Your topic subject is wrong, must be "Green Lantern".
When reading I was thinking on the movie, but the "Latern" presented me a "doubt" so I clicked the topic link to see that indeed it is.

Edit: minor correction.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one (in 2D as well) as I used to collect every comic books of Green Lantern. I'm just surprised that they're not using the story of Alan Scott, who was the first Green Lantern (first human, that is), but he wasn't the member of the Green Lantern Corps. Hal Jordan was. Scott was a member of Justice Society of America while Jordan became a founding member of Justice League of America at some point.

The official synopsis revealed:

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

What I find interesting that is there's an enemy called Parallax being in this film because the name "Parallax" is what Jordan became at a later point in his life (he became a host of some "alien parasite") and he became evil. Because of the destruction of his home town, as depicted in the comic books back in early 1990s, he went "mad" and went on a killing rampage - killing every single member of the Green Lantern Corps and the Guardians. "Parallax" basically means "alteration."

Here's the oath of the Green Lantern:

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power...Green Lantern's light!

I'm looking forward to seeing this as well. I have to admit I was never too into the Green Lantern, though I knew of him. Seems like a cool story/character and I'm a sucker for super hero movies so I will be seeing this, hopefully in 2D unless it's offered only in 3D where I live, like Thor was

Just saw this film with my stepdad today (in 2D).

It was okay and can be enjoyable but not as great as I would like and it's almost mindless. I felt that this film was too "rushed" and the plot wasn't carefully done. It, however, has that CGI thing going on with alot to see (which seems to be the good thing about this movie, if not only).

After having been a collector of Green Lantern comic book as a kid myself, this film is a disappointment because it doesn't really live up to the lore.

Fwiw, I saw it the other day (in 2D) and kinda liked it even though there wasn't much of a plot and the scenes were, IMO, not too well interconnected which would give the movie more depth. I rarely go out to the movie theater but there was some free time available so, what the heck, going to the movie theater didn't seem to be such a bad idea. The movie reminded me a little of star wars since there was some depth to the characters. Not much but enough to hold my attention. There were a few interesting esoteric concepts in there, such as when the Green Lantern could manifest a (pseudo) physical reality with the power of his will, which might even vaguely reflect the reality of the future, or maybe even in the far past, (but I don't know)!

I got to see this today in 3D and liked it very much. The CG was good though the 3D was unnecessary like usual. The characters were cool, and I liked Ryan Reynolds as the Lantern- he did a good job. It was humorous and entertaining, and I also enjoyed the esoteric ideas it presented.

So Thumbs up here

Saw it in 3D. I thought it was good, not great, but good. Major problem for me was the movie was out of focus. Told the Theater twice. Manager came in and said "looks good to me". I had a talk with him after the movie.

Made it distracting to me. Especially after watchign the trailers in HD.

The plot was a bit shallow. I thought all the characters were done well. I think now that he "knows who he is" the next movie could be much better.

The fellowship should make some special quantum especial rings, to discover that we were lanterns.

I don't know if I need to see this or, maybe three of life?

Movie was for me so, so but I liked the moto: "In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's light!". What I noticed in this and other hero movies is the acceptance of responsibility an individual has to take, leaving his wishful thinking and so called "normal life" so he can work for some higher purpose, which is in a way sacrifice and reminds me of work through sacrifice of your illusions and accepting the truth what you really are and accepting reality which can be hard but makes you more free in a way after some pain time. What is "funny" most of these other heroes only want a "normal" life but they can't get it until they realize they aren't "normal".

Wow, what a boring movie.

My idea of a hero is 'V', a guy who was took by the system, used, traumatised and abused. Not someone whos a fighter pilot, or (like Batman - Dark City) the owner of an arms company.
If i dont identify with the hero, i end up having no intrest in the film.

The 3D special effects were ok, a shame it cost £9.50 to get in though.

Edited - Removing one word.

Given that media is one of the primary control surfaces being used to manipulate our reality, and given that every bit of wide-appeal pop culture is without question, a piece of mind programming, I'm a lot less interested in whether this film was entertaining or well-acted or what have you.

I want to know what it's trying to do to my brain and to the brains of the people watching it.

Is it inspired by STS or STO forces?

Or is it just a bit of dream fluff trying to make me sleep more soundly?
