google birthday greetings?

The Living Force
As it has happened for the past many years, when I open SOTT on my computer on my birthday there is a Happy Birthday message.
I find it immensely cheering and thank the team for creating that notice (automatic program--I know, but still very nice!). I also enjoy getting an annual
BD card from my local Massey Ferguson dealer, even though my tractor has been paid off for years--a small-town rural pleasentry.

But, on my way to getting to SOTT this morning, Google pops up spelled in birthday cake and party images. I wanted to think it was just coincidence but I don't.
While it should not surprise me that Google has access to my data, I find it creepy and weird to sent birthday greetings from google--just another reminder of the
constant surveillance and intrusion into our privacy. I assume others of you have experienced this? Just wondering.

The same thing happened to my daughter, pictures of a birthday cake with candles and the message "Happy Birthday ....."

I suppose if you were logged into Google that would make sense. But even if not, there might be a cookie that remembers your birthday. I don't use google too much except for image lookup, so I've never noticed it on my birthday. Despite all that, Happy Birthday shelly!

Hi shellycheval and happy birthday to you, :hug2:

The obvious thing to do would've been to google for birthday greetings from google I suppose. So I did just that.

It appears, this birthday service has been around since Google itself celebrated its twelfth birthday in 2010.

That's what I would assume... Either way, Happy Birthday ! :)

Thanks for the BD greetings all.
And thanks Palinurus for the links--it just surprised me as I was catching the news before work.

Happy Birthday, shellycheval...
