Forum : slow loading, duplicate topics & replys, new posts acting strange

Recently when I click "new" next to a thread to see new posts, strange things occur such as it will start at a post that I've already read or there's supposed to be a new post by a member but when I check the thread it isn't there. I have no idea why that might be. Just thought I'd report it here.

By the way, out of curiosity, I checked the member's profile who is supposed to have posted something new and it's in their posts but not on the thread.

Just to give more info, one of the threads that had the new post missing was 'Psychopath wants to be "friends on Facebook' http://cassiopaea.org/forum/index.php/topic,26745.15.html

anart replies to Don Genaro's post, which was the missing new post, but again that post from Don Genaro is missing in the thread. But if you go into Don Genaro's profile and click "show posts" the post shows up.

Hey:

I just wanted to note here that I haven't experienced any slowness with the forum, but something strange did occur last night. My birthday post to Laura disappeared. I was sure I posted it - It should have been on page 30 or 31... and so I checked my own "latest posts" and it wasn't there. And I thought it would be really weird for a mod to erase the birthday message, so I thought it might be a glitch and worth mentioning here. I left another message on the thread for Laura quoted below.

Hey Laura!
This is really strange cause I left you a birthday message here last night and it seems to have disappeared! :O

I'm not sure why.... maybe it's a glitch.

Anyway I'll wish you another happy birthday here.

The same thing happened to me today. I was sure I posted. But later, when I returned to the thread, my post wasn't there - so I reposted.

I have had some problem for the last week or so with slow loading and being redirected to the home page instead of the thread I clicked to open. I just thought it was my computer - till seeing others had the same glitches.

added: I thought I lost another post, but see now that I posted the same thing in two separate threads on the FOTCM board. My computer is not the only thing a bit slow today!!

It could have something to do with cache of your browser. I have experienced if I post something with my iPad from the workplace, aft the post I go back to the unread topics and the browser showed me the old topics from last week or so. After I reload the page I have the new topics displayed. I wonder if this is only on iPad with safari browser?

The forum seems to be exhibiting a number of strange behaviors lately. I don't know if the techs are aware of all the issues mentioned in this thread yet or not, but I'm sure they'll be looking into and eventually fixing them.

Your Julian Barbour thread is now again in the "Outer Space and 'Inner Space' Sciences" board besides that strange "Roll over, Frank Miller..." thread with several different, unrelated articles. It seems that some of the duplicate posts somehow (possibly by a Mod) got merged into that one thread, because the last post (now #5) is by webglider entitled "Wonder Dog" and there's still duplicate posts of it in Our 2nd D Friends board. And above yours are two (duplicate posts by parallel "Irish holocaust") of the same post. So more strangeness....

Yep. There was a problem with the server - the techs are aware of it. Thanks for the heads up everyone.
