If certain to die in 3-6 months what your TO DO NOW list would be?

If you were certain to be checked out in 3 (6) months; what your absolutely TO DO NOW list would looked like?

For quite a bit of time a want to ask you a couple of questions, as I am thinking of doing anything at all, variations of what do I do and how I can help given the higher centers, even if present, are spinning in vain, without any practical output. Self-obs takes years and years. But there should be something that one can do for others, if even an OP, and do it now because ‘the next month’ or ‘the next Monday’ or even ‘tomorrow’ may well be too late?
Gurdjieff said:
Imagine, that you have only a few minutes, maybe an hour left to live; somehow you have discovered exactly when you will die. What would you do with this precious hour of your stay on Earth? Would you be able to complete all your things in this last hour, do you have a conscious idea about how to do it?

[…]The organic life is very fragile. The planetary body can die at any moment. It is always one step from death. And if you could manage to live one more day, it is only a chance accidentally given to you by nature. If you will be able to live even one more hour, you can consider yourself to be a lucky person. From the moment of conception we are living on borrowed time.

Living in this world you have to feel death each second, so settle all your life affairs, even in your last hour. But how can anyone know exactly his last hour? For the sense of security make up your things with nature and yourself in every hour given to you, then you will never be met unprepared. […]

Question: How to act if you do not feel that there is something unfinished?

Gurdjieff aswered after a pause. He took a deep breath and replied:

Ask yourself who will be in difficulty if you die like a dog. At the moment of death you have to be wholly aware of yourself and feel that you have done everything possible to use all, within your abilities, in this life which was given to you.

Now you do not know much about yourself. But with each day you dig deeper and deeper into this bag of bones and start knowing more and more details. Day by day you will be finding out what you should have done and what you have to re-do among the things you have done. A real man is one who could take from life everything that was valueble in it, and say :"And now I can
die". We have to try to live your lives so that we could say any day :"Today I can die and not be sorry about anything".

Never spend fruitlessly the last hour of your life because it can become the most important hour for you. […] Knowing that the next hour can become the last one for you, absorb the impressions
which it will bring to you as a real gourmet. […] The master knows how to take from each tasty piece the last bit of the most valuable. Learn to be the master of your life.

When I was young I learned to prepare fragrances. I learned to extract from life it's essence, ist most subtle qualities. Search in everything the most valuable, learn to separate the fine from the coarse. One who has learned how to extract the essence, the most important from each moment of life, has reached a sense on quality. […]

It could be that in the last moments of your life you will not have the choice where and with whom to be, but you will have a choice to decide how fully you will live them. The ability to take the valuable from life – is the same as to take from the food, air and the impressions the substances needed to build up your higher bodies. If you want to take from your life the most valuable for yourself, it has to be for the good of the higher; for yourself it is enough to leave just a little. To work on yourself for the good of others is a smart way to receive the best from life for yourself. If you will not be satisfied with the last hour of your life, you will not be happy about the whole of your life. To die means to come through something which is impossible to repeat again. To spend your precious time in nothing means to deprive yourself the opportunity to extract from life the most valuable.

[…]And now I will give you the exercise to prepare for the last hour on the Earth. Try not to misinterpret any word from the given exercise.

The Exercise

Look back at the hour that has passed, as if it was the last hour for you on the earth and that you have just acknowledged that you have died. Ask yourself, were you satisfied at that hour?

And now reanimate yourself again and set up the aim for yourself. In the next hour (if you are lucky to live one more) try to extract from life a little more than you did in the last hour. Define, where and when you should have been more aware, and where you should have put more inner fire.

And now open your eyes wider, and by this I mean - open more possibilities for yourself, be a little more brave, than you were in the previous hour. Since you know that this is your last hour and you have nothing to loose, try to gain some bravery - at least now. Of course, you don't have to be silly about it.

Get to know yourself better, look at your machine as if from the outside. .. Now, when you are dying, there is no sense to keep your reputation and your prestige.

And now onwards, until the real last hour, aspire with persistence to receive the most you can from life that is of value, develop your intuition. Take just a few moments each hour to watch at the hour that passed, without judgement, and then tune yourself to extracting more from the following hour.

