial time in their development, their lives are culled in the most painful of ways in the care of circumcision schools."

By the time a snap debate on the issue was called in Parliament, the death toll approached 40. MPs defended cultural practices, called for the arrest of those responsible for the deaths, a clampdown on fly-by-night initiation schools and "culturepreneurs", and demanded better monitoring of the initiation process to ensure safe health practices.

But with poor record keeping at the outset, it's unclear whether the state has any sort of plan to prevent the death and mutilation of the boys who would be men.

Reliable statistics
Initiation may be a highly valued cultural practice but there are no indications that government tracks the issue of deaths and mutilations caused during it.

There do not appear to be any reliable national statistics on the number of boys who undergo initiation each year, nor the number who die or are mutilated as a result of traditional circumcision.

According to Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi, the main medical issues that can cause death in initiates are massive bleeding leading to hypovolemic shock, infection, septicaemic shock, dehydration from being denied drinking water, hypothermia from exposure to extreme weather, and low blood sugar from extreme food restriction. Poor circumcision technique can lead to genital amputation. In some cases, the cause of death is assault.

Of the three provinces in which initiation is most commonly practiced, the M&G was only able to get statistics from one, the Eastern Cape.

In that province, the death toll for the five years from 2008 to 2012 was 323. During that time, a further 126 boys suffered genital amputations.

An effective intervention strategy cannot be put into place unless government has an indication of the state of play in each province where initiation is practiced.

Referred questions
Initiation is most commonly practiced in the Eastern Cape, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

The Limpopo and Mpumalanga health departments could not provide numbers and referred further questions to traditional leaders and the department of traditional affairs.

Sizwe Kupelo, a spokesperson for the Eastern Cape health department, said that keeping these statistics was possible because the department works together with Eastern Cape House of Traditional leaders, local government and various community structures.

The Eastern Cape has a head start on other provinces – in 2001 it became the first province to introduce legislation regulating traditional circumcision in an attempt to curb deaths and genital mutilation taking place in the bush.

In contrast, Mpumalanga has yet to finalise its initiation Bill.

Why statistics are important
Having statistics on this issue is a key part of improving the health outcomes of traditional circumcision.

"It helps a lot because it gives us indications of where intervention and more resources are needed the most per season," said Kupelo.

But even if provincial health departments tracked this issue, it's unclear whether there would be sufficient data to get a clear picture of the toll that botched circumcisions have in South Africa.

Although it seems to be the exception, there have been cases involving bogus initiation schools in which children are routinely beaten and assaulted, some to the extent that they died. Some reported being denied food and water.

The South African Human Rights Commission said in February it would investigate a case in the Northern Cape in which one person died at an illegal initiation school.

Official records cannot shed light on the deaths that occur at illegal initiation schools or at those where the tradition is to manage complications and deaths "in the bush".

Democratic Alliance spokesperson on traditional affairs George Boinamo pointed out that not all boys who are injured report to hospitals for treatment and that not all boys who die following traditional circumcision find their way to mortuaries.

"If an initiate dies at initiation schools, the culture is you don't bring the body home. The body is buried at the initiation school, in the bush wherever they are in the mountain. The death is not reported before the burial," he said.

The tradition of burials
Last week Boinamo visited Zelisha Moremi, whose son Tshepo died at an initiation school. Moremi told Boinamo that after her son was taken to a mortuary, a group of men came from the initiation school and demanded that his body be returned.

"They said they have to bury him, and not the family. It's the tradition, according to [them]," said Boinamo.

Boinamo said he was not aware of any laws compelling traditional leaders to report these numbers to the state.

The Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa referred questions on the number of boys who undergo initiation nationally and those injured in the process to the co-operative governance and traditional affairs department.

The department's Charles Nwaila said that there was no compiled database of the number of boys who undergo initiation each year or of those who are injured or die each year. This information had to be sought from the provincial departments.

While Nwaila received such figures from the Eastern Cape and Limpopo, he had not from Mpumalanga.

"They keep it as a secret," he said.

A serious matter
If government is to take this matter seriously, a first step should be to compel provinces to share their information with national government.

Problems with data collection are also evident when it comes to law enforcement.

Despite calls for the law to take its course, it's unclear whether there are any legal repercussions when it comes to the malpractice and negligence that leads to the death and mutilation of an unknown number of boys each year.

The nature of data collection at both the National Prosecuting Authority and the South African Police Service means that there is no way to tell whether any of the cases prosecuted – be they for murder, assault or negligence – were related to botched circumcisions.

