I Origins (2014)

I highly recommend the sci fi/drama, I Origins (2014). I just watched it the other day and really enjoyed it. Here is a very brief summary that won't spoil anything:

A molecular biologist and his laboratory partner uncover evidence that may fundamentally change society as we know it.

I want to say more but I'm afraid I'll ruin the plot twist. My husband and I can usually guess how a movie will end but this one was more difficult for us. It went in a direction that we didn't expect but that was a good thing. Let me know what you think.

Over in this thread there was a small discussion about it and other movies that Mike Cahill made.

I liked the theory and did you see what they do in the credits with their data? I mentioned details in the post there, maybe you recall who were the others and can add to the list?

I watched I Origins on RedBox some time ago, and I found it really thought-provoking and unexpected. It felt more of a realistic drama than a "sci-fi" feel. It got me teary at the end.

I'm finding a theory between iris pattern and reincarnation interesting.

I didn't see Cahill's previous film, Another Earth, but it's on my list.

I am so bummed! I did not watch through the credits. I'm gonna have to rent it again. Thanks for the tip.

There are many different models that people use to describe the connection between entry parameters at (re)incarnation and how people's life will unfold. Some people use astrology, others read palms and yet others believe that the distinct layout of the iris can be used. As I see it, two assumptions must be met for this to make sense.

First of all there's got to be a sort of programming that has impact on the way that life unfolds. I dont thinks it's deterministic but rather like some genes makes you more or less predisposed for some outcome to manifest in the body, in the same way some configurations of eye pattern, palm lines or planet placements at birth make it more or less likely that specific coping patterns and psychological traits will develop. It doesn't violate free will but rather sets the most likely paths that free will must operate within.

Secondly, the concepts of fractals or that the whole is expressed in the part. This would explain why the same boundaries can be seen in the palm, the iris, the birth chart, the DNA, etc.

Getting back to the movie "I, Origins" I'm not sure if I would interpret identical iris layouts as identical souls or just identical entry parameters which would lead to an increased probability for similar likes and dislikes, attractions and repulsions.

Just my two cents :-)

I really liked this film! Was a little skeptical at first with the amount of sexual scenes and the basic representation of "love" as sex, but that goes without saying really. It kinda turns it around at the end proving that the whole soul connection isn't about sexual relationships, and can be any kind of connection...

All of these movies remind me of that reference to 'Independence Day' in the sessions.... primer or introduction data for beginners.... just enough to tease the mind... or prompt the quest, upon request....like that line from 'Starship Troopers': 'Do You Want To Know More?' ;)

I origin or eye origin

an issue that deals with the idea that reincarnation in another body, we have the same irises, exciting drama, tickles the imagination
