Ferdo is on his way

Our goldfish Ferdo passed away last night. I've noticed yesterday morning that he (I'm referring in masculine because of his name) wasn't behaving as usual. He had trouble breathing so I changed his water adding in some colloidal silver as I was often doing when he looked sick or in trouble and usually things would improve in few hours. This time I was able to notice discoloration on his gills, which I didn't ever noticed so far, so I've even put a few grains of sea salt in the water assuming he got some parasitic or bacterial infection. Unfortunately with no success. Thing is that, although it was just a fish, whole family was very found of him. It was brought as present for our first marriage anniversary back in 2000. and (I just can't relate to him as it) stayed with us for almost whole 15 years! Overlooking our kitchen and dining table from his glass bowl he had always gained attention from guests and relatives in visit, radiant in colour and with big fancy tail fin he had looked at his sourounding with great interest, especially when someone was around. His last moments were tough while he was fighting to breathe and it was hard to see him suffer and getting weaker by the hour. I hope that he did his transition well. On the other hand I hope that he has found a good environment in our family to acquire new knowledge and thus making a new step in existence. If that's the case then I'm happy for him.

Anyway, we will miss him!

No, he (she) was not only fish, he (she) was a member of the family, I am truly sorry for your loss, he (she) may be now in a "strange" way of hanging out together with Sebastian, I'm sorry, 15 years are pretty common conducted year. :hug2:

He was with you for 15 years and was part of your family, and his passing is sad for you. I am so sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about your loss. 15 years is quite a long life for a fishy, so I'm glad he was able to spend it with a family that cared so much about him. :hug2:

Same here. That's quite a long time for a goldfish to live, so your efforts to help him may have been too little at the end of the life cycle. Sorry for your loss.

Thank you Regulattor, for sharing about the passing of a loved family member. I think the ability to appreciate and care about all life forms around us, no matter how small (? Dr. Suess?) is a precious lesson taught to us by our pets.

I had 3 goldfish for years, refugees rescued from a goldfish eating contest. They were beautiful and I loved them. I was forced to give them up to a fellow goldfish fancier years ago to make a cross-country move, but remember them fondly.

My condolences on your loss.

Thanks for this beautiful account about Ferdo, Regulattor. You must have been very attuned to him and that is a wonderful thing. It never, ever goes to waste. All the best to you and your family without Ferdo.

Thanks to share with us this beautiful story of Ferdo, I very beautiful fish, a being of water and light. I can understand you attachment with this friend that was movement and joy. Fishes teach us serenity and peace. I think so. They are also intelligent. I was working in a animal store, some years ago and I was selling little red fishes. Can you believe that when I was trying to take one fish to sell, some of them faked that they were dead? than when I finished to try to take one of them, the fish that was dead recovered life suddenly and started to move like a little red star in the aquarium.

I am very sorry for your loss. Surely he learn a lot being with you.

Fifteen years is a very long time so it is easy to understand how his passing would leave an empty spot in all of your hearts. May her rest in peace.

Our 2D friends become family, and I am sorry for your loss too. :hug2:

Thank you all for your support. It's very helpful to know that you can always count on support here! Thanx again!

My condolences on your loss, Regulattor. It feels like a part of your heart has been cut out. The light of that little Being shining for you and yours every day was food for your

soul. It doesn't matter if they've lived a full life or if they go suddenly due to accident/illness (I've experienced both). :hug2: from a pet owner!