Without these statistics there can be no way to tell whether anyone has ever been brought to account for these deaths or whether they have been allowed to continue with unsafe circumcision practices away from prying eyes.

Last month, the Public Service Accountability Monitor slammed government and traditional leaders for failing to protect initiates.

No prosecutions
Jay Cruus, director of the organisation, said he was unaware of any cases in which those responsible for the deaths or mutilations of initiations had been prosecuted under the law.

"I've never heard of one [case], despite the high death rates and the mutilations. I haven't encountered a case where the police have taken that course of action. I haven't even heard of a medical negligence suit against these initiation schools, be they authorised or rogue," he said.

Cruus said that the starting point for accountability should be legislation.

"It needs to be law that these kinds of figures need to be submitted – the number of people who've gone through the process, the number of people who had complaints, and so forth," he said.

Dr Dan Ncayiyana, editor emeritus of the South African Medical Journal, also blamed a lack of accountability for the continuing deaths and mutilations.

"At the core of this matter is the lack of accountability. It just seems no one is accountable. It seems everyone is passing the buck. National government says provincial government must deal with it, provincial government says traditional leaders must deal with it, and so forth," he explained.

Ncayiyana said he asked an MP to ask a question in Parliament on the number of people apprehended, prosecuted and convicted for their involvement in these kinds of deaths.

"She did put the question [to the minister] but to my knowledge it was never answered," said Ncayiyana.

"Nobody is being held to account, and that's the problem."

And that isn't even the worst abuse of young children in the country.

Witchcraft and witchdoctors are part of daily life in South Africa. For traditional medicine, body parts of human beings are needed and harvested from victims alive or dead - it is the belief that medicine based on human flesh as the main ingredient increases succes in various spheres of life. People pay a traditional healer for the capture of the victim (often a young child); it is believed that a live victim while being harvested for body parts makes the medicine more potent, especially if the victim screams. Preferred body parts include soft tissue like the eyelids, lips, scrota, labia, but whole limbs can also be needed, depending on the specific aim of the medicine. Body parts are also sold to traditional healers to be used in medicine.

And cannibalism is ongoing. In South Africa at present, there are two cases in the news. In one, the uncle of a young boy (four years old) skinned him, ate him and drank his blood. The uncle was found in his blood-drenched hut with the remains of the boy, the skinned body cut up in pieces, the skull eaten clean, and the liver and a hand in a dish. In the second case, a five-year-old boy's penis was cut off and eaten; another boy of 12 escaped and raised the alarm. The five-year-old was rushed to hospital. I saw this on Jim Stone alternative news site (don't know how credible site is) I think there are more who engage in this barbaric practice than what he mentions here, but I guess there could be truth to it considering all the subterfuge going on in all directions and especially with all the fanning of the flames for war with Iran. I dunno.

WAR PROPAGANDA
Hoax report about Shia Muslim female genital mutilation making the rounds!
The Gateway Pundit did a report about a Shia Muslim doctor doing female genital mutilations in Detroit. However, the report in the Detroit news, which the Gateway Pundit claims to have quoted says nothing about the doctor being a Shia Muslim, and she's obviously not Persian.

I do not believe this report.

Muslims do not do female genital mutilation.

Who does?

1. Some of the Hindu sects in India.
2. A few bush tribes in sub saharan Africa.

It is against Islam to do this. However, males are required to be circumcized.

Ok, I see it is a SHIA Muslim that supposedly did this. Like, YOU KNOW, IRAN.

Shia Muslims are completely and totally civilized. This story is a flat impossibility.

THIS IS WAR PROPAGANDA. Who got fingered for destruction today? IRAN.

So to go to war with Iran, you have to HATE SHIA MUSLIMS, yep, the setup!

See the Detroit News version

And the Gateway Pundit version

Aah yes, the Gateway Pundit consulted Pamela Geller's Jihad watch for this. And has perfectly working ads, IN SPADES. Plus is Facebook approved, with comments served from there. Plus has nicely working Disqus. Yep. that explains this BS they spewed! This pulled the pundit from my list PERMANENTLY.

Does FGM have anything to do with Islam? True, this largely happens in African countries but these countries actually happen to be Muslim majority ones, let me provide a bit of data.

