Great North Run in 8 days - today pulled calf muscle - help needed urgently

Congratulations Vic, hope you didn't injure yourself too badly. Another success story for DMSO and taping :)

I ran it in 2 33 which I am very pleased about. Fully fit my target was 2 20 or less.

That's a pretty decent time Vic. Well done.

I was also wondering how your weekend running was like. Congratulations! You deserve well rest. :flowers:

Thanks everyone :)

Further proof of the power of DMSO and taping is in the fact that I am healing so quickly I feel that I could run 3 or 4 miles right now. I'm not going to though.

The next step in terms of DMSO is to look into ingesting it. I see Laura et al do so, and I'll follow those guidelines. I'm also resuming my transition into the Paleo/Ketogenic diet - it was impossible to maintain it whilst away from home.

Despite knowing the truth of human existence and our battle to take ourselves off of the reptilian menu, life becomes more exciting and full of opportunities as awareness grows.

Congratulations on your run Vic, especially considering the weather, it was atrocious by the time the first runners came in. I did go to your charity tent to see if you had managed to start (as a lot dropped out because of the conditions), but the Marshall didn't have that information, I hung around until almost 1pm then had to leave. Packing to do for a week in Jersey with my sisters...it's a little warmer than S/S.

Kudos to you for such a good time under all the conditions. :)

So sorry not to have met up with you, Lindenlea. By the time I hit the start line it must have been 11:00 (from the assembly point to the start line was a journey in itself) so didn't get to the finish line until gone 1:30. Then it started raining again - ice-cold rain - and I limped my slow way to the coach. If my wife hadn't been there to help me I might have gone down with exposure

Next year I'll be injury free (fingers crossed) so I'll be able to run faster and get there by 1pm so we can meet up. in the meantime I hope to keep in contact with you on the forum.

I hope you have a lovely time in Jersey and a safe trip back to Oz.

Take care

Vic