If we look at each hour like at a separate life unit, you can try to do as much as you can to use every unit totally. Force yourself and find the way to make the next hour much more than the one before, but also be aware that you have taken care of the debts you collected till now. Increase the self-sensing and self-knowledge of yourself, and also increase the ability to master yourself, this will change the work of your machine, which is always out of your control. And these abilities can become the indication of the real changes. And it is absolutely unimportant what the machine is thinking about this.

...To live the rest of your life rehearsing your death hour by hour - is not at all pathological. None can receive more from life than the cancer patient, who knows approximately when he will die. And since he already recognized how he wishes to spend the rest of his life, he will not have to
make the total change in it, but he will be able to go somewhere, where he always wished to go, but would not do it in other circumstances.

[…]If we will be able to extract the finest substances from the coarser, sooner or later we will have to pay for it. This law is called The Law of Balance. That is why we will learn how to pay immediately for those what we receive from life. Only then we will not have any debts. To pay immediately – this is what is called "real doing". "To do" - is to think, to feel, to act, but
"real doing" - is to pay immediately.

To do - may mean only one thing: to extract the essence from each moment of life and at the same moment to pay all the debts to the nature and yourself; but only when you have "I", you can pay immediately.

Real life is not a change of activity, but a change of the quality of the activity. Destiny - is destiny. Each one of us has to find himself in the whole order of things. It is not too late yet to start doing it now, although you have spent the greater part of your life in sleep. Starting
from today you can begin to prepare yourself for death and, at the same time, to increase the quality of your living. But do not delay with the start - maybe you really only have just one more hour of life.

Question: Can we share this with others? I think it is very important what we have heard about this evening.

- You can retell it word by word, but until you will not do this for yourself, it would mean nothing for others. Existence is the means, or the instrument, for action. Think about this and you will find out why it is so.

Question: Therefore, we cannot pay the debts, if we do not exist, or if our
"I" is absent?

- Why do you have such a need to pay? Pay for what? If life is only a coincidence, then there is no sense to go on. This does not mean that you have to end your life with a suicide. Opposite, you have to put all your effort into 'to live'. Ordinary man always lives, just going with the flow.
He is not just sleeping, he is absolutely dead. To really live, it is necessary to support the efforts of nature, to take actively from life, and not to act passively - wherever it flows.

Extracting from life the most precious, you have to be able to operate your emotions. See how fairly you can estimate yourself. Look attentively at yourself and you will see many remarkable ways to be fair. Each time notice for yourself different moments when the desires appear. Act as before, but always be aware of their presence. Transport to the world the part of your
blood, but one of the higher level.

At the end of each hour after you have estimated its usefulness, imagine that you just woke up in the absolutely unknown in comparison to the previous one gone by. It is important to note that the apparent continuation of the last hour is in reality changing with every hour, although things and people seem the same as before. With the time you will learn to see yourself as a spirit of a special substance, who is coming from one world to another, as an uninvited guest of nature.

Looking from this point of view evaluate everything you do in your life. Looking at the results of all your efforts of the past and think what sense they all have now, in the last hour of your life.
[…]
I remind you once again, learn to live each of your hours with a bigger benefit. Create a detailed plan of the last hour of your life. To understand how one should die, you should grow deep roots into life, only then you will be able to die like a human being, not like a dog. Although, it is not given to everyone - to die. You can become manure for our planet, but it does not really mean do die. To die to this world forever - is an honour. For this honour you have to pay with Conscious Labour and Intentional Suffering. You have to earn this right.

Try to imagine yourself relatively clearly the last hour of your life on earth. Write a kind of a script of this last hour, as if you were writing the script for a film. Ask yourself: "Is this how I want to dispose my life" . If you are not satisfied with the answer, rewrite the script until you
like it.

Look at life like at business. Time is your money for life . When you came into this world, a definite amount of money was given to you and this you cannot exceed. Time is the only currency with which you pay for your life. Now you see, how you used the biggest part of it in a stupid way. You have not even reached the main goal of life - to have rest. You failed as a
businessman, and as a user of life - you deceived yourself. All your life you thought that everything is given to you for free, and now suddenly you discovered that - it is not free. You pay for using the time, that is why each moment of your stay here costs something.

