HoM: thoughts about the relation between comets and the collective psyche

I finished reading HoM a couple of weeks ago. I found very many interesting things to ponder and also a feeling of information overload during the Greeks :).

One thing that got me thinking was the idea that the collective conscious or collective mind as it plays out on Earth in some way attracts comets. As if the bombardment of comets is the Universe’s way of purging civilizations where the way of life has diverged too far from what is best for humanity.

It seems to me that this idea can have even further implications. This is a thought to be developed and this is only the very nascent stage.

My thinking was more or less as follows: If what is going on in the world has the ability to attract comets in some way, is there also a similar effect taking place that moves in the opposite direction – can the coming of comets impact what is taking place on Earth (apart from the physical impact). In other words, is it a one-way effect or is there a two way correspondence?

My next thought was that if the maxim ”as above so below” and ”as without, so within” are to make sense, then there is indeed a correspondence between what happens in the Universe, what happens in the outside world and what happens in our own psyches (both individually and collectively), in our dna and in our energy fields.

Another way of saying this is that if the Universe is fractal in the sense that if you have the right knowledge, you can see that the whole is replicated in the part then it also makes sense that what happens on the cosmic level is reflected physically and psychologically on Earth and similarly what happens in the indivdual an collective psyches and dna on Earth will have an impact on cometary activity, as suggested in the book.

Further I recalled Laura writing (I believe that she was citing Clube & Napier, but I could be wrong) that prior to the coming of comets the civilizations were often in a morally divergent state and that this had been going on for a long time.

This is what got me thinking that what if it is also the fact that the comets themselves, as they approach our part of the Solar system have an impact on the people living on Earth. When they are very far away the impact on the individual and collective psyches and dna as well is negligible but as they draw closer this impact is being felt stronger and stronger and the consequences, as in the rise in the number of deviant psychological traits and psychopaths become more visible in society. Therefore, as the comets draw closer, more deviants/psychopaths are born and the deviant/psychopathic traits in everyone living becomes strengthened.

This made me wonder what could be the purpose or meaning of such a recurring cycle and as I see it, it could be somewhat of a collective consciousness exam. As the comets draw close, some of the darkest and worst traits of the predator mind come to the fore. I do not understand the mechanism. The counter measure is to know oneself and through that increase in consciousness. If enough people are sufficiently conscious, society will not succumb to the rule of the psychopaths, the comets will pass Earth and humanity as a whole will benefit. If not, humanity will be slammed back to square one as has been the case time and again.

Maybe this is developed further in the following books. I’m really looking forward to read them, as well. Is there any ETA for the next volume?

I've been wondering about some things very similar, many interesting things to ponder. I feel as if I'm a bit late into this whole parade haha, I'm still making my way through HoM but when it first arrived I had some questions about Saturn, as well as origins of astrology, so skipped to read specific parts about that first:
The idea of planets being comets, and the correspondence on a macro and micro level with DNA and energy fields individually and collectively.

Information overload - I can attest to that

Something about archetypes comes to mind here - the whole being replicated in the part. I'm going to have to send myself reading to finish HoM to further elaborate I think. With energy in constant transference & interaction, consciousness can change its function. Gurdjieff spoke of how that which is out there, "in the cosmos", impacts humanity as a whole down here. How humans are food for the moon.

The above reminds me of a dream I had.

Wow! What you've written here, is very close to what has come of some of my own wonderings: the collective consciousness exam, the traits of predator mind coming to the fore and the counter measure [as well as succumbing to rule of psychopaths]. In fact it seems as if symbolic warnings or signs are occuring around us...observing is of paramount assistance to knowledge, imo, but sometimes I personally find the line between doing such [scientific curiosity..? learning to see things objectively..?] and feeling/reading too much into situations/suffering are blurred hahaha.
Once again, I've got to send myself reading to finish HoM.

Thanks for this ! :D

The last part of this Tibetan Prayer I think could refer to the memory of a cometary event with associated plague:

"At the end of the five-hundred-year dark age,
[. . . ]
An evil time, when relatives quarrel,
When people dress sloppily in clothes of rags,
Eating bad, cheap food,
When there are family feuds and civil wars:
These provoke the black mamos' wrath.
These various women fill a thousand realms
Sending sickness upon man and beast.
The sky is thick with purple clouds of sickness.
They incite cosmic warfare.
They destroy by causing the age of weaponry.
Suddenly they stike men with fatal ulcerous sores.
Completely daring, they bring down hail and thunderbolts."

- Karma Chagma, "Pacifying the Turmoil of the Mamos". Translated by the Nalanda Translation Committee. Quoted inDakini's Warm Breath: The Feminine Principle in Tibetan Buddhism. by Judith Simmer-Brown. Boston: Shambhala, 2001, page 60.

Mamos were a kind of malicious feminine spirit, which if offended rather than placated could cause great destruction.

As to why? I think it is true evolution. The story of Noah is highly instructive (and all the thousands of other stories that one is based on or related to). Noah read the signs, acted circumspectly, was "righteous" because he was in tune with the cosmos, and he and his family survived a catastrophe. Those who did not choose to, or were so degraded genetically that they could not, read the signs, and hadn't the inner strength or character to act on them even if they did get a glimmer, all perished.

I have a section already written discussing this, but it is not coming up right away. Next volume will take care of certain matters, and get right into the juicy stuff, and then we'll come back to Information Theory and the so-called paranormal.

I just finished volume one today, so whenever you're ready. :cool2: No rush, I have plenty to read in the meantime.
