Finally some positive news out of Austrailia.

I came across this article while just bouncing around the internet, and so I brought it here. Its just nice to hear that someone out there is actually waking up to at least a sliver of the mind control we see around us. It is focused on removing the potential harm of TV from children's every day lives.

But then the article goes on to say:

"For every hour that children watch TV it increases the risk of being overweight and obesity," said the researcher.

Its not the TV making people obese!

You have to ponder why they need a study too, when the answer could be as simple as teaching parents how to say "no", to set healthy boundaries.

Instead they'll probably focus on the kids and in making the problem them. Subtly inducing the kids to further negate themselves and their own feelings, which is probably one reason why they want to dissociate in front of the TV to begin with. I wouldn't bet on that solving the obesity problem.

They ought to start with why kids feel the need to be in front of a TV so much and work from there, not start from just looking at alternatives I think.

I completely agree with everything you just said.

I am only expressing my elation that such a concept has even made it to main stream Aussie news. I know that the science and psychology behind it is BS, however it will still achieve a small victory in bringing some awareness to TV as a negative thing, and real life experience as a positive.