So how would it be possible for you to reimburse at least somehow these losses? Check, if the deficit on your bank account is only temporary or is it perhaps constant? Did you loose the time or could you invest it succesfully? If you have spent all your money on vacations, then there is
nothing to do but to be sorry about the past.

For many years you have been spending you life as if your parents gave you a bank account with unlimited credit. But now the amount is used and you see that you are all alone and that there is none to rely on. There is no more time on your bank account. Now you are forced to earn each hour of your life. All your life you behaved like a child and spent time just like a newly married couple on their honeymoon.

Our main enemy, which is hindering us from applying the necessary efforts - is hopelessness. I know, you will have many excuses not to prepare yourself for the last hour of your life. The habit is a big force, but starting once, you can learn to do each time more and more.

Do not fiddle all day, force yourself at least one hour a day to make an effort, otherwise you will loose everything. Think about the rehearsal of your last hour as if it was ballet exercises - you have to do it all your life.
The awareness of death maybe is the solitary thing that can give us the vigor to endure what the nature has in store for us in the nearest future and to somewhat tame fear of the unknown, we will have to face. I mean the worst thing that will happen is that we have to die, but we will die anyway sooner or later; and since that can’t be changed or ‘negotiated’ in any way, what is to fear? The loss of body chemicals? But there is still a fear of painful, may be even torturous death (for body) and thus ‘feastous’ (for hungry hierarchy of our STS overlords), it’s desirable to die in own bed in sleep, surrounded by loved ones…
Castaneda relates to death as a life-long companion and ever-present in life adviser. Death-advisor, when seriously taken into consideration, could shape radically the remaining life. Castaneda’s Warriors live with death at their side, and from the knowledge that death is with them they draw the courage to face anything. And there might be much less of ‘life’ left than each of us aspires. Don Huan tells Carlos to assimilate new behavioral pattern towards death. Simple, but effective approach is to visualize death as a shadow, following a warrior to his left, at an arms length. Don Huan tells that death-advisor can assist in awakening of will – ability to consciously manipulate energy clots, emanating from body.
Castaneda Journey to Ixtlan said:
Your death can give you a little warning, it always comes as a chill. Death is our eternal companion, it is always to our left, at an arm's length. How can anyone feel so important when we know that death is stalking us. The thing to do when you're impatient is to turn to your left and ask advice from your death. […] The issue of our death is never pressed far enough. Death is the only wise adviser that we have. Whenever you feel, as you always do, that everything is going wrong and you're about to be annihilated, turn to your death and ask if that is so. Your death will tell you that you're wrong; that nothing really matters outside its touch. Your death will tell you, "I haven't touched you yet."
One of us here has to change, and fast. One of us here has to learn again that death is the hunter, and that it is always to one's left. One of us here has to ask deaths advice and drop the cursed pettiness that belongs to men that live their lives as if death will never tap them.
Don Huan told Carlos that death holds itself in abeyance for as long as the sorcerers need it to do so. The greatest difference between an average man and a sorcerer is that a sorcerer commands his death with his speed. In the world of everyday life our word or our decisions can be reversed very easily. The only irrevocable thing in our world is death. In the sorcerers' world, on the other hand, normal death can be countermanded, but not the sorcerers' word.
Castaneda A Separate Reality said:
By the time knowledge becomes a frightening affair the man also realizes that death is the irreplaceable partner that sits next to him on the mat. Every bit of knowledge that becomes power has death as its central force. Death lends the ultimate touch and whatever is touched by death indeed becomes power. A man who follows the paths of sorcery is confronted with imminent annihilation every turn of the way, and unavoidably he becomes keenly aware of his death. Without the awareness of death he would be only an ordinary man involved in ordinary acts. He would lack the necessary potency, the necessary concentration that transforms one's ordinary time on earth into magical power.
Thus to be a warrior a man has to be, first of all, and rightfully so, keenly aware of his own death. But to be concerned with death would force any one of us to focus on the self and that would be debilitating. So the next thing one needs to be a warrior is detachment. The idea of imminent death, instead of becoming an obsession, becomes an indifference.
Now you must detach yourself; detach yourself from everything. Only the idea of death makes a man sufficiently detached so he is incapable of abandoning himself to anything. Only the idea of death makes a man sufficiently detached so he can't deny himself anything. A man of that sort, however, does not crave, for he has acquired a silent lust for life and for all things of life. He knows his death is stalking him and won't give him time to cling to anything, so he tries, without craving, all of everything.
