Good reason to continue struggle?

Question for the Cassiopaeans:

- Please name is a good reason to continue personal struggle in current world situation?

I looked through my results made during couple of past years. While results were produced i concluded that i have lost will or personal goal to fight for. Encountered problems in personalizing values in:
- Fight for a better future, better world
- fight for the opportunity of spiritual advancement of humankind
- fight for this sector so it's not destroyed

Searched for an ideal to place before me as a picture, during fights, to maintain hope. Having no children or a spouse there are no family-related results.

Thinking about a good personal goal, here is what i found:

Last week, walking home, late in the darkening forest and got sight of Lampyris noctiluca. Their rhythm of producing light, it's color and strength made me stand motionless in awe beside the undergrowth. They were the exact embodiment of my struggle for light in the spiritual darkness. There they were in thick darkness, possessing the ability to produce strong light.

Answer:

- If i can produce as much light in this darkness as fireflies are able, in proportion to their bodies, i have found my very personal, individualized goal, picture-ideal to continue struggle in current world situation.

A good answer; I would like one of these, these... "high strangeness days" (I just can't remember the last one I had ;-)

Forge, I admire your answer to your own question. The only antidote to hopelessness in the face of the Situation is the personal aspiration to BE the Light.

There is a great quote I'd like to share with you:

"Our true home is in the present moment. To live in the present moment is a miracle. The miracle is not to walk on water, the miracle is to walk on the green earth in the present moment. To appreciate the peace and beauty that are available NOW. Peace is all around us - in the world and in Nature - in our bodies and spirits. Once we learn to TOUCH PEACE, we will be healed and transformed. It's not a matter of faith; it is a matter of PRACTICE."

-Thich Nhat Hanh

Practice, patience and seeing objectively. Glad you could answer your own question. When I feel hopeless, I question my objectivity. ...and I get a chance to do that often.

I moved this thread to the What's on your Mind section since it is not actually a question for the C's. If you were to ask the C's, "Please name is a good reason to continue personal struggle in current world situation?" - they would likely reply, "open" or "no dice" or something along those lines.

It's up to each individual person to choose what they do and do not do in this lifetime, to my understanding at least.

Hi Forge, the three things you list as your goals:

- Fight for a better future, better world
- fight for the opportunity of spiritual advancement of humankind
- fight for this sector so it's not destroyed

can all be worked towards if you take on the most difficult struggle: control over yourself and your 'machine'. The 'universe' can take care of the bigger problems itself, it just needs ordinary people to help out by making efforts in the little ways we can. They're 'little' compared to the work of the 'universe' but from our perspective can take a lifetime (or more than one). So my suggestion is to focus on the little things, learn to walk before you can run as they say. Thinking that you are responsible or have to try to change the world can quickly make us depressed!

Yes, life is a little hard, by this time you may find lot of purposes to keep living, just not fall believing isa good influence when it may be an influence A.

Sometimes life smile you, and sometimes just burns you, enjoy it. Because the real purpose at least for me, it's not to be happy I know I can't live happy and blind, when I am really happy I ask myself why because it is weird when nothing is struggling. But I have learned a lot, but paying the price... sometimes I ask myself why I can't even be myself in the forum or in whatever place, always hiding my real me, that is one example of my actual lesson I am having.

When you ask why to keep struggling, do you refer to why don't I commit suicide? or why I'm still believing in the material?

This is a great point and important to remember - thanks Perceval.

What perceval and anart said. And remember that fireflies produce light to attract and unite with their fellows and beloveds. :D

Thanks for posting your experience, Forge. What a beautiful and enlightening experience. It rubbed of on me and I feel strengthened by it. If we are open to it, nature reveals us many truths.

Great thread,
This is something i struggle with.
Finding meaning.
I feel like the more i un-condition myself, the more i find it harder to find meaning in anything i do - apart from the drive to un-condition myself. (and sometimes that itself isnt enough).

Maybe i should just try and enjoy myself before this journey ends!

I am completely with you on that! Especially in the perspective of all being lessons.

forge, believe it or not, I noticed a big difference in me when I took Nicoll's suggestion and prayed the Lord's Prayer, replacing "trespass" with "debts". The feeling of "being owed" is useless suffering of False personality, whereas the struggle against it is useful suffering.
