How much weight did you lose after starting the low carb diet?

I started at about 72kilos and I am about 5'10 1/2" so I was not too happy about losing two kilos but I seem to be getting a little muscle back the last month or so.

About 40 pounds in a year and a half and I am continuing to loose slow and steady. Another 20 would be about the max I should lose and stay healthy. I feel SO GOOD on this plan of eating--"diet" doesn't really convey the importance of making permanent physical and philosophical changes to what I eat. I think about food and eating differently lnow--it's "fuel" not food so to speak. I need to eat to fuel my body instead of eating to adjust my emotions or entertain myself and maintain rituals with others.

Stepping back and looking at eating and food from a distance, it is clear to me how much of a distraction and attachment/identification it usually is in our culture.

I am not intentding to make light of the animal sacrafices that happen to keep us eating healthy, but I find it hard to resist a pun so--Fire up the barbecue--another sacred cow has died!

I lost a total of 30 pounds (13.6 kg) but some of that was from the earlier, detox diet. Once I went to low carb (<20g) I lost an additional 10 or 15 pounds, I think.

I lost about 3 or 4 kilos, which I didn't really have to lose. One thing I'm starting to notice is that having carbs, especially sugar, actually makes me lose weight! If I stick to my pork products and keep the carbs down to under 20 a day I think I might gain a little back. But too many carbs are definitely evil for me, but for precisely the opposite reason for most people i.e. they make me lose weight rather than gain (at least when I'm burning fat and protein as my primary energy source).

I am losing about 1-2 pounds per month (~1%/mo). Before low-carb I was forever gaining, except when I starved it off.

What have impressed me the most is: before, with a carb breakfast at 6.30 a.m. I was VERY- hungry at 10 a.m. and I needed to eat some snack.

Now, after my breakfast I am not hungry anymore till 13.00 when I usually have lunch.

That was in my case same. After a breakfast at home about 7:15, I was hungry again about 10:00.
Now with bacon and eggs and some sweet potatos I'm full till 13:00. The next thing what I experienced was since I started the LCD was that I can control better my emotional state. I'm not becoming impulsive anymore.
Also I'm not tired every morning anymore. That's really great! :D

I might have lost 4 or 5 lbs which I don't want to lose, as I am already underweight. I fluctuate between 118 to 122. My real weight difference came when I stopped gluten,I lost almost 25 lbs with in a yr or so. The marked difference is physical energy levels. physically I wont get tired that much . Many times I eat little bit in the evening though I don't feel that much hungry. :P This thread will be a good social proof for the low carb effectiveness.

Originally I started with the elimination diet, then moved to the blood-type diet, then to the paleo-diet. Within that time period (about two years) I lost about 50 lbs. I wish I had exact figures, but I know I started over 260, and now average around 210, which seems to be my ideal weight.

Haven't measured but probably lost about 10 lbs and keeping carbs down to 20 or less.

Been on a 0 carb diet for about 3 weeks now. Before that, was on the <20g of carbs a day. Man my body looks and feels excellent. Lost about 20lbs. "I" can actually feel the purity and clarity of my physical body and mind. YAY grass fed organic butter and meat. MMM good :D

I've lost almost 7 kg (15lbs) since July. I yo-yoed a lot on my weight all my life - it was a constant struggle. This is the first time I ever really feel comfortable in my own skin! My weight has been stable for the last few weeks and I really don't want to lose much more than a kilo or two. I feel like I've slain an evil dragon that was constantly breathing down the back of my neck! :cool2:

edit: to change loose to lose. Thanks for pointing that out, Laura.

I did the modified Ultra Simple Diet from here for a year (1/1/2010 to 12/31/2010) and lost about 120 pounds. Unfortunately I went into a full life tailspin in Jan and mostly fell off of everything so I have gained back about half of that.

Starting from January, 2010, finally finding my resolve and going completely gluten, dairy, sugar, evil free I lost about 20lbs (9kg). Then, since switching to low carb in April of this year, I've lost another 20. All in all, I've dropped 40lbs (18kg) in 2 years - from 220 down to 180. :D

I could still stand to lose a bit more fat, although I feel like my 'weight' is fine. I've been exercising lately which seems to be bringing another burst, this time more in body composition than in actual weight loss. I just seem to have more definition than previously. I think it's the best shape I've ever been in, and I feel like there's more to come!