The below chart shows the percentage of women and girls aged 15-49 with FGM by country:

Screen_Shot_2017-04-22_at_18.27.17.png

Source: http://www.equalitynow.org/sites/default/files/FGM%20EN%20City%20Estimates.pdf (see page 7)

As for FGM victims living in the UK for example, the NHS website lists the below countries as being the top locations where victims of FGM living in the UK came from. I added percentage of muslim population in these countries taken from here:

Egypt - 90%
Eritrea - 36-6 - 50%
Ethiopia - 34%
Gambia - 95.3%
Guinea - 84.2%
Indonesia - 87.2%
Ivory Coast - 40%
Kenya - 10%
Liberia - 12.8%
Malaysia - 61.4%
Mali - 95%
Nigeria - 41 - 50%
Sierra Leone - 71.5%
Somalia - 98.9%
Sudan - 97%
Yemen - 99%

The above countries are listed in the alphabetical order, not by FGM occurrence. The author of the Jim Stone "report" is right about "bush tribes in sub saharan Africa", except that the percentage of Muslim populations in these countries is pretty large. Well, unless he wanted to say that it's the non-Muslim minorities from these countries that perform FGM.

More info can be found on the UK government website:

Yes, these are countries where Sunni and not Shia Islam is the majority. But saying that it doesn't happen outside Africa is not exactly a full picture.

Though FGM predates islam it's been part of the islamic mindscape ever since it was founded. Browse the sunnah, the sayings and deeds of the prophet, 'the best of mankind'.

https://sunnah.com/urn/2212010

An old woman from Kufa, the grandmother of 'Ali ibn Ghurab, reported that Umm al-Muhajir said, "I was captured with some girls from Byzantium. 'Uthman offered us Islam, but only myself and one other girl accepted Islam. 'Uthman said, 'Go and circumcise them and purify them.'"

In the link below, one of the prophet's wives ( his child bride no less) is more troubled by the fact that the clown hired to entertain her nieces post mutilation is a little over the top rather than the mutilation itself.

https://sunnah.com/urn/2212030

Umm 'Alqama related that when the daughters of 'A'isha's brother were circumcised, 'A'isha was asked, "Shall we call someone to amuse them?" "Yes," she replied. 'Adi was sent for and he came to them. 'A'isha passed by the room and saw him singing and shaking his head in rapture - and he had a large head of hair. 'Uff!' she exclaimed, 'A shaytan! Get him out! Get him out!

The Sunnah makes for a very interesting read, apparently much of Sharia law is based on it.

Take care, Brewer

Ant22, thank you for great info about this subject.

Recently Sott.net published excellent article about genital mutilation - Ayaan Hirsi Ali: Female genital mutilation and what we're really talking about beneath the weasel words 'genital cutting' , now you can read it also on Croatian here

Article wrote an African woman who was subjected to FGM and now living in the West. She is also founder of AHA Foundation - _http://www.theahafoundation.org/ which goal is to be resource of help women and girls who are truly bridging the gap between worlds and cultures.

I didn't know that there is different types of 'cutting' and even it is hard to read about it, she said something great why we should:
No doubt setting out these practices in detail is disturbing but it is crucial that we speak openly about what is taking place rather than shroud it in euphemism so as not to cause offence.

There are five types of female genital mutilation performed on girls from as young as five years of age. Four of them are unarguably mutilation, and the other is designed to symbolize mutilation. I will start with the mildest.

1. The 'nick': The girl is held down, her legs pushed apart and a needle is used to prick her clitoris. The incision is similar to a finger prick test for diabetes, blood comes out and the girl is considered 'cleansed'. Often there is a ritual with a little party to celebrate the procedure.

2. 'Female circumcision': The second method in terms of severity is often compared to male circumcision. The hood of the clitoris is cut off, in some cases the tip of the clitoris is cut off, known as clitoridectomy. In this form, an otherwise normally functioning body part is sliced off and thrown out. Disfiguring a little girl's genitals in this way cannot rationally be considered anything but mutilation.

3. Intermediate infibulation: In the third form of FGM, as much of the clitoris as possible is dug out and removed. The inner labia are cut off and the outer labia are sewn together leaving two small holes for urination and menstruation. In places where this is done without 'medical intervention' girls have been known to bleed to death. After infibulation is done it is imperceptible what has taken place when the girl stands up with her legs together, but in the obstetrician's position it is clearly visible that parts of her genitals have been removed and sewn up.

4. Total infibulation: In the fourth type of FGM the clitoris and inner labia are cut off and the outer labia are cut or scraped off too, then sewn up. When the girl stands, even with her legs closed, her genitals clearly look different.

