Frozen Shoulder?

I'm SO glad. And I KNOW that feeling! I figure that even if you aren't a professional, if you just get the tape on there in a close approximation, it still works!

Don't forget it, either.

I won't ...in fact I was just looking for the "Medical Taping Manual" in hard copy.. jic
Is that the original title? I getting a lot of hits on foreign sites... which makes sense. Anything that works and doesn't cost a fortune isn't going to be found on an AMA site :curse:

The official site is here:
http://www.medicaltaping.com/

With their rather pricey products here:
http://www.medicaltaping.com/Products-curetape-crosstape-kinesiotape/

But there seems to be a fairly inexpensive book about it on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Acupressure-Taping-Practice-Acutaping-Injuries/dp/1594771480/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1273076489&sr=1-2

For 11 bux, maybe it's a good buy?

Also, don't get too ambitious and try to do too much. It needs time to heal and the tape is allowing it to do that.

I can vouch for this tape too. It worked wonders for me.

After being in a cast and brace for a few months last year after recovering from a quad tendon rupture, it gave me great support on the leg where the muscle had wasted. At first I thought the physio just wanted to use it because he had recently been on a course learning how to apply it, but it really did work wonders.

Then because I was using crutches I developed Tennis Elbow, and it helped with that enormously too.

Being a big lad, and far from dainty, the physio amused himself by choosing a particularly fetching shade of pink, even though it came in more subtle colours. With showering it lasted about 3 days, and started to look "tatty" before it became ineffective.

Great stuff!

Hi Guardian, Alphonse,

I'm so happy that the tape relieved your burdens :flowers:

Still cheaper then what conventional medical treatments by far, so I'm going with the big book. I can buy their whole library for the cost of one MRI. :)

Yeah, I already got the "Pain is your body's way of saying "Stop!" lecture in meatspace. I promise I will only flip guys around with my good side

Thanks Psyche! Is it ok to tape more than one thing at a time? Like say if someone had a bulging disk too?

sorry to but in - but I had my leg and my elbow taped up at the same time -
If I had anything else done I would have looked like a Mummy!

Having been one Psyche's guinea pigs (and one of the very rare survivors ;)), taping several areas is ok.

I got taped for frozen shoulder + neck + upper back at the same time.

And it made wonders.

You can do several techniques if needed. There is almost every single muscle and most common conditions included in the book. The techniques illustrated respect the functionality of the muscles and 'distributes tension' to ease up the pain.

You're not butt'in in hon! I really appreciate hearing what other people have experienced :grad:

I got colored tape, so I kinda look like I'm wearing a cheap costume in a really bad Sci-fi B movie. "It came from Planet Tapus"

Thanks again Psyche! You're the first doctor to suggest something other than drugs and/or surgery @-}--

I called the B & N in Asheville and the lady said they have several books on taping techniques... so I'm going to go look at them. I might still order on-line, but I like being able to actually look at a book first.

Odd coincidence - I found this thread about two days after I developed what must have been "frozen shoulder" - I suddenly began waking up at night with pain in my right shoulder that wouldn't go away with ibuprofen or Tylenol, and it happened only at night. So, in desperation, I ordered the tape and the book from Amazon, and my skeptical husband taped me up. I know he was hoping this would work, since I was waking him up at night, too.

Well, it worked. Really well. I've been wearing the tape about two weeks now, but the pain went away after about a day. It just seemed odd that the problem and the solution showed up in my life at nearly the same time.

Anyway, I want to thank Laura and Psyche for making this information available. I don't know where else I would have ever found out about this - I doubt that any doctor I would go to would have heard of it.

It's also a lesson to me in how valuable networking can be - information you provide has more influence than you might imagine!
