Just some cow fun

Cesar, have you watched the videos that you posted the link to? What about these:

And I didn't have to try hard to find those -- it seems that Cyriak has very few videos that don't involve some kind of mutilation. I agree with your statement about surrealism in general -- and I've seen some work, categorized as surrealistic, that I do like. But this stuff seems to be sadism that just happens to be wrapped in a veneer of surrealism; to be honest, I find it hard not to see pathology here.

Fair enough, I was thinking about my favorite videos of his, none of which have violence. But I don't think it's the majority of his videos that are violent. To be fair, I would still call those "violent" instances surreal or even cartoonish violence. But as I said, it could all indeed be a symptom of something deeper (and darker) about the artist.

Most artists tend to have a dark side of them, I think including violence in art is as valuable as not including it. Whether it comes from yearn of peace or rejection, violence is always present in art. Latently, explicitly or tacitly.

It strikes me as curious that you would mention the word mutilation when referring to Cyriak's work, where is the mutilation? Mutilation, at least the animal kind, is a much more complex and unknown phenomenon to even draw a connection to it from this videos. This thread was called just some cow fun, because that's what the original video I posted was, just some talented designer having fun with cow's images. Path27 I'm not trying to put words in your mouth, but mutilation is such an ugly word, It really brings it's baggage when used.
