Homeopathy - any opinions?

Reading Tree message, I noticed point 2 : clean water. The importance of this factor is reinforced by homeopathy fundamentals. Indeed an active substance, even highly diluted in water, can have a strong impact.

So here are my questions. What can we consider as clean water ? How to get clean water ? Do you think that filtering water could be effective ? If yes do you have any experience of some reliable filtering device ? (a lot of different technologies are available : http://www.heartspring.net/water_filters_guide.html)

Thanks for your replies.

Here is how the C's have answered that question:

Q: (A) How can we be sure that our water is okay?
A: R.O. [reverse osmosis filtration]

When my boy came out of the hospital, and I'd become fed up with western medicine's answers, which I felt had put him there in the first place, my sufi friends recommended homeopathy. I had my son treated. In short order, he went from being out of breath even walking to running up hill...good stuff.

my mother was suffering from chronic bronchitis and some sort of histamine-allergy for about 10 years.
she had to take pharmaceuticals daily and still she often had uncontrollable cough-attacks.

i made an appointment with an alternative health practicioner for her who gave her a bunch of globules (globuli) - and her problems were gone!!
hiking, cycling - all these things were possible again!

the effects lasted about 1 year, her cough is coming back these days, but she already has a 'refresher-appointment'.
i'm fully confident that a new dose of globules will rid her of her bronchitis once more.

Hello to All,
I'm new to the forum but not new to the work of L&A and others. I was curious to see what was discussed about hoeopathy as my Daughter is a register Homeopath and my family and I have all benefitted from this. My personnel observation about homeopathy is one of responsibility. Allopathic medicine takes "YOU" out of the equation. Where as "Homeopathy" is generally persude by individuals that want to take responsibility for their health (personnal beliefs). I'm wondering if this approach or attitude contributes positively to the effectiveness of the treatment regardless of its physical properties when done in an informed manner? Of course poison is poison, and if one pursues alternative therapies in an allopathic head space then they might be in trouble with snake oil salesman, not to mention any names. In the end I would say homeopathy is a tool to better health along with the other health regimes that have been discussed here.

I have been using Homeopathy for some time now on both myself and the kids, I am always amazed at the results.
Some of what I find intriguing is this;

"Homeopathy is a science and an art of comparisons.

All we really know of any disease is the sum total of the manifestations, symptoms and tissue changes it has produced in patients. Symptoms are the language of disease.

No one has ever seen anemia, measles, scarlatina, or a headache stalking abroad as a separate entity.
Symptoms are the language in which the disturbing forces that we know as disease, speak to us."
For instance, if an otherwise healthy person takes a dose of sulfur it will create a particular set of symptoms, so when a patients presents with the very same symptoms, the "spirit" of sulfur would be given to alleviate the cause of those symptoms.

"The less matter, the more spirit, is it`s admitted maxim; it is the spirit that cureth and spirit is not to be measured in value by the amount of body that contains it..such is the reasoning of Homeopathy."

To get the correct "medicine" an entire series of seemingly lengthy and unrelated questions are used to arrive at the proper conclusion. Yet it seems to work very well.

I happened upon Homeopathy many years ago when my youngest child was plagued with a chronic sinus infection. He had been on and off antibiotics for most of his young life for this issue. Nothing helped until I met a young mother who used homeopathy for her children. I read up on it, found a homeopath and had my child treated. Twenty years later, and he's never had another sinus infection. Although after taking the initial remedy he did experience an 'aggravation', but another remedy was able to clear that up. As a result, I read all I could get my hands on regarding homeopathy. Used that information with great results while my kids were growing up. I still keep homeopathic remedies on hand.

The one thing I gained from learning about homeopathy was that when you work with remedies you give one and then observe the results. You have to be patient. Learning to observe and be patient was something that really helped me to deal with issues that came up with my kids, because I usually became very irritable and short-fused when dealing with a sick child. Just my thoughts.

I know homeopathy even before I born, my mother give me to birth at the homeophatic nursery wing. During her pregnancy she visited an homeophatic doctor so maybe that's why I do get much better with homeopathic. I used to have secondary effects with the allopathic medicines.

Last time I went to see an allophatic doctor was almost 20 years ago, since then I use homeophatic, I have a first-aid homephatic kit (24 basic remedies), since my aunt is an homeophatic doctor, I had been reading literature written by her also, one of her lastest one is quite handy because it is an indexed symptoms and it's corresponding remedy/s, as mentioned above it requires observation as well as patient, and it goes along with another factors such as food intake and psychology.

It helps that I can obtain those remedies easily, there are 2 homeophatic drugstores 2 blocks from my workplace, they do not require prescription either. They have also more literature and doctors as well.

The type of homeopathy that we have used, called "sequential homeopathy", treats life traumas in a time line from present to birth. It has been very helpful in bringing to the surface our programming that has occurred via physical, mental and emotional traumas. Along with the physchopathy knowledge and awareness presented by the writings here and having this tool has enable our family to overcome some of this programming and to know when we are engaed with phsychopathic individuals that seek to re-enforce our STS programming.

I recently went to a homeopathic practitioner to address some pitting edema. I bought some Natrum Mur 6C. The inactive ingredients are sucrose and lactose. I was looking at another brand to get a ballpark of the amount and they listed 64mg of lactose and 256 mg of sucrose per tablet. The dosage is three tablets, so 192mg lactose and 768mg of sucrose. The site said that lactose intolerant people don't react until they take about 5000mg of lactose, but I was a heavy milk drinker in the past.

So I compared that to butter. A tablespoon has 10mg of lactose. I usually eat 5 TBsp with a meal, about 70g of butter, so 50mg of lactose. And I'm a little sensitive to that, I kind of use it as a treat and reserve fat when I don't have any tallow.

I just started my first dose today and noticed a slightly boosted feeling 5-10 minutes after taking it. And maybe 20-30 minutes afterwards I seemed to react a little to the lactose like I would when eating butter. The tablets just dissolve under your tongue. So I guess I'll just see how it goes. I emailed the company asking if it is non-GMO, as the sucrose could come from sugar beets. Do y'all worry about the small amount of lactose and sucrose?

I was wondering about the possibility of making the remedies yourself. It seems doable, but you'd need a few clean containers for each remedy, or just wash out one set. Here's a basic rundown of the processs, and a more professional version of the process.

I personally don't worry about it and have never noticed a reaction. Since it's a homeopathic remedy, it may temporarily exacerbate any symptoms you have, including underlying ones, while the healing process is being stimulated. Make sure to talk to your practitioner about whatever you're noticing, since that should be valuable feedback to them in determining the effectiveness of the remedy (and whether to continue taking it, or to switch).

You may also be able to find a liquid form of the remedy without lactose and sugar, but then you'll probably be getting alcohol since they typically use that in their liquid remedies, so take your pick. Either one probably won't do you any harm.

I have always wondered why they typically use lactose as a base, though.

Neat Helios video! That was interesting to see their process--thanks for sharing.
