I heard an explosion or large bang outside my window.

The Force is Strong With This One
A few days ago around 10pm i was watching tv and right outside my window i heard a large bang. The sound reminded me of when i was younger and a bird flew into our window. Its winter and i live in the upper midwest so i believe most birds are down south. The very same sound or very similar one occured a few months ago during the daytime and i attributed it to my neighbors because sometimes they are out there doing work of some sort, but this last time i got up and looked out my window to see if it was them and there was nobody outside. The sound sounded like it came about 5-8 feet to the left of my window so i dont think it had anything to do with my window but i could be mistaken. As of now i would characterize it as an unidentified large boom where there should not be one.

So I never thought of my unusual experience to be just that, unusual. That being said let me go back a few paces. I was just scanning the threads when this one caught my eye and sent an unnerving uneasiness over me. When I read your story I felt compelled to share mine providing it might shed some light.

So I was about the age 15 living in rural town Saint Thomas with an uncle. The house we stayed in was a rancher no longer than a mobile home and maybe wider than two put together in a little community. Our neighbors were consisted of mostly elderly folks along with middle-age married couple so in other words not a kid in sight. Well other than my cousins. I had three, Chelsea, Brian, and Tuco. I shared a room with Brian and Tuco while Chelsea had her own room. So now that you have a mental picture here my experience unravels. It was around 10 PM, I was laying in my bed which happens to lie directly beneath my window so close to to falling asleep. I was in that stage where you're on the edge of falling asleep and a loud bang came out of nowhere. I looked to see if anybody else was awake and to my surprise no one moved...this occured twice but once i started to wait for it, it stopped.

Hopefully I've said something useful. Thank you for listening. (:

You might have experienced a hypnagogic hallucination; I've also had them before. I often hear things upon waking up(hypnopompic sensations), like hearing a loud bang at my own door, that no-one else hears.

They might be auditory hallucinations or a temporary perception of something that is going on in another density. At least that's my theory.
