Sorry to hear about these troubles, Pluto!
I know a number of people who have been searching for employment without much to show for it.
It's all fine and good to say, "Buck up! Try harder!" -But in a floundering US economy, the truth of the matter is that people are suffering economically, and it's only going to get worse.
That being said...
There is always a way.
Luckily, you have access to the knowledge involved in the Work. If you make your primary objective to become a useful part of the world, to serve the world, the world will recognize your value and accommodate you in a non-linear fashion. Be like a useful cell in the body. The body takes care of its own, and gives more energy to those cells which need more in order to give more.
I would recommend getting out into the world and participating in something you find interesting and fulfilling. Don't even worry about the cash side; just do what you can, where you can. I'm not even talking about official 'volunteer' work, (where you need to fill out forms and go through some official process, -though I'm not discounting that if it's what pulls you), but rather just find where you are needed most, where you can give where others cannot, and do whatever is in front of you. -And do it impeccably and happily! Think from a Service To Others standpoint, and things will start quite quickly to flow.
Ask this as your daily mantra: "How can I help those around me become the strongest, best, healthiest versions of themselves? I am available to help!"
It's hard in our STS world not to think about this tactically; "What will I get in return?" But putting forth a consistent effort to be as STO as you can, to think STO, slowly changes the shape of the mind. This IS the Work.
(Of course, you have to exercise discernment. Don't feed yourself to psychopaths. :) )
