And that’s when I realised I had just learned something myself – something HUGE – concerning the control issues I mentioned in an earlier post. I now understand to what extent I need to let go of other people’s problems and let them figure them out for themselves. And if I don’t, I may be actively preventing them from learning from their own experience. It is a breach of free will, and a lack of trust and confidence, not to let them have that.

That passage just gave me one hell of a shiver ... By sharing that lesson, you helped me to get closer of it too.

Congratulations to both of you with this important breakthrough. :)

What stood out for me was this:

All the while I felt like I wasn’t “doing” anything to help, when in actual fact I was doing exactly what was needed in the situation: nothing.

This realization is one of the hardest to get and certainly for me was one of the toughest lessons I ever had to learn: just let it be and then something will happen of its own accord and you can take it from there in stead of forcing the issue. It gives real joy to see this happen with others and to recognize the importance of such an event.