A detached man, who knows he has no possibility of fencing off his death, has only one thing to back himself with: the power of his decisions. He has to be, so to speak, the master of his choices. He must fully understand that his choice is his responsibility and once he makes it there is no longer time for regrets or recriminations. His decisions are final, simply because his death does not permit him time to cling to anything.
And thus with an awareness of his death, with his detachment, and with the power of his decisions a warrior sets his life in a strategical manner. The knowledge of his death guides him and makes him detached and silently lusty; the power of his final decisions makes him able to choose without regrets and what he chooses is always strategically the best; and so he performs everything he has to with gusto and lusty efficiency.
When a man behaves in such a manner one may rightfully say that he is a warrior and has acquired patience. When a warrior has acquired patience he is on his way to will . He knows how to wait. His death sits with him on his mat, they are friends. His death advises him, in mysterious ways, how to choose, how to live strategically.
Why can the thought of death reshape our attitude to our customary ways to handle mundane everyday routine? If anyone of us were to find out that majority of us would beyond doubt die in a short period of time, countdown beginning now, as I write this post and you read it, like 1 or 3 or 6 months, or a year, we likely would put different values TO DO as priorities. Surely we do know that we will check out, and secretly aspire ‘the later the better’, or ‘I will think of it seriously tomorrow’ or ‘next Monday’; or ‘I likely do have fair chance of jumping out 94% of humanity – containers for overlords’ use’, fwiw. The very thought of inevitability of death is like avoided or sidetracked by consciousness, even that death is only a passage, it’s routinely a scare thought. Castaneda writes: ‘To collect the memorable events in their lives is, for shamans, the preparation for their entrance into that concrete region which they call the active side of infinity. […]The prerequisite for this collection is the genuine and all-consuming act of putting together the sum total of one's emotions and realizations, without sparing anything.’ The very thought of death as something that will happen very soon can rearrange and reshape mundane practical affairs differently than mundane affairs in daily life when we are forgetful about death and, worse, mass death, and more worse, entire civilization? being extinguished.
Let’s take it as a dark fantasy. You go to do a routine test to your health provider, and then discover that you have some sort of incurable dis-ease, then diagnosis is confirmed and re-confirmed. Or, if to put it differently, on global scale – if we will not be wiped off by meteors showers fire, and not quickly frozen after sudden glacial rebound, we will find ourselves in psychopaths-Corp –owned and run concentration labour camps or whatever. What if everything majority of us has left is 3 – 6 months or so? My idiot/foolhardiness list questions: What will you do, how will you live these 3 – 6 months? What will be your way of LIVING your allotted time to the fullest potential? What tasks would you draw as absolutely to be done, in any circumstances like what would you do in Work as first; personal issues like putting dots in relationships, asking forgiveness, etc.? What are ways of spreading the awareness where the hell we all are, you would choose to follow, if this would be one on your list of ‘absolutely to be done’? From the latest admins posts looks like allotted time in our sand-clock is quickly running out; ‘sooner than we may have thought’. Pretty much soon blood and life support sott cord may be cut out, and everybody, if survives in 3D, may well be on his own, with exactly that baggage of knowledge / awareness as he has; I’m asking myself non-stop of what I will be able to do then and what can I do effectively still NOW, in what can I help, but without necessary awareness all good intentions are very likely in the end to bring more harm than real help. C’s once remarked:

So, what the hell many of us here on sott can effectively do for ourselves and others as time is quickly running out, given that many of us still not being awake themselves, higher emotional center disconnected? Is there any method to accelerate awakening? Canselier writes about 2 ways of Alchemy – moist, slow and generally safe; and the second – dry - fast, and dangerous. Actual info is extremely scarce and veiled. What the second way is about, does somebody know?
Even given that there is a 50-50 fair chance of being an OP and being devoid of higher centers, still there should be something one can effectively do as OP in that little time that is left? Like finding ways to become a psychic-emotional poison for overlords, so when you become just a piece of emotions-loaiden meat, that will be the last feast for some of them. What else can I do, given that even if higher centers may be there (and very well may be not), they are completely useless until being connected.

