Just wanted to put a song together in memory of John Lennon who was assassinated December 8 1980.

Finished this in this form about 9pm

Its really quite rough mix , but I wanted to write it and get it out today.. A man I for one wish was still around and think would have made a great difference now.

Any ways it can be heard here if any one would like to give it a listen http://www.awaywiththefairys.com/inmemoryofjohn.mp3

oh and the lyrics.

December morn
i heard the news
that they took our hero down

A man who stood
for love and peace
was taken from this earth

His songs of truth
exposing wrong
played all day on the radio

Global tears
fell on that day
He was the last of his kind

While theres life
theres hope is what he said
he who lives to hate is but a fool
He stood with those in need
and despised the rich mans greed
so they went and shot the man from liverpool

His words of love
They linger on
in my heart they´ve lost no meaning

And in these times
these awful times
I wish that he was here

He´d stand up tall
he´d stand besides
the disempowered people

Calling for truth
calling for peace
calling for sanity

But oh the bastards went and took him down
they couldn't have a peoples champion round
His words could move the soul
when he played his rockn roll
so they went and killed the man from Liverpool

Very Good AWTF. 'Like' :) Love the 'All he was saying' tune, ties it up really well.

And he is not really dead, as long as he lives in/through us, if that makes any sense. OSIT. Which is what you did AWTF with your poignant song.

It is the same like watching 'Evidence of Revision'. The Kennedy brothers and MLK still seem to be very much alive. Their words and actions are still reverberating. And the same goes for John Lennon. That is what I think anyway.

I really enjoyed this AWTF! A good melody with meaningful/thought provoking lyrics is a gift. Thank you.

Very nice thought for John AWTF. :)

He made many lives just a little richer and hearts glad for his being.

Great job! I was expecting an acoustic version, so hats off (I couldn't do a full background of musical instruments like you did)

Very nice tribute :headbanger:
