Came across this clip today from The Today Show (I'll post the link below). The book "Heaven Is For Real" is about this little boy who was in the hospital fighting for his life and experienced Heaven and the afterlife.

Has anyone read this? What are your thoughts?

Amazing how if you put a religious spin on a story like this, there will be a book and a tour of morning television shows. If this kid had seen "aliens" or a UFO of some sort, I'm willing to bet the story would not have gotten past the family's car where they were discussing it.

That said, my read on this is that he had an encounter with the "ultraterrestrials" (so-called by John Keel), who have been shown to be able to manipulate our perceptions, emotions and memories. Who can say the purpose of the encounter, it may simply have been to reinforce the family's religious world-view and do the same for others who connect to this story. The boy clearly has a memory in his mind of what he experienced, but taking this as a proof of the afterlife according to the Protestant/Catholic worldview is what it is - fodder for morning television shows and for people who seek the bare minimum of "weirdness" to give credence to this belief system.

I'm dubious of any story like this that reinforces the emotional trigger connected to a belief system that was designed to control us and erode critical thinking.

Oops, someone has already covered this topic, sorry. Thanks for the input. I have been on a rollercoaster of learning. Your words have peaked my interest once again.

If the child did percieve something in a heavenly fashion, it could very well have been an illusion. I remember reading a near death experience. And when the man died he saw various images of jesus and other religious characters. Eventually, the man was told that people see in death, only those things that are according to their belief system. I maybe wrong but if this is true, then maybe he seen a heavenly environment because that is what he expected to see. But, I overall think it is another cointelpro operation.
