I am really worried about all this because here, in belgium, there are absolutely no opposition (that I know of) for these things.
We will all have the new ID card which contains a microchip.
A good percentage of the population has already one.
We also have a passport which contains a chip.
Under the cover of helping the administration to lessen the workload (With the new ID card you can get your official papers directly from your own computer), I really wonder what is the real purpose of all this.
They are already talking about one card which will also hold your Bank account and so forth.
No one will move against it here, I am sure of it.
Being the center of Europe, I suppose we have to set an example of the perfect new technocratic society (uhm, yeah right.).
I remember when I was a kid, there was this adult comic book (I don't remember the name but it was a French author I think) about a society where no one was free and everyone needed a special ID card to do anything in the society (buy things, order medicine...), whenever you displeased the governement, your ID card was erased then you where totally unable to buy food or else.
You were non-existant.
Would that be, in part, what's in the future for everyone ?
"Don't agree with our ideas ? well, we'll erase you from our databases".
I suppose it is also a great tool to gather every information about you, your tastes and your ideas; an electronic panopticon.