5. Vaginal fusing: In the fifth type of FGM, which is rarely discussed, all of the fourth type is done and then the inner walls of the vagina are scratched to cause bleeding and the sewing is again done. The girl's feet are tied together in an effort to fuse the two sides of the vagina with scar tissue to close it up. Children can die undergoing this.

On the end she completely reveals this insanity behind this rituals:
Seeing as they are so reluctant to critique cultural practices, other than those of 'powerful, white men,' I will do it for them. The 'nick' symbolizes and communicates to little girls that their natural state is unclean and that pain must be inflicted on their genitals to make them acceptable to their communities.

FGM is the symptom of harmful cultural beliefs that girls and women must be sexually pure, modest and that their bodies exist to breed. Whether it's justified by being a Muslim, Egyptian, Indian, Jewish, black, a woman or any other category venerated in the identity politics pantheon, these beliefs are not compatible with liberal societies that profess to ensure the human rights of their citizens.

It is and inhuman practice with Innocent babies who are discovering the life. Some months ago i was really upset with a person who gave the authorization some years ago to the "elders" to do this into his doughier in his country.I explained to him how dramatic secondary effects in many levels the baby will have for ever.He understood my view, but he say how impossible is to fight against the cultural practice :(
I do not have words

(...) On the end she completely reveals this insanity behind this rituals:

Thank you for sharing the article Dakota. I find this practice so deeply disturbing and disgusting that if given half a chance I would happily pay them back on "an eye for an eye basis" by chopping their bits off with a rusty razor.

To paraphrase the bolded part above, this would hopefully send a clear message that brainless morons should not breed at all. :curse:

As far as I'm concerned, same thing goes for male circumcision.

I'm sorry for my emotional attitude. I find it really hard to apply intellectual thinking to situations that take place precisely due to someone's failure to use their own brain.

Edit: grammar

Actually, I found very refreshing when I see that someone just express what he feels instead to try to intellectualize everything.

Sweden prides itself as a recognized champion of human rights. However, its recently imported cultural values from the developing world may eventually shatter Sweden's shining image. Tens of thousands of women have been found to be suffering from genital mutilation, despite the fact that this immensely painful procedure is illegal.

'Up to 150,000' Women Suffering From Genital Mutilation in Feminist Sweden
https://sputniknews.com/art_living/201706141054625357-sweden-female-genital-mutilation/

The number of Swedish women who have undergone genital mutilation has been estimated to be at least several times higher than previously expected, a new survey has found.

In 2015, the National Board of Health estimated that there were approximately 38,000 women who have been victimized by female genital mutilation (FGM) in the Nordic country, which had for decades ranked at the top of various equality ratings.

The most recent survey, however, placed Sweden among the countries with the highest proportion of FGM sufferers, with a staggeringly morbid estimation of 150,000 in a nation of 10 million, Swedish Radio reported.

Since genital mutilation is a very private and shame-laden, it remains largely unreported, with the actual number of victims potentially being still higher.

What makes matters worse, genital mutilation is being carried out among girls of immigrant descent in families that have been settled in Sweden for a long time. Despite the fact that FGM is strictly prohibited by Swedish law, tradition and religious prescriptions may sometimes overcome legal ramifications. In immigrant circles, girls are known to have been taken to their respective home countries to have this procedure performed.

The unexpectedly large and obviously still-growing number of genitally-mutilated women in Sweden places new demands on Swedish healthcare and school system, Swedish national broadcaster SVT wrote.

"Women who come to our reception have big problems. We remove the damaged parts in the lower abdomen area. But there are many more affected women in our society today, women we have to discover and offer help," Bita Eshragi, a physician from Amelmottagningen, Sweden's only clinic for FGM victims, told SVT.

Female genital mutilation, which is also known as female genital cutting and female circumcision, is the ritual cutting or removal of some or all of the external female genitalia. The practice is found in parts of Africa, Asia and the Middle East and is mostly carried out for religious or spiritual reasons.

According to a 2016 estimation by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), around 200 million women living today have undergone this procedure.

Depending on the country, FGM is carried out at various ages ranging from days after birth to puberty. The practice is rooted in ideals about women's chastity and purity, and failing to comply may result in social exclusion.

The exact amount of surgery (mostly carried out in field conditions) varies from country to country, yet typically includes the removal of both inner and outer labia and parts of the clitoris. Adverse health effects may include recurrent infections, difficulty urinating, chronic pain, infertility and complications during childbirth — with no known benefits whatsoever.
