Happy Birthday Laura and a deep thank you for all of your hard work and co-ordinating skills over these many years. I've been a regular reader and sometime contributor to sott and the forum since I found your project, waaaay back in the balmy summer of 2003. I've read so much, learned a little, understood even less, and benefitted greatly from being able to enjoy and engage with the discourse offered by an incredible array of intuitive, brilliant minds. That goes for everyone who ever came here, pretty much. Think about it; whatever the problems, issues, delusions, prejudices, woundings and forgettings, each one of us had found out enough about this world that something which wouldn't be satisfied with anything less than the whole truth crystallised, somewhere within.
Personally, I think that's awesome. Because the world is a pigsty of heathens and idiots, ignorant vain fools, tolerating the intolerable, and even agreeing with it, like some insane games console running a system update! Honestly, it's enough to make a soul fulminate to the brim.
The only really disappointing aspect I suppose is that, with an ever expanding knowledge and awareness of the way things are and how they operate, one can become less mindful and appreciative of the sheer effort required to reach these places, and can become embittered and frustrated with the leg and knuckle dragging of others who, for some reason, are still not "getting it", on a complex, deeper, but also more karmic and simple level. That and the continual ego sniping from people who are ubiquitous online, who due to some level of perverse self-ignorance, reduce any argument into a battle of perception rather than understanding, and who curiously always have to be seen as having been proven right, not out of any emotional empathy, but rather as an issue of pride. Scary intelligent people with poorly developed hearts won't make those karmic and simple understandings click into place...
I'm extremely thankful to you for reminding me that I have a soul. something which I curiously forgot sometime between the ages of 10 and 13. It's taken me 27 years of bumbling ineptitude, emotional insecurity, paranoid delusions, embedded, insidious, systematic belief patterns, to reach a level of genuine awareness of the bigger internal picture, bringing both the good and the bad within into full view, not just seeing yourself as you want to be seen. That is the basic beginning point for emotional and spiritual accountability. It's been well worth it, despite my ignorant flailings of poor self understanding. The lesson, if there is one? A spiritual lava lamp is a poor torch in the psychedelic abyss!!! How could I have possible mistaken Oz for heaven?
And yet, since the Laurel Canyon Adjustment (perception management of creative souls through suggestibility, big egos, narcissism and vanity), generations of bright, creative-minded souls have been successfully vectored this way, and the level of ponerogenesis which is prevalent in our so-called liberal society (WHAT ABOUT THE FREEDOM OF SELF-DEFENCE???? NEWSFLASH!!!!!THE FREEDOMS OF RAPISTS, MURDERERS AND PAEDOPHILES ARE SUBORDINATE TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF A SPIRITUALLY SANE SOCIETY, SO WE COLLECTIVELY SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!! YOU KNOW, THOSE WHO CAN, DO? DUE DILIGENCE AND SPRING CLEANING, KICK ASS AND ESTABLISH THE FACTS) has reached a saturation point, all achieved with a pot-pourrie (pun intended) of psychedelic drugs, complacent new age bullshit and cheap porn. Just lowering the standards of normalisation, as Bill Hicks was wont to say.
I wouldn't want to be treated like some of the poor wretched souls I've learned of. That's why I've never understood how a good soul can go right wing? And why is it tolerable to tolerate the intolerable when it doesn't affect you? The great thing about Julius Caesar is that just suffusing yourself with his character through the material inspires you to think basically but deeply about seemingly innocuous ideas. YOU REALISE HOW MUCH YOU REACT AND BELIEVE, AND HOW LITTLE YOU KNOW AND UNDERSTAND. That's thinking with a hammer, and thus seeing the devil in the details. And it's there where ponerogenesis affects everyone, no-one excluded. Equal opportunities, see?
That's his spiritual influence. Laura has it too. Sometimes people are just hard-ass in that way. It's called honouring reality, god knows you'd all want someone to to do it if some grave misfortune happened to you.
Anyhoos, Happy Birthday and keep on keeping on! Just to say I'm working on an art exhibition and compiling a collection of hard-hitting, uncompromising and innovative poetry. Thank you for inspiring me to put my energies where my passion lies. Life is fun.