Castaneda said:
Death is not an enemy, although it appears to be. Death is not our destroyer, although we think it is. Sorcerers say death is the only worthy opponent we have. Death is our challenger. We are born to take that challenge, average men or sorcerers. Sorcerers know about it; average men do not. Life is the process by means of which death challenges us. Death is the active force. Life is the arena. And in that arena there are only two contenders at any time: oneself and death.

I am dedicated to completing the Work now that I have begun.

To explore all my vampirc relationships.
To read Mourvieff's Gnosis until I truely understand it.
To unravel the layers of lies until I find my essence in full.

How long will this take? 10 years? 20 years?

But what if I have but an hour!

What if Cassiopaea is gone tomorrow?

What if the comets will impact next Tuesday at noon.

Thanks, CarpDiem, for the splash of cold water on this sleeper.

We need to work hard, but not waste moment.

How do you know time is running out? There may be precisely enough "time" to do whatever needs to be done, although of course we cannot really know for "sure". Sounds a bit like you are assuming and anticipating.

By how much? It sounds like you are trying to "force" the process in order to guarantee some kind of safe outcome for yourself and others. There are no guarantees.

I remember reading an interview with Cansliet and he mentioned that he thought the "wet" method was actually a fake - an esoteric "blind" of sorts. Check the threads on alchemy here in the forum - it was probably in one of those.

Honestly, this sounds a little hysterical. In fact, your whole post has a certain "vibe" to it that reminds me of the following quote by Gurdjieff:

Gurdjieff said:
The energy of the sex center in the work of the thinking, emotional, and moving centers can be recognized by a particular 'taste,' by a particular fervor, by a vehemence which the nature of the affair concerned does not call for.

The thinking center writes books, but in making use of the energy of the sex center it does not simply occupy itself with philosophy, science, or politics-it is always fighting something, disputing, criticizing, creating new subjective theories.

The emotional center preaches Christianity, abstinence, asceticism, or the fear and horror of sin, hell, the torment of sinners, eternal fire, all this with the energy of the sex center....

Or on the other hand it works up revolutions, robs, bums, kills, again with the same energy.

The moving center occupies itself with sport, creates various records, climbs mountains, jumps, fences, wrestles, fights, and so on.

In all these instances, that is, in the work of the thinking center as well as in the work of the emotional and the moving centers, when they work with the energy of the sex center, there is always one general characteristic and this is a certain particular vehemence and, together with it, the uselessness of the work in question.

Neither the thinking nor the emotional nor the moving centers can ever create anything useful with the energy of the sex center. This is an example of the 'abuse of sex.'
Perhaps you should look at what triggered you to write this post?

1. Tell everyone I care about how much I love them.
2. Finish my knitting :)
3. Make sure I had acquired enough knowledge to take with me, where ever it is I may go.

I actually thought about this when I got skin cancer. I had been warned that it can cause serious complications if left untreated. I had gotten poison ivy on top of it all, which just made matters more difficult to deal with. Before that, I went through a terrible depression where I just wanted to go to bed, fall asleep and never wake up.

After thinking about everything I HAD to do, none of it really seemed important. What difference would it make? What was important, was to tell those I care deeply for how I felt about them. Then stared at this huge pile of knitting and finish work I had to do (what I do for a living). Then promptly turned on the computer and started reading.

What Ryan says is important. It is not something that can be taught, or really transfered over to someone for full understanding (an understanding that is always somewhat subjective; full understanding of individual context by another is near impossible), but in a contextual exchange such as this, SOME important knowledge, even if only a little, comes out.

There is a strange thing that happens, when you are doing things the way you are meant to do. I don't speak of fate here, but personal knowledge of self, here and now, where you are, and what you need to do. It fleetingly reveals itself to you, BY you, when you listen, when you find a means to pick out the signal amongst the noise.

The strange thing mentioned is that time almost stops when you see what it is that needs to be done by you, for you, in the general context of the World.

When you are there, Time disappears, because it has become immaterial to what it is you need to do. Time stops. It is no longer a factor to do what you need to do, because you will do what you need to do, despite it. It will not be a factor as you see in front of you what it is you need to do, and what it is you need to do in order for you to do what needs to be done, again, by you, and for you.

You might weave in and out, in and out, of this "perceptual" time zone, but this also becomes a benchmark that is used to gauge "where" you are at, at any point (when you remember to take stock).

Your focus becomes clear, without strings, without Time, or other external distractions that seemed to take so much of your usual energy/time but that's because you no longer precipitate your attention there, because you are no longer waiting for "something" external to happen, but are engaging from within your current external environment.

I understand this is kind of abstract, but I can say, sure as I'm typing this, that Time *is* an illusion.

Cheers.

Hi carpediem,

I get the feeling that you are looking for something like ''the most important thing'' but that doesn't exist.
even if you had 1 hour, just continue your work as you usual do, internal and external, why should you stress about time? that's how I see it.

time is something that creates panic or fear into our lives, we let it sometimes control us, but why? if time really is an illusion, then why should you stress at all.
We all do the work on our own way, everyone is doing something else, for everyone something else is important, what matters is that we are doing this work you know, it is because we saw changes internal and external when we applied the knowledge within ourself , so it means it works, and with faith we keep on going improving ourself.

and remeber this part of the session carpediem? think about it for a while :)

Q: (L) So, you are saying that if we do what we do because we
enjoy it that we will be in the right place at the right time, doing the
right thing when whatever happens happens, right?

A: Close.
Q: (L) Are you saying that we will be led to do what we should be
doing and be where we should be?
A: You will just fall into it but if you force things you run the risk of
going astray.

What you are saying above may be based on 'linear thinking" driven by an emotional reaction to the "thought" of your last hour. The danger here, I think, is that it could possibly lead to a kind of survivalist mentality based on emotional thinking.

In the martial arts when one is approached by an opponent it is required to have the opponent defeated in your mind first, without 'emotionally thinking' about it. You look at the situation before you. You notice your opponents stance, his posture, you notice his distance from you, you notice what is possible and impossible for him to do in relation to his attack on you.

You see all the possibilities; you review in your mind (while in his presence) what you will do if he moves this
way, or that way. You put yourself at the most strategic location in relation to your opponent to maximize your effectiveness so as to minimize his, and all the while you are picturing in your mind the different possible scenarios and how you will act so as tor overcoming your opponent.

Now you have him defeated in your mind should the fight ever begins. Your opponent senses this. He may even feel defeated only because you have already defeated him in you mind, or "in your dreams," and he senses this. In short you have thought "through your opponent" and you have already defeated him even before the fight begins. Your opponent, upon sensing this will be less likely to attack you only because he sees that you have the edge and the advantage.

Similarly, I think, you can apply this "thinking through your opponent" to the idea of your last hour. The following is what works for me.

I imagine that I have just died. I have "thought through" my death. Even though I can't imagine my death, I can imagine my last hour of life while looking at it from 'beyond' it from the perspective of my death. I begin to feel things that are not based on emotional thinking. I see that I need to pay my debts. I feel it. I feel what I need to do to, what things are left undone. I feel the pain I may have caused to others.

I become more aware of the value of 'sensate' (sights, taste, touch, hearing, impressions, breath, etc) and I become aware of the importance of this sensate as means of inner transformation to develop my inner Being so I may be "more able" to pay back my debts. In this way I am not thinking emotionally about death because I have thought beyond it and I have already "died." From the perspective of eternity I am more able to see the parts of my life in relation to the whole. But from the standpoint of time and linear thinking (based on an emotional reaction) I would be seeing the part and mistaking it for the whole, This, I think, is what leads to a survivalist mentality, which is not reality since the part is not the whole. The part bears a relationship to the whole from the perspective of eternity. The latter, in my view, is closer to reality.

