Iran's president proposes TV debate with Bush

A Disturbance in the Force
I would pay good money to see this - of course, it will never happen - but it sure is nice to 'wishfully think' about.

[Ficticious] debate starts:

Ahmadinejad : Let's get straight to the point. Why is it OK for USA and Israel to have nuclear power plants and somehow it is not OK for Iran to enjoy the same, as provided all nations by treaty and/or law?

Bush: That's not the point. See the point is ...

And it all runs around in circles from there.

My suggestion: create a large ad campaign using a faux Bush-supporter stance. For example, "Ahmadinejad wants to debate our Leader, President George W. Bush. Freedom and Democracy has three words for you, Iran: Bring it on!"

Result: dumb Bush-supporters will call for a debate, Bush will be flattened, awareness will be raised.

Or Bush would just say that America and Israel are Good and Iran is Evil. Most people would buy that one, debate over.

Ya, something like: "That's not the point. See, the point is, USA good, Iran evil. We got them freedoms and you hate us because of, uh, because, freedoms. See that's why we're strippin' 'em from 'mericans. So you'll stop hating us, see."

Then he'll probably mumble some crap about food on families and misunderestimating and golf and fishing and something about 'nope, it's not under there either" etc.

Great idea, perfect! :D

Haha, agree'd this would be a good debate.

About Iran not having Nuclear power...I think they're one of the only countries out there whose leader vehemently supports the obliteration of a neighboring nation. Now, we all know the U.S. wants to, and most likely will wipe out a couple more nations in the coming years, but at least they're subtle about it ;) To just come out and SAY that you're going to destroy someone is a no no...its all about appearances.

Could you provide an example of when Iran has said such things? My guess is you have not read Joe Quinn's article Putting Words in Ahmadinejad's Mouth.

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/10/27/ahmadinejad.reaction/

"Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday lambasted Israel and Zionism and quoted the late Ayatollah Khomeini calling for Israel to be "wiped out from the map.""

This report has been proven, through translation of his actual remarks to be false. Please stop spreading lies and propaganda here, banned. Interesting choice of a screen name, that clearly shows your hand.

If you're actually interested in understanding the story you linked, you may want to read this...

Bush rejected it saying it was a diversion.

Ofcourse he rejected... but more and more people understand the real reason :)

CNN poll: Who would win a debate on world issues between President Bush and Iranian President Ahmadinejad?

Bush 37% 41652 votes
Ahmadinejad 63% 71827 votes

Actually, that one was from Counterpunch. My comments were on a later repeated, yet no less spurious, allegation that Ahmadinejad wanted to "kills all Jews"
