Improvisation

The Living Force
Please (Demonstrate)

This song [the first 16, or if you're up to the task, 18 minutes] was improvised on the spot & just happened to get recorded. It is me singing & playing guitar. It doesn't have a title - we'll call it "Please (Demonstrate)" for now.
It's about... well, the negative introject/Predator's mind & all the little "I"s. Probably has other facets in there as well as it goes through phases. It was done back in December as a way for me to try to hear what was going on.

I should warn it's a little solemn or depressing so I wasn't sure where or whether to post this. It was emancipating for me & wanted to share so 'ere it is.
Fwiw. Thank you :)

Yes it is solemn, but that's been me for the longest time anyway. As a whole, i think back to when i was doing a music production course "back in the day" & was trying to compose tracks which would've turned out more solemn/depressing than yours if i'd had my way - but my studio partner wasn't having it!

Here's my impression: i liked the change-up at approximately 11:25, 13:20 is darker, the sigh at around 16:00 made me smile. I liked 18:20,(ish) but at 18:45 was it a sniffle or something else? Hiccups too?
I resonated with 19:00 (if i remember correctly) which is very me. The same for 23:00. Some parts actually reminded me of a Shakespearean children's animation from the mid-nineties, in particular Macbeth (one of the animated plays during that season) & i reckon the flavour of your piece(s) would fit right in! :halo:

Personally if i had sound recording gear or a piano & guitar i'd re-mix it into a super melancholic piece!
Oh yeah one last thing, the 1st few minutes remind me of Richard Linklater's dream-like animation "Waking Life," if you've seen it you'll know what i mean! I'm glad it gave you some relief though. :halo:

Thanks H-KQGE :)
18:20 is probably closest to the classical, semi-ethereal snippets composed when singing to myself. Think it was a hiccup at 18:45.
Don't think I've caught any Shakespearean children's animation from the mid-nineties... might have a look to compare.

Watching 'Waking Life' now - same director who did 'A Scanner Darkly', no wonder the animation was familiar

13:20 is probably the 'darkest' part of the entire thing. I like experimenting with sounds & different frequencies, though haven't done much myself in the way of music recently. The theory is I can't make happy music. Working on that too I guess...

I'm sorry to be vague but like many shows in my youth i caught it late & had limited reference points. I have no doubts about it being a Shakespearean animation season (BBC2) or that it was on in mid morning. A might have made a "boo-boo" saying children's animation though, that's an assumption based on my youthful glee at the time that i was trying to understand Shakespeare in my early teens. It stands out like "Waking Life" or even more so "A Scanner Darkly", as i remember thinking that the visual style was incredible - probably because the 1st one i saw was Macbeth. Others were shown but i always caught them midway through (if i plan to watch something & miss the beginning or a few minutes i refuse to continue) so i don't know. I'm only good at making (this is the past btw) happy/uplifting music if i have something to "copy." Then i can strip whatever appeals & mix 'n match from other pieces that i've heard, a constant refining process. ;)