I think that what CarpeDiem has written is important, but we need to keep it in perspective. The fact is, I am always aware that every moment could be my last. Maybe this is due to my age and experience; I know how quickly a loved one can be gone, and how unexpectedly, by experience. I know that when someone I love walks out the door, it may be the last time, because I have experienced it. I know from years of suffering to appreciate, savor, extract the essence, from each moment because I don't have as much time left as I have already lived. Those who are still on the other side of 40 may not feel this as acutely, but once you get to that point where you realize that you have lived fully half of your traditionally allotted years, life is cast in a different light.

Too bad the young cannot see it this way... I wasted so much time. And everyone my age also talks about how much time they wasted. But it seems that there is no way to convince the young that they are wasting time! It's kind of a condition of youth - to think you have forever. It's so easy to think that if you do not extract the essence from this moment, or do what is in you to do now, you will have another chance in the next hour, day, month, year.

Fact is, you may not ever get that chance.

Every moment is a precious gift during which you can work on yourself and give to others who are asking. If you waste it, it's gone forever and will never come again.

What would I do? Exactly what I am doing.

And that is exactly the key, isn't it?

Knowing WHY one does what they do. Triple boiling your intent, shows you to yourself in this arena called the World (although it seems to occur after a self-actuated flash point).

Shades of self-remembering, but more so, a self-discovery.

It reminds me of the prodigal son. Unless and until we've squandered our inheritance, we can always spend a little more to rationalize those indulgences in the simple pleasures of this world, at the expense of higher goals. It's not until we've run out of money and spent some time living in the pigsty that we realize "home is where the heart is" and being to actively move in that direction.

A constant awareness of physical mortality will definitely aid in the process.

Ditto.

If we keep the image of death constantly in our minds, we will appreciate with bitter regret the value of each lost day.
When I keep that in my mind as I go through the day, it changes my perspective of what needs to be done in each moment. If I was given a time limit, I would do the same thing I am doing right now.

In Tolstoys 23 Tales (as I recall thinking the title might be) A King had 3 Questions which he had the damdest time getting an answer too. His local "experts" could only speculate as to the answers of this 3 most important questions. Evetually he found himself outside of his comfort zone (Kingdom) insearch of (rumor has it) a wise old hermit who may have the answers to all 3 questions. As destiny would have it (on occasion) he was injured during the search for the "wise one" and eventually awoke in the home of. The old man (as I recall) did not speak for sometime until the King was finally able to eventually leave from the injuries he had sustained. Upon leaving the King asked the old man if he could answer the 3 most important questions he had purposed to get answers to which were... What is the most important THING, What is the most important PLACE and Who is the most important PERSON - to which the wise old hermit replied... The most important thing is the thing your doing, the most important place is the place you are in and the most important person is the person you are with. Regarding this thread and the thoughts and considerations of all participants herein I am particularly grateful and encouraged to push deeper with my roots to learn and live and to live and learn in the moment(s) I do(be).

If you were certain to be checked out in 3 (6) months; what your absolutely TO DO NOW list would looked like?
1. Keep on reading, acquiring knowledge, and learn the lessons.
2. Talk to my dog, Scotty, about the dangers of STS, so he might know about it when he become human.
3. Learn to not to have regrets, but merely lessons.
4. Join a local Astrology club.
5. Learn to read my programs.
6. Go sky-diving! (hopefully I won't slam myself into an UFO)
7. Learn to not to waste any time, but do what needs to be done now.

LOL. Hopefully, it won't come to that and I don't think they have 'arse.' We can drag their tails and spin them around, maybe. :P

Probably trying to figure what the hell I'm doing, where I came from and why things are so confusing. No, wait a minute... I think I may be trying to do that already.... So.... 'struggle on'.

Wait a minute - try to work out why it is I have to 'check out' in 3-6 months?!?

Death is not an enemy, although it appears to be. Death is not our destroyer, although we think it is. Sorcerers say death is the only worthy opponent we have. Death is our challenger. We are born to take that challenge, average men or sorcerers. Sorcerers know about it; average men do not. Life is the process by means of which death challenges us. Death is the active force. Life is the arena. And in that arena there are only two contenders at any time: oneself and death.
If death isn't 'the enemy', then surely time shouldn't be either?
