Impending crash? Car brakes?

So last night I was late leaving from work and it was getting dark. There was a truck in front of me and the traffic light ahead of me was red and the cars were stopping. I then hear tires squeal and the truck bumped into the car ahead of it. I had a dream last night that my breaks were wearing, which I've noticed because they're squealing.

While that fender-bender last night wasn't a big deal, this morning going to work I was turning and the light was green and I wasn't the first few cars to go into the turn. And I heard the car turning in the lane next to me beep and didn't see that there was a car going straight into our two turning lanes, even though the light had been green for a long while, and I was a few cars back from the first. So I quickly braked and we had enough space for this rogue car to come through. And so this person in no way "simply ran a red light by a second or two."

So luckily I heard the car beep, and I think I would have seen the car coming, but I only had one car's space between us and I don't think this person was aware at all. And I had quite the adrenaline rush. I think of the symbolism, almost crashing, having someone in front of me have a fender bender, and then a car almost hitting mine. An economic crash, or "just" a vehicle crash? In any event, I plan to get the brakes checked because they seem to be wearing down. And just trying to be vigilant with what seems like some signs. Any additional thoughts? Thanks for reading.

Glad nothing serious happened, 3D. We should always be fully aware and alert when driving and keep our vehicles well maintained. Brakes and tires are especially important, so best to get that checked, since it seems the universe has sent a couple of warning messages! No need for the billboard to fall on your head. ;D

My first rule of the road is "everyone else is a moron" - they actually taught us that first day of drivers ed, way back when. So expect the worst of other drivers and plan accordingly.

Stay safe, it is a jungle out there on the road. :scooter:

Glad that nothing bad happened !

Not sure of the symbolism but at least you were paying attention enough to brake in time.

It could also be possible that your subconscious registered the deteriorating breaks, and slipped it into a conscious dream so you'd pay better conscious attention to them.

As for the near misses themselves, I think the economy has been steadily going downhill for awhile. I mean, just because stock prices are good and the MSM says there's not depression doesn't mean there's not one. FWIW :)

You were nearly involved in two accidents, but not quite... And it obviously stuck out to you, because you are considering potential symbolic significance.

Needing new brake pads is normal. Almost getting into 2 accidents at the exact time you might need new brake pads is not normal.

But instead of going for the "cosmic meaning", I would probably look closer to home to see if anything fits. As in: how are you doing/feeling lately? Is something up, or are you right as rain?

Thanks for the replies.

Hmm, lately I have been a bit angry and pessimistic. And with a desire to slow down and just get back into a decent flow of getting things done. So maybe the brakes are kind of saying that I need to tune my ability to slow down.

Regarding how I feel, with the anger and dark thinking, I will sometimes flip to the exact opposite and feel excited, spiritual, and energized. Like a kind of excitement for the future and what exactly life will be like when "the dust settles".

I agree with Lilou, the car has to be in good condition always. It is a question of life or death. And me too I always assume that the others drivers are morons, or under medication or simply very stupid. So I always anticipated what the other can do, that's why "attention" is vital when you drive, you are driving for yourself but also for the others. Not 2 eyes but 5. Driving is a sort of exercise of attention and be here, very, extremely present. I am very happy that nothing happened to you.
