I do not know if any of this has been speculated upon, but after reading this article, a couple of things came to mind.

Can the approach of the wave in anyway produce unseen particles in experiments, or disturb the current understandings of the laws of physics?
This is just pure speculation of course. I bring this up because it seems the "unseen" dimensions and worlds beyond our understanding reaches into the study of new physics.
