Hip Replacement

I had a PM asking about my surgery and happened to notice I have not posted in the open to the public area. Since somebody within the open forum cared (Thank You), I thought it may be considerate to post the following:

Hello Everyone, 'tis good to be home. :) :) :)
All went well and am on the road to recovery. I am quite sore but this is a healing pain whereas that bad hip was a degenerating pain. Both hurt real bad, but are emotionally different. Now I have hope, where the prior pain inflicted depression. I will tell at least one story about this experience with a lesson I have learned...

About three years ago my hip was hurting and I went in for an xray. The surgeon looks at it and says "WOW". I asked, "What do you mean WOW"? He then said I was a candidate for total hip replacement. I said, "I'm too young"! He said that he agrees and asked how long could I live with it? Well... I figure it's like a an old car with a part you know is failing but still works. You know it needs replacement but since it still works, you put off repairs. Finally there becomes a time when you know if the part is not replaced, the car will no longer function as needed, desired. You take it in for repairs. The mechanic begins work but has a very difficult time. That old part has corroded, rusted, and degenerated to the point where they have to beat the krap out of the car to remove the part. Then... the new part is difficult to put on because the car frame/body has become almost malformed in that again, they have to beat the krap out of the car to get the part installed...

Took the surgeon three(3) tries to get my hip rebuilt. I guess all the usual landmarks on the bones were "gone" and he had to put together, disassemble, and put back together again multiple times in order to "get it right". I found out that I was also born with a shallow hip. This actually worked out because he had extra hip bone he could "root out" so as to use a larger than normal ball & socket that will hopefully compensate for the future beating that hip is going to get because of having one(1) leg to begin with. So all in all, I am well, improving and grateful I had an excellent mechanic who prides himself on quality work.

So... when a doctor & yourself put off replacement, do not wait too long or that "part" may be a bear to replace...

:cool2: :cool2: :cool2:

Glad to hear you made it through the ordeal and are recovering! I thought of you during the Super Moon weekend and felt your spirit with all of us.
